A few months back I saw Joe Hill talk at a local book store in downtown Exeter, NH. He laughed at me when I asked if the continuation of his stellar mini-series, Locke & Key, was still on for November which the last issue of the series claims. Then he politely explained how the process [...]

Kimberley Locke wore a Christian Siriano original upon her return to the American Idol stage last night and we have opinions.
Actually, we're a little torn. It's not a style that we respond particularly well to. On the other hand, there are aspects of this dress that put us more firmly in the "Christian has a future" camp than ever before. For one, it's nice to see that he can design a

Jonathan Bennett, Learning from Six Philosophers: Descartes, Spinoza, Leibniz, Locke, Berkeley, HumeOxford University Press | ISBN 0199266298 | 2003 | PDF | 2.78 MB | 356+340 pages 2 vol.In these two volumes Jonathan Bennett engages with the thought of six great thinkers of the early modern period: Descartes, Spinoza, Leibniz, Locke, Berkeley, Hume. While not neglecting the historical setting of each, his chief focus is on the words they wrote. What problem is being tackled? How exactly is the solution meant to work? Does it succeed? If not, why not? What can be learned from its success or failure? For newcomers to the early modern scene, this clearly written work is an excellent introduction to it. Those already in the know can learn how to argue with the great philosophers of the past, treating them as colleagues, antagonists, students, teachers. In volume one Bennett considers mainly the work of Descartes, Spinoza, and Leibniz, and in volume two the work of Locke, Berkeley, and Hume
By David Terr "Bronco Billy" is a thoroughly entertaining film directed by and starring Clint Eastwood. The storyline and acting are both quite good. I also think the film tells an important lesson about life, which is to strive to become the person you want to be, regardless of your upbringing or past experiences.Bronco Billy (Eastwood) runs a Western-theme traveling circus show around the country. The cast of the show travel in various cars and trucks, though they hardly make any money. Meanwhile, Billy is looking for a new girl for his knife throwing act.Miss Antoinette Lilly (Locke) is an unhappy rich heiress, who must marry John Arlington, a man she can't stand, in order to keep her family fortune. She and John travel to Sun Valley, Idaho for their honeymoon, which is also where Bronco Billy and his show are performing. Lilly ends up driving John crazy, so he leaves her without a penny. Lilly runs into Billy and asks him for a dime to call home. However, she is unsuccessful and a

THE EPITAPH OF JOHN LOCKEJohn Locke was an English philosopher who lived from 1632 to 1704 whose ideas exerted great influence on the development of epistemology, political philosophy and theories of the mind. Locke was the first western philosopher to look at human beings as a continuity of "consciousness" and believed the human mind to be a "tabula rasa" (Latin for blank slate) at birth and thus void of any innate ideas. His influence, like all great philosophers was enormous. The following is what is written on his epitaph. The mixture of contentment, truth and humility is clearly evident of a life well lived in service to humanity. After reading and fully understanding it, it is worthwhile to ask the following questions. What would your epitaph say about you if you passed on right now? In what other ways would you like to be remembered, that differs from how you've lived you life till the present?&What do you need to do starting now to be remembered thus?"Stop, Traveller! Near this

Have you heard about speed painting? Well what about drawing a John Locke ( Lost character ) in time lapse speed painting?
This movie is incredible and you should see it right now. It’s made in Adobe Photoshop, and the author said he made it in 3 hours… I will end up messing with this type of drawing for days… and not getting any result.
This is not only a great video but also a brilliant piece of artwork. Done using Photoshop, this portrait of John Locke from the TV Series and mega hit ‘Lost’. Terry O’Quinn plays the former disabled guy and now hunter gatherer character, and is probably my favourite from the show, currently on it’s third series.
According to the artist and uploader of the video, it took 5 hours to make and has been edited for us all to watch in 5 minutes. Not only is this guy very talented, he’s also got alot of patience and technical know-how to draw to this level using photoshop.
I agree with one of the comments that the background is a let down compared to the portrait but it’s still class.
