Local search engine optimization has been found to be especially handy for small business owners and those looking for a limited, localized reach. The reasons could be varied and could range from a small budget to targeting a section of the populace or a service that could work only in that particular area. Certain local SEO’d blogs can be seen to include grammar-throttling keywords like Boston accountants rather than something more natural sounding like accountants in Boston. When the SEO follows the keyword to content ratio rule to the max, the website is bound to have content that sounds something close to gibberish. As a small business looking to build up credibility within a limited budget, the last thing you want to do is sound nonsensical. This is why professional SEO’s and o

I was reading
Matt McGee's excellent post on local search queries when I was
researching for my local search in the UK post.
Whilst
it isn't relevant for the UK
(Craigslist exists in some UK
localities but hasn't taken off), I was spurred to do some research to find the
answers to similar questions in the UK, because it is of interest for our local SEO clients.
Using
Keyword Discovery, but restricted to the UK Database, I checked on 7 places in
the UK
of varying sizes to see what the top queries were using the city/town name.
These are the results that I discovered correlated between the cities using the

Online seo articles reviews indiaAs the fastest growing vertical in search, many people are now starting to recognize the value of local search engine optimization can have on their site traffic. Also known as regional search, it's basically geo-targeting your audience when they search.Local search works best for the service provider, or a retailer that has numerous locations. Nowadays, businesses and entrepreneurs, both big and small, know the fact that advertising at traditional media is not practical anymore. Because ad spending is considered a major operating cost in all businesses, it should be targeted in initiatives that would specifically and effectively reach the target consumers. Proper and well-visited venues and media forms should also take most of the ad efforts. Thus, because online media has been fast becoming a popular and well-utilized media, consumers are more exposed to it and so businesses swoon to follow where consumers or prospective customers are. So you know that it is now considered a necessity to put up a Website for your business.Suppose your company has established an online page where clients could find out more about your products a

EveryScape launched a three-dimensional search web site that allows people "drive" through the streets and even "walk" into buildings. This web site is kind of "Google Street View" meets "Google Maps" meets "Citysearch".The purpose of the web site is to give you a good experience of what some place looks like before you visit. It currently supports only 4 USA cities: New York, Boston, Miami and Aspen but it will probably grow quickly. The site lets you browse popular places and categories or type an address of a business and either use the "Auto Drive" option to look-around or "You Drive" option to check everything on your own. It's really nice to look for restaurants this way, besides getting the address on a Google Map and review, you can walk inside the restaurants and get a tour around to see what it looks like before you decide to visit there. The main difference between EveryScape and Google Street View or M
With the powerful search features available in the web today, it is so easy to research in any product, compare prices, read reviews and purchase it at your convenience. But most of the time, what you see in the web may not be available in the marketplace or the retail store near your work place or home. And some of these things especially household appliances like Bosch Washing Machines or electric ovens are not suitable to be purchased on line. The best thing to do is to check out the appliances in krillion dot com which produces local search results. In other words, if you find something you want at krillion, it will show you where to purchase the product at the store nearest to you. The searches present you what are available in the local stores which then match with what you see in the web.

“If you run a small business, chances are that most of your sales come from customers in your local area. Sixty percent (60%) of small businesses get the majority of their customers from within a 50-mile radius.”
So says Anita Campbell in her article about local search. As search engines begin to replace other paper forms of search like Yellow Pages it might be prudent to learn more about local search.

Google recently announced a version of Google Maps for Mobile that integrates GPS functionality into additional phones besides the Helios it originally launched on.
I hate being charged $.40 or $1 or however much Verizon charges for their 411 service and that's probably why I never use it! But alas, Google to the rescue! Google has just released a very nice service which is in the experimental stage called Google Voice Local Search. The nice thing about this service is that it has voice recognition and it's pretty damn good at it!In order to use the service, you simply need to dial 1-800-GOOG-411 (1-800-466-4411) from any phone. It'll ask you for your city and state and then you can say the name of a local business. Currently, the service is only for local businesses (your Yellow Pages basically), but may be expanded to include people lookups also. I tried to have fun with the system and slurred my speech, but amazingly it was still able to figure out what I was saying! And by playing around with it, the best feature is not if you already know the name of the business, but if you're just interested in a particular category. For example, if you

Google just launched a 411 service to make local-business search accessible over the phone and I think GOOG-411 is one of Google’s best services for me because I call 411 service and it’s cost me about $1.22. Google 411 doesn’t charge you a thing for the call or for connecting you to the business. Regular phone charges may apply, based on your telephone service provider.
Google Voice Local Search is still in its experimental stage. It may not be available at all times and may not work for all users. It’s currently only available in English, in the US, for US business listings.

Yes - Google's April fools jokes brought to light a relatively surprising shortage of new products from the search giant. Maybe Sunday's jokes were just a warmup because Google has just announced a new service called "Google Voice Local Search."
By dialing 1-800-GOOG-411 you can get connected to a directory of local businesses, get connected to those businesses or even send yourself an SMS message containing a businesses data all for free!
While the service is only available as a business directory and in English it's certainly a cool new addition to Google's lineup. I look forward to getting it linked to GMail so you can gmail yourself details (rather than SMSing them) or even Google Maps.

Google’s changing the game of search engine optimization with their recent release of OneBox. Google OneBox appears at the top of results whenever a popular [city] phrase is combined with a popular search query. For example: [Salt Lake City internet marketing] returns the following results.
How does this changes the game of SEO?
Well not only do you have to aim for top organic search results, but now you have a new algorithm in place to rank on local results such as Google’s OneBox. Google, Yahoo!, and MSN have always had local search but Google has been the first to implement theirs into the regular search results as well.
What can you do to optimize for local search?

Microsoft today announced U.S. availability of Virtual Earth 3D, a new online mapping interface that is part of the Live Search offering, providing consumers with a three-dimensional experience to search, browse and explore the real world online. When people visit Live Search (http://live.com), type a query into the search bar and click on the "maps" tab, they get their search results in a map context that offers the option to explore the area using two-dimensional views (aerial and bird's-eye) or three dimensional models with Virtual Earth 3D. We may be told to ‘think global and act local’ but I am thinking more and more about the ‘local’ as local search rises in importance. The internet has been a great tool for reaching a wide audience but nowadays many organisations operating on a regional basis need to think about how their customers will find them on the internet directories and search engines. Traditional paperbased companies like Yellow Pages and Thomson have had internet based search sites for some time but now they are under threat from the search engines themselves. Just look at the success of Google Site Maps or a search for a local plumber. For this reason it is becoming more and more important to include local content on a website including address, map and directions and importantly the organisation’s postcode. Look at this local map for plumbers in Chester - see what I mean ? A friend also recently told me that 25% of searches done on line are done so with a view to making a physi
