"Little Miss Sunshine" won the top prize at the Spirit Awards, the art world's equivalent of the Oscar's. The 10 year star of the screenplay is Abigail Breslin, who already has another movie coming out that seems to be making waves even before it's release.
"The Ultimate Gift" is a movie not only starring the young 'up and coming' Abigail Breslin, but also a favorite of mine, James Garner.
The road trip comedy Little Miss Sunshine has scooped best original screenplay at the Writers guild of America Awards. Steven Carell, who plays an academic in Little Miss Sunshine, picked up 2 further prizes for his work on The Office.
Screenwriter Michael Arndt, who penned Little Miss Sunshine, and was his debut feature said. "I wrote the script when I was unemployed and with no major credits to my name"
Also honoured at the awards were, The Sopranos and Big Love for dramatic writing, and Ugly Betty was named best written new TV show.
