Broken Hymns, Limbs and Skin is the third album from New York band O'Death. The album blends traditional "American" styles of music (country, blues, folk, hillbilly junk) with Eastern European sounds. The result is not dissimilar to Gogol Bordello's gypsy punk which has been a big hit in the underground music community.Broken Hymns gets started in a hurry, kicking off with the frantic fiddle of

The video below is about a girl who was born with eight limbs. She was born with four arms and four legs. The doctors say the extra limbs were from a headless twin that was born connected to her. Some Hindus were worshipping the little girl as a reincarnation of one of their gods:

The gold standard for limb regeneration is the salamander, which can grow perfect replacements for lost body parts throughout its lifetime. Understanding how can provide a road map for human limb regeneration.
The early responses of tissues at an amputation site are not that different in salamanders and in humans, but eventually human tissues form a [...]
My husband came back on Sunday night sharing with me about a very inspiring and heart warming true testimony of how this man - Nick Vujicic - has succeeded in his life without any limbs. Yes, did you hear me - he has NO LIMBS! But do you know that he is now a millionaire and traveling all over the world to touch lives, inspire and motivate those 'normal' individuals like you and me. He has purposed in his heart to live like a NORMAL person - HOW? You ask, watch to find out! Please spare few minutes to watch this video and I promise you that you will STOP feeling sorry for yourself when things don't turn out your way.
Salamanders can grow perfect replacements for lost body parts throughout their lives. If a complete understanding of how they do so can be reached, it could provide a road map for human limb regeneration.
Humans and salamanders have similar early tissue responses at amputation sites. However, human tissue eventually forms a scar, while the salamander reactivates an embryonic development program which builds a new limb.
If the human wound environment could be controlled in a way that would trigger salamanderlike healing, it could become possible for humans to regenerate large body parts. Science may be only a decade or two away from this achievement.
Girl with 8 limbs has successful surgery
began operating Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, on the two-year-old girl born with four arms and four legs, in an extensive surgery that they hope will leave the girl with a normal anatomy
Lakshmi Tatma was born joined to a parasitic twin, also known as unequal conjoined twin, and will now undergo a 40 hour surgery to remove half of the eight limbs. Some believe that she is the reincarnation of the Hindu goddess Vishnu. However, doctors say that she will never be able to walk or crawl, and would probably not live past her early teens, if she does not have this surgery. Here is the news report:
Lakshmi Tatma was born joined to a ‘parasitic twin’ and will go under the knife at the hands of 30 surgeons to remove two of her useless arms and legs.
Lakshmi can not walk or crawl and is unlikely to survive her teens without surgery.
Skeleton of Lakshmi
A girl born in India with a 2 sets of arms and legs is believed to be the reincarnation of Hindu goddess Vishnu.
However, she is about to undergo some major surgery to seperate her ‘parasitic twin’ from her main person. Her twin is fused in almost a mirror-like fashion at her pelvis. The twin has its own spine, kidney, and a set of arms and legs.
Without the surgeries, the girl would probably not live past her early teens.

Advancement in embedded electronics has transformed the way people work, communicate and unwind. It has paved the way for the integration of home and office device networking so people can share, transfer and save data and information in rates that are faster than ever. It has also promoted safety, comfort and efficiency in aviation as well as in land and sea navigation.
Embedded electronics, however, can also improve lifestyle and over-all well-being by providing new and better equipment to help people, especially those who are physically challenged.
The DARPA Revolutionizing Prosthetics Program
Revolutionizing Prosthetics Program is an ambitious effort of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (or DARPA). The main goal of the program is to help rehabilitate members of the armed forces who have been injured in the line of duty. It is a costly project that intends to develop an integrated, life-like prosthetic limb that can be controlled using residual nerves, provide feedba

Elf Power, long-time members of Athens, Georgia, USA's Elephant 6 Collective, their usual output is comparable to that of fellow E 6 members such as Olivia Tremor Control and Neutral Milk Hotel, i.e. whimsical psycadelia borrowing heavily from Sgt. Pepper era Beatles. While I enjoy Elf Power's more polished offerings, none of their albums have ever come close to matching the dark majesty of this album. Distorted guitars, muffled drumming, strange noises, feedback and mangled vocals combine to create an album which embodies all that is great about lo-fi, and it manages to do this while sounding completely un self-conscious, unlike some other noiseniks who try so hard to create a 'challenging' album that they completely forget to include any songs, this album brims with beautiful songs which are funny, endearing, profound and moving in equal measures. The emotion in the title track and 'Circular Malevolence' is almost heart breaking while 'Loverboy's Demise' deals with the dissa
Even before I read it, or heard much about it, I had very high expectations for Watching the Tree Limbs. The author, Mary DeMuth, also wrote what I think is one of the very best books to merge a heart for growing more like Christ and the real (and not easy) life of motherhood: Ordinary Mom, Extraordinary God.
When I heard about her first novel being published, I couldn't wait to read it. If
Good news, everyone! Everybody's favorite sad plea for attention, Dancing with the Stars, will feature an amputee! Heather Mills McCartney, ex-wife of Beatle Paul, will be featured on the sequined car wreck, despite having a prosthetic leg.
Here's a worthwhile tidbit from the article:
The show's website said Lady McCartney would be the first contestant to dance with an artificial limb.
