French Ligue 1 champion confirmed the sign of Lille duo Mathieu Bodmer and Kader Keita. “Kader Keita cost 18 million euro including two million of profit-sharing, while Mathieu Bodmer cost 6.5 million euro, both of them will stay in Lyon for four-year contracts” said Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas.

After all the harsh words exchanged in the media, the complains to UEFA, the appeals and the general nastiness surrounding the first leg, the second leg proved to be a dull affair. United, as usual, was nowhere to be found on the pitch, but yet we somehow managed to pull out a victory to send the French side packing.I though Lille had the better possession and worked Van der Sar, without really looking like scoring. Even though they came forward looking for the all important goal, there was a lack of conviction in their attacks. As for us, we were not too shabby and looked good on the counter attack but we never troubled the Lille keeper.Our goal was scored in the 72nd minute. Ronaldo did brilliantly running down the left wing and somehow managed to find space to cross from the byline despite having two covering defenders around him. The cross found an unmarked Larsson to head the ball into the net. It was a sweet goal to shatter the French hearts.I usually sympathise with the underdog

I missed the first half coz I was at Cow's house playing mahjong and rushed back in time to set up the computer to catch the second half. According to the commentators, the first half was a putrid affair and I'm glad I didn't miss anything. The second half started with two really sweet chances by Rooney and Ronaldo, and largely us dominating the proceedings. But the dominance was shortlived.
A switch was suddenly turned on in the Lille players. They started to play football and started dominating possession. In fact they started controlling the game and looked the likelier scorers of the first goal. We didn't make things any easier on ourselves by playing scared and backing off from the Lille players, Carrick looked like the worst culprit here. The good thing was that it wasn't entirely one-sided. We still looked really good on the counter attack, without producing though.

Vindmølleproducenten Vestas opjusterede i dag sit forventede 2006-resultat på omsætning og driftsmargin. Den forventede driftsmargin for 2006-regnskabet er nu på cirka 5,2 pct. - fra 4,8 pct. udmeldt ved 3. kvartalsregnskabet - mens forventningen til årets omsætning er opjusteret med 150 mio. euro til 3.850 millioner euro.
Opjusteringen er ikke stor, men har en beroligende effekt på investorerne og styrker tilliden til Vestas, da der længe har været usikkerhed om leverancerne fra underleverandørerne. Se også: Vestas: Skuffende 3. kvartal med optimistiske toner.
Samtidig husker mange Vestas-aktionærer sikkert 3. kvartalsregnskabet fra november 2005, hvor Vestas-aktien fik et ordentlig gok nedad ovenpå en chok-nedjustering på milliarder på baggrund af budgetoverskridelser og komponent-mangel. Nu er der i hvertfald ingen tvivl om, at Vestas er i stand til at tjene penge og at driftsmarginen går den rigtige vej.

Kinda late with the reactions to the draw here, but better late than never.
The Champions League draw was made and we ended up facing Lille, who gave a horrid time in last season's very forgettable campaign. As noted here before, my personal preference was to face either Real Madrid or Barcelona. Given our recent history with so-called minnows, we've always struggled to find our A-game.
Our failure to beat Monaco (98), Leverkusen (02), Porto (04) and last season's disaster all come to mind when we face the so-called unfancied teams. At least facing the teams with 'pedgree', we often play our best, and although we might not be victorious, it's good entertainment value. The other advantage is that losing frees up our fixture to push for the domestic league. On the other hand, beating good teams gives us the confidence to make a real run at it.
Let's hope judging from our domestic performance, we show the same kind of intensity facing Lille, who many considered to the weakest team
