Congratulations to my mate Lewis Hamilton on winning the F1 Championship yesterday. Last year he bottled it, and this year he cut it close, but Lewis grabbed fifth place and with it, became the youngest ever F1 Champion.

Lewis Hamilton has cruised into Oxford to meet his fans and sign copies of his book - despite a nearby demonstration with the potential to upset proceedings.
According to local newspaper the Oxford Mail, about 800 fans lined up to meet the racer when he appeared at the local Borders store on Monday evening to sign his new autobiography.
But the allotted two-hour time slot was reportedly cut short - meaning that not everyone in the queue was able to meet him and some fans were left disappointed.
Oxford was a busy place on Monday night, with demonstrators gathering for protests about a debate at the Oxford Union scheduled in nearby St Michael’s Street for 7pm. Hamilton’s signing had been due to end at 7pm.
Despite all this, most people seem to have enjoyed themselves - apparently the queue started to form at around ten in the morning.

Lewis Hamilton seems to be the latest Formula 1 sensation. At just 22 years old, he has already accomplished as a rookie what many F1 drivers took years to achieve. Hamilton was signed by McLaren’s Young Driver Programme at just 12 years old.
By 2005, he had won the Formula Three Euroseries racing for the ASM team. By 2006, he joined the ART Grand Prix teams in the GP2 series as a replacement for Nico Rosberg. His impressive performance in the GP2 series got him recognised in the business.

I've been reading a lot of stuff the past few days about how maybe we have it all wrong here in the UK. In the very last lap of qualifying (by all of the drivers), he drove superbly and beat Kimi Raikkonen by 0.102seconds. (Raikkonen probably robbed himself of pole position by hitting the dirt in the very last bend). Lewis probably gained half a second from the support of the local home crowd as evident by the massive roar that could be heard as he crossed the line at the end of Q3. Lewis Hamilton fenomenal! La pole parecía en manos de Alonso hasta que en la última vuelta, Kimi Raikkonen con salida de pista incluída hacía el mejor tiempo pero al final apareció Hamilton para hacer estallar de alegría a los 65.000 británicos presentes.
Finalmente el tiempo de la pole para Hamilton fue de 1:19:997, seguido por Kimi Raikkonen en segunda posición con un tiempo de 1:20.099, tercero Fernando Alonso con 1:20.147 y cerrando el cuarteto de elite, Felipe Massa con 1:20.265.
Excelente rendimiento del polaco Robert Kubica ubicándose en la 5ta posición a una décima y media del tiempo de Massa. Kubica superó ampliamente a su compañero de equipo Nick Heidfeld quien realizó un tiempo 5 décimas por detrás por lo que largará en la 9na posición.
Destacada actuación del Ralf Schumacher logrando su mejor clasificación del año, el alemán se colocó 6to y su Jarno Trulli con el otro Toyota largará desde la décima ubicación.

Sensacional carrera nuevamente del fantástico Lewis Hamilton quien ganó hoy su segundo gran premio de forma consecutiva derrotando en la pista al bicampeón Fernando Alonso.
Esta vez sin safety cars y penalizaciones la perla negra británica controló a la perfección a Fernando, otra vez una rotunda conducción sin ningún tipo de error.
La carrera se decidió en la primer curva donde ambos pilotos se respetaron, a pesar de que Fernando intentó superar a Lewis durante la primer vuelta. Según el español era muy complicado superar fundamentando que perdía adherencia cuando llegaba a la cola del McLaren de Hamilton. (more…)
