I really had no idea what I was getting into when I started this movie. I enjoyed Marlee Matlin’s performance on The L Word (honestly I watch it for the acting, it has nothing to do with the hot lesbians) and as far as William Hurt goes I was aware of his performance in The [...]
We often see in advertisements, infomercials, campaigns and other media how bad for the health cigarette is. In the actual products itself, the government warning would always be present. Because of these widely-spread warning against cigarettes, we have all been made familiar of the bad effects of cigarettes. However, through all of these campaign, the [...]
Google’s Picasa, now at version 2.7, has really matured in the past few months. The last time I tried it, it was still in its infancy, very slow, buggy, and was yet to be perfected. I tried it again over the weekend, and was simply stunned. Not only does it display images very smoothly and [...]

(On Wednesday I said there would be two posts. There weren’t due to various real life things cropping up. This post is the same subject matter - with a haiku added in - that I was going to post that evening)
Two weevils faced off

Is there a winner?
How can there be one

Obama and McCain continue to battle it out about the issue that most Americans seems to care about right now: the economy.
To hear each talk, it just can’t get much worse (can it?). McCain spins Obama’s tax proposal as “the biggest tax increase since World War II.” Obama compares McCain’s [...]

I was just sitting at the breakfast table. My dad was sleeping so I decided not to turn on the TV. So I am eating and doing some thinking. My reflection turned towards a phrase you are going to hear a lot when we get close to electing our next president. that phrase s "I'm Voting for the lesser of two evils" or something to that extent. Everyone who thinks they are doing as such and does not think they have another choice should be physically barred from voting. If you vote for the lesser of two evils instead of voting on principle and what you believe in you are abusing your democratic privilege. You might as well stay home because you will be contributing an equal amount to the process as if you would be by voting for the lesser of two evils. There are many things you could do inst

The best of this bunch in the Spanish Grand Prix has to be Red Bull’s Mark Webber, 7th in Bahrain and 5th (partly due to attrition) in Spain collecting a total of 6 points in those 2 races. Mark Webber has been driving well recently and deserves a look.
The same can’t be said about [...]

Everybody’s going to be talking about Philip Bobbitt’s new book Terror and Consent, which makes the terrorist threat sound scarier than President Bush ever has. According to Niall Ferguson’s front page review in the New York Times book section on Sunday, Bobbitt offers little encouragement to Bruce Springsteen and Mr. Bush’s other civil libertarian critics except [...]

Rubens Barichello, Mark Webber, and Giancarlo Fisichella so far are the standouts in this category with my edge going to Giancarlo Fisichella. I give him the edge over Rubens Barrichello just barely. Fisichella is silencing his critics just as much as Massa has to. After crashing out [...]

Η έκπληξη του 2004 μας ήρθε από βόρεια και συγκεκριμένα από τη Σουηδία. Οι Radio Dept.
I don’t like the idea of voting for John McCain. I’ve said it many times before, but I’m afraid we’re going to lose the Republican party to liberals if we keep voting for the lesser of two evils rather than insisting on quality conservative candidates.
On the other hand, Daniel Oliver made a great point on [...]

Feature of Google Analytics and a very nice one. Not only can you see what a visitor put into your internal search box, but what page they were on when they made the search and what page they chose in the search results. Any internal search will work as long as it passes the search variable through the URL. Heres a short video interview with Googles Brett Crosby on some of those features.strong>Filter out domains. Lets say your Google Analytics code somehow got on another site and your stats were getting tainted with irrelevant data. No problem. You can create a filter to not count anyone from specific domains you add in. Oddly enough, you can also filter out your own domain so your stats flat line. Not a good idea to do that though.
Vincent Van Gogh Masterpieces – Lesser Known Works
Vincent Van Gogh, in the course of only 10 short years, produced a vast and incredible body of work. Succeeding Rembrandt as the most recognizable Dutch artist, Van Gogh’s work, along with Cezanne and Gauguin, is universally recognized for extending the Impressionist work of the era and crafting [...]
There are claims that stress how much cigars are safer to smoke than cigarettes. Well, this is no a fact at all. It just so happened that cigar smokers are only occasional smokers and majority of the smoking population are into cigarettes so the gauge of how cigars is not that obvious. But, it must be known to people that cigars are not safer at all. The following are the reasons that would tell you that the choice of smoking cigar is not lesser evil than smoking cigarettes.• Tobacco is much in amount in cigars than cigarettes. This fact makes cigar much dangerous for as we all know, there are harmful elements found in tobacco. According to studies, a single cigar contains more tobacco than a whole pack of cigarettes. • Experts identified that cigarettes are containing lesser nicotine. Compared with 8 milligrams found in nicotine, cigars have 100 to 200 milligrams. This only shows how much danger cigar could cause over cigarettes.• A single cigar a day increases the possibility o
In September this year, this picture started appearing all over the Korean internet:
Paris Hilton needs no introduction of course, but the woman on the left is the subject of today’s post, 27 year-old Korean actor and model Han Eun-jeong (often spelt as “Han Eun Jung” if you want to find out more information about her yourself). At the time, Paris Hilton was in Seoul for a promotional tour for as part of her contract for Fila Korea, and if you’re interested, you can read about the details of her trip here and read bloggers’ thoughts on it and see many pictures here and here.
When this photo appeared during her visit many Korean netizens were left wondering why she had chosen to meet Han Eun-jeong rather than international celebrities like Lee Hyori and Jeon Ji-hyun instead, but as a quick 2 minute read showed, it turned out she didn’t - the Korean media were just so crazy about Paris Hilton during her week long stay, reporting on her every move, mea
Hi, and welcome to my first post on ZR5!
When I suggested to Andy last week that I could provide translations of articles about Korean stars for the blog, he readily agreed, and has given me free reign over my choice of subjects and style of posts. So, since then I’ve been thinking about how I can best be of service to readers, and I’ve decided I should use my Korean skills to let readers know more about Korean stars that are very popular and famous in Korea, but little known outside of the country (especially to English speakers). On that note, without any further ado let me introduce the actor Go Ara (고아라 in Korean), whom Andy has already briefly mentioned on the blog with some pictures here and a video of her dancing here. Many people thought that she danced a little awkwardly in that video, but as you can see in this commercial, she’s really not a bad dancer at all:
(The link to enlarge the video doesn’t appear to be working, so see here if you want
We first wrote about Megan last Monday. The reactions to the story were those of disgust, horror, anger, and outrage. Outrage over the death of Megan Meiers, a girl targeted by vicious adults. Outrage at the perpetrators of the hoax. Outrage that no charges have been filed. Lastly, outrage at the paper who broke the story, the Suburban Journals' decision to not identify the hoaxers. The names of the "alleged" hoaxers have been outed by bloggers. MySpace Cruel Prank Leads To Teen's SuicideA cruel and unbelievably vicious prank perpetrated upon a young girl has stripped away the Leave To Beaver veneer of a suburban St. Louis neighborhood. A fourteen year old girl is dead by her own hand, her parents shattered and in disbelief. There will never be justice for their precious daughter. Fourteen years old, Megan was a victim of a cruel hoax on MySpace. The end result of the hoax, Megan is dead by her own hand, the hoaxer exposed as parents of a former friend of Megan's. I usually post art at my sister site, Scattered Light, but found this in The Hindu, and thought you might like a look. Pictured above is C.D. Jain with his paintings at the Chitrakala Parishat. Using charcoal and water color, Jain’s light textures seem at odds with his subject—-broken children, battered by poverty. The images are stoic, portraying hopelessness through symbolic postures and muted colors. For the exhibition mentioned above, one wall showed children shattered by circumstance, while the other depicted happy images from the artist’s own childhood, contained within the frame of a wooden box. Images of dolls, trees and elephants from his village in Kerala, and “mother and child” scenes contrast with the loss of innocence. Universal themes, no?
When some things are left hanging in the office, chances are people will be uneasy when they get home where they should be resting or sleeping. There are mental impacts that pressured work and output place in anyone’s mind and chances are, they may be worrying about it too much, thinking of potential solutions and not being able to sleep at all.
This is something that does not really need to be elaborated. Even if it is not the office, thinking of something unsettled will often be something we will always want to think about until it is resolved. The victim in the end is still you since you are sacrificing sleep which is a need to complete and further study options for resolutions.

From breast cancer to man-boobs there is a little something for everyone to learn in this list generated by the folks at Body Philosophy. I don’t want to spoil it for you, so check it out for yourself — but I have to share my favorite from the list, good ‘ole Number Nine;
9. Man-boobs may be a medical condition
I think many of us mistakenly assume that men with breast-like pectorals are just a bit overweight. Not necessarily so. Obesity can contribute to the phenomenon, but there are many other factors that can contribute, including hormone imbalances, castration, medications, genetic disorders, liver disease, Klinefelter or Gilbert’s Syndrome, or even-possibly-marijuana use. The official term is gynecomastia, which comes from the Greek words meaning “woman” and “breast,” most nearly translating to “woman-like breasts.” While many think this condition is a joke, we should also remember that it can signal medical problems,
Our routine was to watch cartoons together every Saturday morning. We had done so all winter long, and my four-year-old mind could not reach back beyond those endless months of cold and snow. It was thus an unpleasant surprise, to say the least, when the first warm Saturday arrived and he loaded his golf clubs into the car, leaving me to the chill company of Bugs Bunny, Road Runner, and Wile E.
National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission had, in a recent case ruled that prepayment clauses are restrictive trade practices, which restrict the consumers' right to avail loans at a lesser rate of interest. Not only that, it called upon the country's largest bank, State Bank of India, to refund the Rs 40,000 it had collected as pre-payment charges from Usha Vaid, who had shifted to another bank. The forum said it appeared that this amount was charged as punishment to the consumer who sought transfer of the loan amount to another bank, giving a lower rate of interest. Now, The Supreme Court will decide whether it is right for banks and housing finance companies to charge pre-payment fees on customers repaying loans ahead of their tenure. What is your opinion? Please, let me know! A he

Although everyone is raving about Google Earth 4.2’s big new additions, which include the high res photos and the “Sky” feature, there are also a couple of less publicised but vitally important new features. Important mainly to marketers that is, because they enhance the experience we can offer our users.
The first is my favourite, in fact when I heard about it I got this geeky tingling feeling... Videos!
Up to now all you could show on your placemarks were static images. With GE 4.2 you can embed YouTube vids. It’s awesome, just think about the possibilities…
To check it out, download this placemark which I found on the Google Earth blog. You need to have Google Earth installed to run it, which you can download here.
The second addition is not quite as cool as it is useful to users (and that helps us marketers as well!). It’s the addition of more placemark icons which really enhance the experience on the layer. Take for example a tourism related
I read this valuable money saving tip this morning. According to the article, the most profitable name brands are usually placed at eye level because that's where they're most likely to, well, catch our eyes.

Stories in the news this morning state that the existence of the Lesser Flamingo is to come under threat from Industry on the shores of Lake Natron in Tanzania; upto 75% of Lesser Flamingo come to breed on the shores of Lake Natron and the birds will come under threat from a soda ash plant that industrialists plan to build there.
The RSPB have called the plans “Bonkers” and i have to agree with them, and the Tanzanian government must be “Bonkers” also to agree to go-ahead for the salt plant to be built. Now i don’t know much about Tanzania but i do know that the coming together of the Lesser Flamingo during the summer to breed on Lake Natron is an amazing spectacle, and if the Tanzanian government want to preserve this spectacle and their most famous wildlife then they need to put the breaks firmly on industrialists that could potentially harm the existence of the Flamingo.
At a time where the environment is heading towards a critical stage of surviva
Many third parties, much as I hate to say it, could probably benefit from being a little bit more conservative. Not with their political views, but with their hopes: they’re not often very realistic.
Michael Jingozian, for instance, says in his five-year plan (PDF file, and yes, “five-year plan” is exactly what this potential Green Party candidate calls it) that:
We believe we can squeak-out a win in 2008. But, if this doesn’t occur, then we expect to see an overwhelming mandate in 2012.
I’d love to believe that the two-party system could be completely abolished in five years, but it’s incredibly unlikely.
At this point, I am starting to have trouble imagining myself feeling particularly excited about any of the 2008 presidential candidates. The Republicans are fairly easy to rule out because I'm neither wealthy nor a Christian extremist. Their three front runners are embarrassingly inept, and it makes me wince to hear Internet sensation Ron Paul talk about getting rid of virtually every federal department or agency. Since I align myself much more with progressive politics, the Democrats seem to be the natural choice. Unfortunately, I'm not sure their leading candidates are much more appealing.Clinton, Edwards, and Obama are now falling over themselves in a mad scramble to win the Christian vote. It is hard to blame them for seeking the support of such a large majority of voters. The sad truth about modern America is that a presidential candidate can not remain competitive without pandering to religious groups. Our elections are determined by people who would never vote for someone the
The Lesser Known Student Rebellion of 1975
On the 13th of May 1975 Lone Poulsen, Chairperson of the University of Natal's Architectural Association (AA), led a student boycott that shut down the School of Architecture and put an end to apartheid's Multi Disciplinary Education for architects in the English Schools. This largely forgotten event had a strong impact on the education of architects in South Africa and opened the doors to the architectural training of Africans at South African Schools of Architecture. Yet another compilation track today. I swear I actually own some artist albums... you'll see...I try to keep abreast (I said "breast"... hehe) of every thing going down at the mighty Ninja Tune label, but somehow Mr. Chris Bowden has generally escaped my radar. Yes, even though I obviously own some of his music. Hey, I got a lot of stuff, okay? I can't know every obscure song on every obscure compilation! I'm just a man, dammit!Okay, I'm better now. Anyhoo, Mr. Bowden is apparently a jazz player by origin, a sax man. And Easy Access Orchestra are a couple of dudes who play horns in the Herbaliser live band. So all these horny dudes got together and twiddled their knobs and out came this lovely piece of bossa-tronica...Chris Bowden - Crockers & Killers (The Easy Access Orchestra Radio Edit)Buy It!By the way, I totally invented that word just then, and if I hear you use it, you owe me a nickel. Whether small borrowed amounts, pending departmental store bills, credit card dues or outstanding loan repayments, the bottom line is that they all need to be repaid. Most often the management of payments of various kinds, of different amounts, made out to different people, all arising at the same time can get not only unmanageable but also impossible. It’s at times like these that we need to ask for necessary assistance via Personal Debt Management. Personal Debt Management is all about managing personal finances in such a way that it does not allow debts to increase and also later debts get reduced. Clearly it is the matter of financial discipline. It is necessary to initiate personal debt management and for that first find out the route cause. In most of the cases credit cards are the culprits. People do not think twice before using credit cards. At that time price of commodities may sound cheaper but the payment is often delayed as card holder thinks of paying when next pay cheq
Part I: The Qabalistic Cross
Visualize yourself getting larger and larger, taller and taller, until you tower above the room you are in. Continue this growing visualization until the city you live in is small beneath your feet. See the continent as tiny compare to your majestic body. Now even the Earth is small beneath your feet. However, no matter how small the Earth is, it is still firm and solid beneath your feet, anchoring you to the ground. You will not float away.
At least once a day, I grumble, "Damn kids" (often in a thick drawl). I don't actually have kids, or even semi-regular contact with anybody else's kids, but I find that they make a handy scapegoat for everything under the sun. I wouldn't be surprised to find that some of the designers in this week's episode of Top Design might have uttered my little catchphrase more than once, especially considering that quite a few of their children's bedroom designs were worthy of condemnation.
Oh, yeah. They're back in the bottom two.
Okay, I'm still wary about picking any kind of favorites based on early episodes, but I'm really developing a soft spot for some of the folks on this show. For instance, Goil is in the running to be my favorite designer, given the creativity and energy he brings to challenges. Look at him; he made a maquette in his 30 minutes of allotted design time! I also love that he thought of his room as being interactive, moveable and "more than it appear
We arrived back in Portugal last night after spending three days driving here from Guildford, via the Dover to Calais ferry. A lot of this was boring (and sometimes expensive) motorway, but the best parts were spent following our cycles routes, either in reverse for the first part of France, or just as we did a few months ago across Spain.
It is an interesting mix of pride and astonishment to see exactly how far we travelled each day. 50 miles a day may not sound like much but even in the car we would be lucky to do that in an hour. The hills aren't any less deceptive either, I actually checked to make sure my hand brake wasn't on at one stage, then released we were going up the same climb that had caught us out last time, it really looks flat but the engine was struggling and telling me otherwise.
Yesterday we were in Spain for the sunset and it was absolutely gorgeous. Most of our route across was stunning, and on lovely quiet roads too. If only it wasn't so far from England, and

Potassium is one of the most important minerals for human health, playing an essential role in maintaining the correct electro-chemical balance in cells and the proper functioning of cell membranes This role makes potassium vital for muscle contraction (including the heart muscle), the transmission of nerve impulses, the regulation of blood sugar levels and the synthesis of vital proteins and acids
