      Fight night in Leeds
Anyone want a lodger? Searchlight reports from inside the highly charged Yorkshire meetingThe long trailed Fight night in Leeds City Centre yesterday turned into a pantomime as rival factions within the BNP slugged it out over a mince pie and a Christmas sherry. Leading the proceedings was local football hooligan Tony MacDonald, better known to Searchlight supporters as Tony Mac. Smashing a glass on a table he charged at Mark Collett promising to "cut your throat", forcing the much maligned and recently demoted graphic designer to flee out the fire escape. The rest of the evening was no less exciting as speaker after speaker spewed poison into the festive air. The highlight of the evening for me personally was the confirmation of the existence of a photo of Nick Griffin doing a Nazi salute. More of this later. The contest was held at the Dog and Gun in Leeds City Centre, a regular meeting place for the BNP. We were greeted on our arrival by Ian Dawson handing out questions for the au

Major Development Headed to Leeds Adjacent to the New Bass Pro Shop and Barber Motor Sports Park
Continued good news for Leeds, Alabama as Daniel Corporation announced that it will build "Grand River" which will include 940 homes and an outlet mall all adjacent to the new and much anticipated Bass Pro Shop and Barber Motor Sports Park. In an article in the Birmingham News, Patrick Hickerson reported that groundbreaking should begin on the the outlet mall in early 2008 followed by the 940 house which make up the first phase of the development. The total cost of the project is almost $135 million dollars and the developers plan to make a planned effort to create an environmentally friendly development. The developers are looking to Audubon International and the Cahaba River Society to advise on the environmental aspects of the project. In a sign of a progressive city government (which Birmingham Mayor Larry Langford should take notice) the City of Leeds will contribute nearly 40 million dollars for roads and utilities. It sure is nice seeing a city pick itself up by its Bootstraps

Bass Pro Shop in Leeds Construction Started
Bass Pro Shops has broken ground on its 340,000 square foot store in Leeds, Alabama (a suburb of Birmingham, Alabama). This store should be a great start in revitalizing both commercial and residential real estate in the Leeds community. In the recent past business and residents have left  the Leeds area. The location on Interstate 20 at Exit 140 is perfect as it will reach not only the residents of Birmingham, Alabama but also the many out of state travellers that travel one of Alabama's busiest roadways. The Bass Pro Shop that opened in Prattville, Alabama has been wildly successful and we can only hope that the same results happen here, as that area of town could use a good commercial boost!

Did the FA screw up Leeds United's punishment?
When Leeds United entered into administration last May, they received a ten-point deduction of their current standing in the Championship and assured themselves a place in League One this season. It was a highly questionable yet shrewd move by Ken Bates, the team's chairman, especially considering that in September 2006, the manager at that time, Kevin Blackwell, announced that within a year the club would be debt free. I can understand the circumstances of a poor season taking it's toll on a club's revenue, but that's a pretty drastic toll. All suspicions aside, or maybe not, a group led by the aforementioned Bates purchased the club out of administration, despite claims that higher bids were made to KPMG who were the holding administrators. Eventually an agreement of reduced-debt payment was reached though the amount expected to be repaid is not known. It is assumed to be more than the 8% of the £35m, or £2.8m, originally agreed upon. After the Football League approved the sa

      Leeds United nereye
Tarihinde 3 İngiltere Ligi şampiyonluğu bulunan Leeds United'da, zor günler devam ediyor. 2004'te girdiği mali darboğaz sonrası iflastan kurtulamayan ve peş peşe küme düşerek 3. lige kadar inen sarı-lacivertli kulüp, şimdi de federasyon üyeliğini kaybetti. İngiltere Federasyonu’ndan yapılan açıklamada, kulübün yeni ödeyemediği vergi borçları nedeniyle böyle bir yaptırıma gidildiği belirtildi. Federasyonun verdiği ceza Leeds United'ın ligde mücadelesine engel teşkil etmiyor ancak sarı-lacivertli kulüp federasyondaki, oy kullanma gibi, tüzel kişilik haklarını kaybedecek. Bu yıl içinde Ken Bates tarafından kayyum yönetiminden tekrar satın alınan kulüp, sezon içindeki el değiştirme çalışmaları federasyon tarafından kurallara uygun bulunmadığı için yeni sezona eksi 15 puanla başlamıştı.

But after viewing some of the outstanding performances this year, i'm even more determined to attend. However for now you'll have to do with my review of the festival through watching highlights courtesy of BBC Radio 1. There were SO many great bands at the festival this year, which meant there were many good sets, however the following bands in my opinion gave really inspired performances, who really took things to the next level, and completely owned the stage.LOSTPROPHETS : Since releasing third album "Liberation Transmission", LP have developed a stage presence and sound that has truly taken them above their piers. IIFA Awards 2007 in Leeds Pictures
I discovered a very wonderful album website on Bollywood’s IIFA Awards. The prestigious International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) is Bollywood’s equivalent of the Oscars - was in Yorkshire, England from 7-10 June 2007. On the side of the glamourous Awards Ceremony, there was a celebrity cricket match featuring some of Bollywood famous stars such as ARJUN RAMPAL. Arsenal 6-0 Leeds (Ladies Do It Again!!)
Twenty-two games, 22 wins. Arsenal Ladies completed a 'perfect' league campaign on Sunday with a comfortable 6-0 victory over Leeds United at the Arsenal training ground. Kelly Smith scored a hat-trick to take her tally for the season to 30 and Lianne Sanderson netted once to reach an even more impressive haul of 40. Captain Jayne Ludlow and substitute Gemma Davison were also on target. As for Leeds? Well, like every other side in the Premier League this season, they simply had no answer to Arsenal's pace, power and finishing. The 2006/07 campaign will be remembered for the Ladies' unprecedented quadruple - the champions have also lifted the Uefa Cup, League Cup and FA Cup. But this is perhaps their most impressive achievement. Vic Akers' side have maintained their lofty standards for 33 hours of league football, overcoming serious injuries and no little fatigue to make history. Vic Akers will reflect on a job well done when he heads off for his summer ho

      Derby County 2 - 0 Leeds United
Here are the highlights including a mini-report on Leeds (Sorry ;)):Download hereDerby returned to winning ways with a professional performance againstLeague One bound Leeds.Derby 2-0 LeedsBy Jourdan RhuleThe contest provided little significance for either side - the Rams werealready guaranteed of a third-placed finish and a place in the play-offs,meanwhile Leeds were already relegated after slumping into adminstration andprovoking a 10-point deduction earlier this week. This was reflected early on as neither side looked particularly menacing andurgent, although the delay due to referee Phil Crossley's injury didn't helpmatters. It wasn't until the 24th minute that either defence lookedstretched and Craig Fagan was the tormentor for the visitors as he poweredfrom midfield before dragging his shot wide. This seemed to breathe lifeinto the game as the tackles began to fly in - Morten Bisgaard was a victimto full blooded challenges from Alan Thompson & Hayden Foxe - and goalmouthopportu

Freedom of expression and Dr Kuentzel’s lecture The public lecture due to be given by Dr Matthias Kuentzel on the evening of Wednesday 14 March was cancelled neither for any reason of censorship, nor because of pressure from any interest group. Gates in Leeds - Metallic Carpentry
A friend of mine specialises in wrought ironwork (gates, railings, etc...) and is one of the few suppliers in Leeds, Yorkshire that actually has a website - Metallic CarpentryHe is interested in getting some better search engine rankings and I was happy to offer a few suggestions. One of the first things I recommended was to set a proper TITLE tag with a good description that includes the right keywords. In this case Gates in Leeds. The same can also be done with ALT tags in the images and links.I did a sample search on "gates in Leeds" to see who Metallic Carpentry would be competing with and there was really only one result on the first page that was offering a competing service. That suggests it shouldn't be too difficult to get a listing on the first page. The #1 position was held by the competing website but, interestingly, had no mention of "gates in Leeds" on its homepage. Then I noticed the big green area at the bottom of the website.I held down the left button and dragged... Leeds, Leeds, Leeds!
Leeds United have put themselves within a hairs-breadth of making it back into the Premiership after their impressive 2-0 win over Preston earlier in the week. While the last few games of the seasons were somewhat of an anti-climax, this season has seen some incredibly spirited performances; a credit to manager Kevin Blackwell. The play-off finals takes place on May 21 against Watford in Cardiff's Millennium Stadium. Fingers crossed!

Leeds lose points appeal - justice has been done
This is not a Leeds-baiting article. Fans of the club thought that it might be a case of celebration [...]
