Response to Criticism of Joseph Smith’s “Lectures on Faith”
I was looking up something from Joseph Smith’s Lectures on Faith that he gave in 1835 and I came across Jerry Stokes’ website.  In his website he compares these lectures to the Word of Faith movement (which I’ve never heard of before) and says it is heretical.  I will have to agree with him that many [...]

Ex-stripper Ruth Fowler lectures liberals on liberalism
Ruth Fowler Clearly Ruth Fowler is in love with herself. Clearly she is in love with her body. She's an ex-stripper. Just take a peek at her website. Clearly she is in love with her own words. And clearly she loves being identified as a “Sociopathic Narcissist.” But without any of this we wouldn't be treated to this cranky opinion piece about armchair liberals who don't have the courage of their conviction to get off their butts and actually do something with their liberalism. The column meanders a bit and she seems to be a little confused about the true definition of “liberal,” but it's fun reading nonetheless.Club RulesBy Ruth Fowler For The GuardianA friend of mine said wistfully the other day: "Politically I'm on the left, but Tories are so much more fun to hang out with. MSNBC's Carlson lectures reporter on ethics
Here's a rather interesting exchange between MSNBC's Tucker Carlson and British journalist Gerri Peev, the reporter with The Scotsman who quoted Barack Obama adviser Samantha Powers calling Hillary Clinton a “monster.” Carlson accuses Peev of deliberately quoting an off-the-record comment. But Peev reminds Carlson that off-the-record agreements are made before the tape recorder rolls, noting rather haughty, "Are you really that acquiescent in the United States?" Carlson responds: "Since journalistic standards in Great Britain are so much dramatically lower than they are here, it's a little much being lectured on journalistic ethics by a reporter from The Scotsman." “Really!” Peev replies. Reader Suggestion: College Lectures
I had asked yesterday if anyone desired a specific entry. The first reply wanted me to discuss what a typical college lecture was like. So, I'll do my best to describe class fairly, without my bias interfering with the facts.Disclaimer: Every lecturer is a bit different in style and delivery, so this is what to generally expect.Classes fall under three different categories. The first is a lecture, the second is a discussion, and the third is a read-along.Lecture classes are typically the toughest for students. They require constant note taking and incessant attention. The lecturer bases his exams on the material presented in class, so if you miss a day try to get the materials from a classmate. A lecturer, using the blackboard, white board, or power point, presents and discusses the inform

iTunes U — are the canned lectures a benefit to the students … or to the professors?
In his article YouTube U. Andy Kessler suggests it’s the professors. Some highlights: Without much fanfare, college lectures are being put online, for free. MIT lectures can be downloaded from iTunes University, and you can watch Cal professors pontificate on your computer via YouTube. Is this some new trend? Do colleges feel threatened by Wikipedia? Something funny is going on. No one gives anything away for free without some ulterior motive. I mean, don’t they know college is big business? Right now, 17 million students are involved in higher education, some higher than others. As a business, college is growing faster than sales of multicolored Crocs. Since 1980, the population of students under 25 has grown 40 percent–and for those over 25, it’s up even more at 52 percent. Is this what your neighbors are doing during the day? Could be. Even better (for colleges, anyway), since 2002 tuition has jumped 35 percent in real terms (that’s adjusted for in

Saudi Arabia Lectures the EU on Human Rights
Brussels Journal - The “Human Rights Commission” of Saudi Arabia, a country where slavery was formally abolished as late as the 1960s and is still practiced more or less openly (it is allowed according to sharia law), now lectures Europeans on Islamophobia. Notice that this is not an isolated incident; it is part of a sustained, ongoing effort with the explicit goal of surrendering half a billion Europeans to Islam.Saudi Arabia’s Human Rights Commission (HRC) will urge its counterparts in the European Union to ask their governments not to link terrorism to Islam and also to issue regulations to protect Muslims from prejudice and discrimination because of their faith. The government-funded rights body will also address various human rights issues in Europe: when Muslims are unjustly interrogated, treated with disrespect, physically or mentally abused, or not allowed to practice their faith freely such as Muslim girls being prevented from wearing the hijab (head cover) in some scho

Dictator Mugabe Lectures Bush On Human Rights
President Robert Mugabe, who has driven his nation into utter economic ruin and bullied and tortured opponents, gave a fiery speech at the UN denouncing George Bush as a hypocrite. “His hands drip with innocent blood,” shouted the president of Zimbabwe, “of many nationalities. He kills in Iraq. He kills in Afghanistan. And he is supposed to be our master on human rights?” George Bush still doesn’t grasp how his failure to adhere to basic human rights and his boasting about violence do not lead people to regard him a a defender of individual rights. It is sad that America is being given a lecture on human rights by a notorious brute who has never been a supporter of such rights to fellow Zimbabweans.

      Lectures pré-votation
