This is a great book for Photoshop. I own several Photoshop books and this one is by far the best I have read so far. From the title you might think it is just for advanced users, since it seems to be rather specialized. Even the author seems to think only experienced users will read the book. That is all wrong.By the time you have finished a third of this 250 page book, you will not only know the layers palette (there is a great diagram on page 6), and the layers menu. He sets out his idea of the thirty essential tools, commands, palettes, and menus that you will use most often (with shortcuts) all in easy to refer to tables on pages 35-41. Weather data added to Google Earth Layers. The Weather folder contains 3 sub-layers: Clouds, Doppler Radar and Conditions and Forecasts, as also one Information link with background information. Radar and Conditions and Forecasts are provided by Weather.com. Clouds come from the Naval Research Laboratory. The Radar data is limited to the US but they are working on covering more areas. All other regions are limited to clouds and forecasts. Note: The information link lets you download time animations for the Clouds and Radar Layer. I've tried to incorporate foot prints and hand prints in my latest layout titled "One Size Bigger" in my family gallery. I guess most of us had taken photographs about foot and hand and are would liked to use our foot or hand prints in that layout but are lost in ideas. I hope that this technique that I've shared here would be of any help.My technique of incorporating foot and hand prints is as follows:1. First get your hand and foot prints onto some cardstocks or papers. 2. Trim your cardstocks or papers in any design you want and placed them onto the background of your layout. 3. Create a freestyle mask and cut it out. Don't throw away the negatives (of the mask). 4. Create a design using your mask and also your negatives as stencil. This is a technique called "mixture of masking and stenciling in layers". Do as many layers as you want and let your creativity flow. 5. In my layout, I even attached the masks as part of the design. This is a technique which I've used in my latest layout titled "Determination" in my family gallery. The title of the layout actually gave me the inspirations to use this technique on the layout. You need a lot of patience and determination in this technique. To create a background using this "inking in layers with masks" technique, simply follow the steps below:1. Placed your masks in any design you want on a cardstock. Stick it down using some temporary adhesives or just use a normal sticky tape and fold it in a circle. 2. Using triangle shaped cosmetic sponge, inked on all the edges of the masks. You can use whatever colours you wish.3. Remove the masks and you will have your first layer. Don't worry about its' first look as it will gets better as you add more layers to it.4. Place the masks for your second layer and inked on it again. (repeat step 2)5. This image has been posted before, … about a year ago. It did not transfer during the mass move from Blogger. Thought I would post it again. This miniature rose was photographed using the Canon 100mm macro and the Nikkor 50mm 1.4 lens attached in reverse. The petals already gave a nice layered look about them that is very appealing when viewed normally. Looking at them with the setup used, it helped to capture that layered look and keeping them at a depth that was pleasing. This particular rose is actually more of a gold color, but with the lighting used, it turned out a bit more orange. We've been enjoying the warm weather. February is one of my favorite times of the year in Laredo--just starting to warm up (before we have our really hot days) and finally over the cold season (well, what passes for cold here). I've finally had to shelf one of my favorite sweaters, the big brown one, that I only get to wear a month or two out of the year.
