This is also another technique that I've used in my latest layout. I've hand stitched in zig-zag twice using two different tones of threads. I remembered some of my blog readers had asked me how do you hand stitch on a layout? Well, I do not have a sewing machine. Therefore the only way for me to stitch is hand stitching. To make hand stitching easy, first, layer under your layout a piece of crafting foams or white foams (something soft). Then use a sharp tool i.e needle, twizzer, to poke all the stitching holes first. This would lessen the hassle of having to poke through your thick card stock later and it will make your stitches look more machine liked and even.

Well, I am officially past the “half” of NaBloPoMo, and still going like a slightly decelerated Energizer Bunny. I have designated Fridays in November as “Dessert Recipe Days,” and I have a good one for you today. Its not pumpkin or remotely Thanksgiving-y, but it is lovely.
It is not as authentic as Alton Brown’s version, which sounds good, but requires that you start by buying whole coconuts to get the milk to make the cake AND that you make your own coconut flakes. I admire Alton’s enthusiasm (seriously, I do) and if I was in a position to spend hours making a single cake (other than my Buche de Noel, which always takes hours to make) I’d be all over it. This recipe is a compromise; it is an honest-to-goodness scratch cake, and no power tools are required to obtain any necessary ingredients. Prague, October 15, 2007 - DTP Tools today announced the release of its new Layer Comps plug-in for InDesign CS-CS3. Layer Comps provide a convenient way to store a snapshot of certain key aspects of your documents layers. A simple click in the palette lets you name and save your current view of layer visibility and editing state as a Layer Comp. You can create as many as you like, without substantially expanding your file size.
Layer Comps plug-in is a response to many feature request placed by InDesign users who use this feature in Photoshop and miss it in InDesign. Layer Comps plug-in is sold separately and as a part of Layer Tools bundle, which also contains Layer Groups plug-in. Layer Groups plug-in was also updated today.

New layer for Google Earth with Geotagged YouTube videos. Click on the YouTube button in the featured content folder and little YouTube icons with videos will appear on the map. YouTube videos only appear on Google Earth when people geotagged them and allow embedding.

As reported by the Google Earth Blog, there is now a new layer in Google Earth for geotagged YouTube videos. In the Windows version of GE the videos appear right in the description bubbles; in the Mac and Linux versions you get a link to view the video in a browser.
It works like most other layers - as you zoom further in, more videos appear. To get your video to appear, simply allow embedding and map its location. It should then appear in the next layer update, which occurs roughly once a month.

This is inspired by one of the clock that I saw on the new Window Vista. I love how they've designed the clock to be a flower. So I've thought of using the ghost clocks by heidi swapp to do this. In my latest layout title "Confused" in my baby gallery, I've included a clock flower as above. I've used a cheap fabric sunflower and stamped on it using a butterfly stamp to create a more sophisticated look. Then I've put a ghost clock on top of it. To create more dimensions to it, I've use a cut out circle from corrugated paper and a large polka dot brad.

As reported by Ogle Earth, the amazing 3D buildings in Hamburg are now in the buildings layer of Google Earth.
Stefan says, “You will need a graphics card from the future — unless you are really close in, flying around Hamburg is done at extremely low fps… more like fpm”. This will become more of an issue in the future as more buildings find their way into Google Earth.
A few months ago, I suggested to the Google Earth team that they handle 3D buildings in a somewhat similar manner as Virtual Earth - low quality as you’re far away, higher quality as you zoom in. While I’m sure that’s quite a technical hurdle, they must be considering something of that nature to help combat this growing performance problem.
