CAPTAIN Shoaib Malik said overnight he believes Pakistan's new coach, Geoff Lawson, can bring some of the winning mentality of world champion Australia to his team. Former Test paceman Lawson was appointed Pakistan coach earlier this month, and joins the team on August 20 ahead of the inaugural Twenty20 World Cup in South Africa in September. Malik told Reuters: "The players are very happy that Lawson has joined us. He is an Australian - born and bred in their cricket system and there is no doubt the Australian cricket system is the best in the world today." I often joke with my friends that I live in the middle of Sticksville Suburbia - about a 20 minute drive from my home and you encounter paddocks of sleepy-eyed sheep and horses grazing side by side, and there’s an entire strip of road with small-scale farms all side by side selling things from fresh bok choi to bags of apples for eating and juicing. About every second Saturday, I take a trip to these green pastures to stock up on juicing apples and carrots, but also to check out any other produce that may be available, sometimes grabbing bargains on bags of Chinese greens, cabbages, potatoes and other assorted produce.
Last week’s trip, we stopped off at one farm to check out their carrots, when I happened to spot a giant wagon out the front with bags of limes, $1 per kg!

FORMER Pakistan captains Javed Miandad, Intikhab Alam and Zaheer Abbas have criticised the national board for choosing Geoff Lawson as its new coach. "How can you expect a foreigner to have the same feeling of patriotism or nationalism that a Pakistani does? Instead of bringing in foreigners the board should first try to improve the grass-root cricket level," said Miandad. Leeds (UK) based DJ, producer and 20:20 Vision label owner Ralph Lawson has been chosen to mix the next installment of Fabric's acclaimed compilation series.
To be released in March, Lawson's Fabric mix features 16 tracks from the likes of Will Saul, Joakim, Greenskeepers, Justus Köhncke, Dennis Ferrer, Marc Romboy, Vernon, Swag, and many others.
Lawson has been DJing since late eighties. He holds the honour of playing the first ever record at the legendary Leeds club Back To Basics. Besides his own name, he has produced and released records under the monikers 2020 Soundsystem (together with Danny Ward, Fernando Pulichino and Julian Sanza), Chuggles, Otaku, Soul Edge, Spikey, Urban Farmers, Wolf n' Flow, etc.
