A legal secretary at one of Washington's most prominent and well-connected law firms, Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, has been suspended after telling her bosses she secretly worked at night for the escort service run by the so-called D.C. Madam, Jeane Palfrey.
The woman both serviced clients and, at times, helped to run the business, Palfrey told ABC News in an interview to be broadcast on "20/20" Friday.
The firm said it would not make her name public.
According to e-mails the woman sent to Palfrey on her Akin Gump account, she "enjoyed and even missed" the work she did at night for Palfrey, who has been charged by federal prosecutors with running a large scale prostitution ring. more

But there is a link between the two, according to the Texas Ethics Commission. Giuliani's law firm, Bracewell and Giuliani, is making money by lobbying American lawmakers on behalf of Citgo Petroleum Corp. of Houston. Citgo is the American subsidiary of Petroleos de Venezuela -- the state-owned Venezuelan oil company.
Bracewell and Giuliani made as much as $150,000 from the lobbying in 2005-06 and will make up to $100,000 this year, according to the ethics comm

Only three percent of respondents reported a budget decrease for 2007, compared to six percent just a couple of years ago.Data storage and imaging topped the list of researched items in the exhibit hall this year, while respondents reported electronic discovery software as the top software product researched. In a recent court case, the United States Bankruptcy Court, New York has distinctly stated a credit card company's obligation to its clients. Attorney Thomas Stagg of reputed New York based Law firm Simmons, Jannace & Stagg, LLP, obtained the important ruling. The ruling obtained by simmons jannace stagg Law firm is on the topic of "discharge violation" claims asserted by debtors against creditors following discharge in state of bankruptcy. The ruling is important to both the debtors and the creditors. In In re Bruno, __ B.R. __, 2006 WL 3086307 (Bankr. W.D.N.Y. Oct 31, 2006), the ruling clarifies that a creditor does not violate the discharge injunction contained in 11 U.S.C. § 524 on the grounds of non statement of an account as discharged in state of bankruptcy.
