In Style was doing a special on Lanvin, on and off the runway. A couple of them we had seen on here but a couple were new images to me. It is interesting to see them on models and then celebrities. Not that both aren't skinny but the gowns look more real on the red carpet and you can imagine yourself in them more easily.images from instyle.com

Unfortunately, Lanvin's not exactly the most accessable brand -its designs are admired by the fashion crowd but they don't get copied too much by highstreet stores (compared to other brands like Balenciaga and Miu Miu,) and of course, most people can't afford Lanvin clothes -maybe some people can afford the accessories.The huge ruffles was one of the main features. I don't know why but I'm drawn to this Lanvin Metallic Bowler. But I'm biased because I really have a thing for metallic leather bags! The silver and gold metallic colors could have made it gaudy but the simple shape gives it some class and the chain link handles are a nice alternative to the typical rolled leather handles. It's the perfect travel bag or gym bag - when you want something different than a boring black duffel or canvas tote and prefer something flashy, like I do! It's stylish, eye-catching and very well-made, as you would expect from Lanvin.
I saw this fab Lanvin necklace delicately grazing Sarah Michelle-Gellar's neck. I love the combination of the satin ribbon with the pearls. It is so delicate and obvi, Mrs. Freddie Prinze, Jr. is channeling Audrey Hepburn. It is such a classy look. Her frilly dress and the haute necklace strikes a delicate balance. It is sexy and classy and not over or understated. Lanvin created a couple of ribbon pearl combos but this is my absolute favorite. Check out Barney's for other colors. This exact necklace is available on-line at Barney's New York for $715. P.S. that dress is FIERCE! She layered two of the necklaces for this look. I enjoyed reading this article by Linda Grant, Lanvin: a hidden allure which offers us a history lesson about Jeanne Lanvin's rise to fame in the fashion industry. It's amazing how long the brand has lasted considering Jeanne Lanvin wasn't a self-promoter and didn't have any public relations. She simply had a love for quality. Alber Elbaz, the current designer for Lanvin, saw something in this brand to give it new life. It wasn't until this year did I really pay attention to Lanvin - more so because of the recent bold and chic ad campaigns in the fashion glossies. Its all in the sleeve or lack there of at the Lanvin runway show. Big Bows accentuate simple dresses. I think the trend this season was a back to basics look, many of the designers are doing some pretty simple retro stuff. I would wear them with shirts under to add more layers and flair, add a belt or soemthing. Its pretty cool, because you can play up or play down the dresses.I loved the accessories, the neclace and pumps were banging!
No, I don't mean the illegal terrorist-supporting and child labor using replicas. I just mean a really well inspired Lanvin look-alikes from... Gap! They are being sold for $30-$40 and I have to admit that it is pretty cheap comaring to the actual Lanvin flats. Yes, they quality may not be as great, but hey, you might get tired of them sooner than they start to break and rip. And the beauty of it is that you won't feel guilty throwing the old ones out and getting yourself a new pair. Maybe even in some new funky color! They are rather pleasent to wear and the leather is pretty soft, too. Definitelly a great replacement for those who don't wanna splurge on the real deal.If Gap isn't really cool enough for you, try out the NINE WEST flats. These are also very comfortable and isn't the ostrich-like pattern looking cute? Those are sold for the dubble of what the Gap flats cost, but that is still so much less than the Lanvins. I really think that is a great and a very much cheaper way
Lanvin ballet flats and boots seem to be quite popular these days. Even though the flats were last years collection they are still the most sought out item. And why wouldn't they be?
