      Moroccan Lanterns - Pet Friendly!
Moroccan lanterns can be great accents to any room - they are especially interesting for pet lovers because they are off the ground and are not a danger to your cats or dogs. When you have traditional floor lamps, the power cords can be harmful to your pet as well as the lamp itself. [...]

      Christmas Lanterns
Christmas is definitely my favorite holiday above all. I enjoy seeing those Christmas house decors especially those exceptional and amazing decors at malls, hotels and business establishments like in Makati area. At home, hubby and I usually fill the front house with some decors and for this year we added one big lantern at the center of the second floor. When it comes to lanterns, Pampanga is

Vomiting blood and rampaging through space killing anything in their way, the Red Lanterns look more like the infected zombies from the movie "28 Days L

What to do with those leftover Jack-O-Lanterns…
This picture came off the FlickR feed. If I’m not mistaken, it’s an Aldabran tortoise at an unknown zoo. They are the largest living tortoise species. Adult males are often over 500 pounds. The oldest Aldabran on record was 255 years old when he died. I saw an Aldabran when I visited the Charles Paddock [...]

How cool is this? These jars glow just like glow sticks. If we have a little extra time on our hands today I'm definitely going to try & "throw this together". All that is required is a lidded jar, a box of matches, some hydrogen peroxide & a little household bleach. I'm almost positive i have that all sitting around someplace. Already I'm imagining a walkway lined with lots of little glow

Comic Book Review: Final Crisis: Rage of the Red Lanterns #1
The Revolution enjoyed the Sinestro War and is looking forward to the upcoming Blackest Night event. So, naturally, I am interested in Final Crisis: Rage of the Red Lanterns #1. I have a feeling that this issue will be a Final Crisis tie-in issue in name only and actually have nothing at all to do with DC’s current big event. I would expect that Final Crisis: Rage of the Red Lanterns #1 is desig

Lanterns On The Lake - Caught On the Way
This is a turn up for the books, a band from Newcastle to really treasure. Can’t recall a single band of note coming from there, which is rather surprising given its population’s emotive nature (insight gained purely from watching their football fans). Lanterns on the Lake are a relatively new proposition (they were previously known as Greenspace) but they have already amassed an impressive batch of lush melodic tunes. Led by Hazel Wilde’s free spirited vocals there is something otherworldly about what they offer. There are glimpses of the Cocteau Twins and This Mortal Coil but ultimately Lanterns on the Lake present a convincing dream pop sound that is uniquely their own. ‘Caught On The Way’ is sumptuous throughout with Wilde’s vocal fragility matched only by the lightly spray

      Chinese Lanterns
Kung Hei Fat Choi! This is my chinese new year entry as we welcome the Year of the Earth Rat tomorrow. I remember the good ol' days when I used to stay at my mom's office in Chinatown, Manila. Every chinese new year they hang two red chinese envelopes with money (ang pao) and a piece of cabbage on their office ceiling and they would wait for the longest dragon dance group that would pass by and invite them in to dance for luck and take the ang pao. I remember the loud tune and sound of drums as the dragon would dance and act as if they are ready to prance on anyone. When I was 3 years old, I remember being frightened at those dragons because they seem very intimidating, but now I kind of miss seeing a dragon dance performance. It's been almost 5 or 6 years since I've seen one originating f

Philippine lanterns illuminate Vienna Advent Festival
VIENNA - The official lighting of lanterns from Pampanga province in the Philippines took place on November 19, 2007 in front of Vienna's City Hall. The San Fernando City government, through the initiative of Mayor Oscar Rodriguez, donated 60 San Fernando lanterns to the Philippine Embassy in Vienna. The lanterns decorate one of 11 trees in the Rathausplatz in the Christkindlmarkt grounds, one of the biggest and most popular Christmas markets in Europe. Hundreds of stalls on the vicinity of the city hall were being installed. The stalls offer European and exotic foods, drinks and a lot of Christmas souvenirs. Indeed, it was a "tiangge"-like atmosphere. The Vienna Christkindlmarkt runs for six weeks from the third weekend of November to Christmas Day. It attracts an estimated three million tourists from Austria and neighboring countries. The simultaneous lighting of the Philippine lanterns was officiated by Ambassador Linglingay Lacanlale and Dr. Elisabeth Vitouch from the Vienna city

      Iowa to Tax Jack-O’-Lanterns
When I first started reading this story, I assumed that the reason Iowa was instituting a jack-o’-lantern tax was something to this effect: Jack-o’-lanterns decay, and when they decay they let off noxious fumes, these fumes rise into the air causing our atmosphere to raise in temperature, this causes the ice caps to melt, which in turn kills the polar bears and floods North America.  But that is not the case. Iowa has a six percent sales tax, but food is exempt from sales tax. So Iowa has decided that since most people don’t eat pumkins, they carve them, pumkins should be subject to sales tax.  What happens if you want to make a pumpkin pie, do you still have to pay sales tax? No, you may fill out an Iowa Sales Tax Exemption Certificate and be tax free. How much money do you think it costs the state of Iowa to print the certificates and enforce the law? Could you ever envision a time in this country when before you buy a food you have to certify that you are going

      Back-O-Lanterns
It’s officially Halloween, so today’s subject matter contains all of the elements of a classic horror tale. Things are not always as they appear…There are unnatural creatures walking the Earth that were born 100% human, but are now…SOMETHING ELSE! Creatures altered by cutting edge science…Creatures that at first appear normal, then “AAAAAHHHH!” They turn around and hit you with that otherworldy suprise. These creatures are called…Ass-O-Lanterns! In other words, women with butt implants. A nice ass is a thing of beauty, and to quote the poet John Keats, “A thing of beauty is a joy forever; it’s lovliness increases; it will never pass into nothingness.” Women who have been blessed in that area should cherish it as a gift from God, and try not to laugh too hard at the less-fortunate women of the world with sub-par booties.  Nowadays, more and more women are getting implants to give them the appearance of a big a

      Lanterns (Mid Autumn Festival)
Mid Autumn festival is coming on 25 Sep. Families in Hong Kong will get prepared to celebrate this traditional Chinese festival. We will buy mooncakes, some seasonal fruits like apples, pears (梨), peaches (桃), grapes, pomegranates (石榴) , melons, oranges and pomelos (柚子). My mother will prepare a great dinner for the family on that day. Yummy Yummy...I remember that in my childhood, my mom took me, my sister and brother to buy lanterns every mid-autumn festival. It is quite funny that eveytime, my sister chose rabbit lantern, I chose an aeroplane lantern and my brother chose tank lantern. haha... I really miss the lanterns I played in the past. The craftsmanship of the traditional lanterns are much better than nowaday's plastic ones. I took some pictures yesterday at Sham Shui Po where there are around 4 or 5 stores selling lanterns. The stores hang their lanterns on front of their stores to get attention from customers. The lanterns comes from different sizes, shapes, color

      artistic homemade lanterns
The Mid Autumn Festival is coming soon. Looking back, it was an occasion of great anticipation as I pestered mom to buy me my favourite lantern. I would pick the brightest cellophane lanterns in shapes of butterfly, flowers, birds or fish. The festival would never be complete without my favourite mooncake. I would eat only the yummy egg yolk and leave the lotus paste behind :)I attended Clayton school's lantern festival celebration last Friday which was packed with lots of his schoolmates and teachers. There was a homemade lantern competition and I was impressed by the submissions. From recycled styrofoam lunch boxes to toilet rolls, many of the homemade lanterns were artistic and innovative. If only Clayton wasn't cranky, we would have stayed throughout the celebration and joined in the trail walk...

      Lanterns in Vietnam
Let it never be said that my DH doesn’t like to shop. Unlike most women, you will never hear me complain about my husband’s unwillingness to go shopping for shoes or for clothing… he is a Singaporean through and through in this respect. [Note: It is said that Singaporeans have two pasttimes - shopping and eating!] Fortunately, these shopping expeditions in foreign countries have us traipsing across many city blocks, and winding through many city alleys, and sometimes when you wander, you see the simplest, and yet the most amazing sights. While I do not have the experiences of Stacy, nor the penchant for snapping impromptu photos like David, however I did find this stall of hanging lanterns, which were made of plastic. I note this because most lanterns in Asia are generally made of paper. The plastic, while a little tacky, gave off a really bright, pleasant light when grouped together, so I took this shot.
