A laid back Saturday in Tagaytay
Five months ago, I lamented that I haven’t been to Tagaytay yet, though it’s only an hour an a half from Manila. Now as we start on the sixth month of 2008, I’m quite proud to say that I’ve already been to Tagaytay three times. First time was the trip with my sister-in-law and nephews [...]

      Dogs Are So Laid Back
I wake up every morning the first thing I do is I do my visualization and my meditation. Then I have started working out, so that I can get a tone body. I started a program called the six week work out. I have been doing it for about two weeks now.Everyday I have a routine, that I like to do and usually it goes the way I like but if it does not for some reason I seem to stress. We all know that stress is not good, and I really do not have anything to stress about. But my old self was a very stressful person and would freak very often when things didn't go the way I planned.I have changed my whole mindset knowing that if you want something done, then you just have to visualize it and meditate on it (of course take some action) and it will come. But it will come when it comes, it doesn't come on your terms. It comes when you have become that person. As I look at my dogs I learn from them they are the most laid back creatures I have seen. They don't expect anything, except maybe an occa

World Beer Festival Provides Laid Back Atmosphere and Some Beer Surprises
The World Beer Festival had another successful run on Saturday in Raleigh. The weather was perfect and sell out crowds got to sample a wide range of great beers in park-like Moore Square. The folks at All About Beer magazine sponsor the event, with Daniel and Julie Bradford playing hosts and festival coordinator Natalie Miller keeping a huge team of volunteers running like a well-oiled machine.I was among the speakers at the event, running a pair of "Weird Beers of the Festival" sessions -- basically a chance to gather some pretty good beers with some odd ingredients together to twist the tongues of festival attendees. I had the chance to sample a number of interesting beers along the way during two four hour sessions. Here is a round up of 10 of the beers from the Weird Beers tasting, and others I came across in the two beer tents and VIP tent:Dogfish Head Immort Ale: This Delaware brewer pitches itself as making "Off-centered ales, for off-centered people." This brew appropriately br

A Little More Laid Back Today
After we took a 2 hour bullet train to Hiroshima, I wasn't sure what to expect out of the National Peace Museum (main reason for visiting the city). The information was amazing since they produced details history books in America don't usually provide. After the museum & standing in awe of the A-Bomb Dome, we took the Shinkansen back to Osaka. Later that night, we decided to go to a sushi bar (sushi goes aroound on a conveyor belt). The employees loved having us there. Our Americanism won each of us a free beer since they loved hearing us say cheers in Japanese (Kampai).Since we had been running on overdrive ever since leaving America, we decided that a laid back day was much needed for today. After leaving the hostel, we visited Osaka castle for a short bit & then visited a couple

      Laid Back challenge
Just finished part of a challenge set up by Daphne at TalkCrafts Forum . She sent all of us three plain tiles to turn into anything we like. I decided to make a pendant and a mini book. I first applied a coat of gesso, then stippled all over with Lumiere Halo Pink Gold acrylic. I stamped an image selectively in Black Stazon using the Kodomo 'Plum' stamp and hand coloured in the plum flowers using a water brush and USArtQuest 'Jewelz' Duo Red-Blue mica paint. I then applied a transfer of a bird with Glossy Accents and sealed all with a thinned down glaze of Glossy Accents (applied by large brush). I strung the pendant with Japanese Mizuhiki cord in emerald and gold, threading a number of pale orange glass seed beads to form a loop at the bottom. Although you can't see it in the pic I have used a screw clasp to secure.Loved doing it, and have nearly completed my mini-book using two tiles.

      Laid Back Challenge (2)
I have completed the mini-book which I have called 'Angels'. I used two tiles, one for the front and one for the back which I first gave two coats of gesso as a base for the paint. I then coated all over with Jacquard Halo Green Gold Lumiere paint using a stippling action. I applied a diamond pattern in black Stazon ink using a diamond heart stamp from the Invoke Arts 'Textured Hearts' plate to front and back surfaces of the book. For the front tile I applied some Calypso Beadazzles with Glossy Accents and also applied four 8mm square Guttermann mirrored beads. The Angel word was stamped using small letters on a green plate and this applied also with Glossy Accents. I edged the sides of both tiles with gold Krylon pen. For the insides I made a concertina fold insert and painted one side with Stewart Gill Alchemy Fusion paint and the other with Aurora (to contrast with the colours in the Beadazzles). I then decorated them with cutouts from the Crafty Individuals miniature tile book
