Soap Nuts natural laundry detergent and cleansers are indeed the beginning of a new age in safe, green, healthy household cleaning solutions. Albeit the powder and liquid forms may be convenient for some, there are significant economic and VERY serious health issues regarding them that the consumer needs to be aware of. NaturOli is bringing these issues to light - and resolving them. As sellers of
Photo by Msmail at Flickr.comGood news! Soon you'll have no more headaches packing your precious creams and shampoos when travelling by plane. Starting Fall 2009 US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will remove size restrictions on personal care products to be carried on the plane. This change will be possible due to introduction of new advanced X-ray equipment which will allow to diffe

With more airports adopting stricter regulations on carrying liquids, it was time to look at the whys and what’s of hand luggage security.Ferrying liquid-based items abroad these days has become a complicated and confusing business. Especially as there have been discrepancies in airport regulations. But most countries prefer to err on the safer rather than sorrier side of precaution these days a

Today, because of the increased security required at most airports, the carrying on board of liquids is significantly reduced. In order to prevent problems whilst boarding you would be well advised to contact the airline well in advance of your intended day of travel to obtain an up to date description of what liquids you [...]
Ewww! Who thought of that title? I guess I did. And I want you to spend the same amount of time, i.e. seconds, thinking about the drinks you're going to serve. You're going to be wrestling a turkey, for heaven's sake, you don't need to worry about complicated potables. The easiest aperitif is a little pomegranate juice in the bottom of a champagne flute. Fill with domestic champagne or prosecco or ginger ale for non-imbibers. Garnish each glass with a frozen raspberry. (It’s a garnish that you don’t have to play with.)Here is a wonderfully EASY punch. 1 part orange juice, 1 part cranberry juice, 1 part something fizzy - seltzer, sprite, ginger ale or the diet equivalent. THEN scoop in a pint of American Orange Sherbet. Not sorbet, not granita - SHERBET. It makes it foamy and really good. (Thanks, L, for that idea.) I like frozen raspberries in that too.Put any individual juices you’re serving in pitchers, and garnish them with frozen raspberries and, if you have the energy, a
Thailand recently joined other major Asian aviation hubs in implementing security measures recommended by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The following restrictions on liquids, aerosols and gels in hand-carried luggage are effective from 1 June 2007, and are applicable for all commercial flights departing from airports in Thailand. CARRY-ON ITEMSLiquids, aerosols, gels (including drinks, creams, perfumes, sprays, gels, toothpaste, lipstick, lip balm and similar substances) in containers of no more than 100 ml each must be placed in a transparent re-sealable 20 cm x 20 cm plastic bag with a capacity not exceeding one litre. Only one sealed bag per person is permitted, and this must be presented separately for security checking. CHECKED-IN LUGGAGE Liquids, aerosols, gels, drinks, creams, perfumes, sprays, toothpaste, lipstick, lip balm and all similar substances in containers exceeding 100 ml must be placed in checked-in luggage. Exceptions Medication, baby food/m
(Nanowerk News) University of California, Riverside nanotechnologists have succeeded in controlling the color of very small particles of iron oxide suspended in water simply by applying an external magnetic field to the solution. The discovery has potential to greatly improve the quality and size of electronic display screens and to enable the manufacture of products such as erasable and rewritable electronic paper and ink that can change color eletromagnetically.
In their experiments, the researchers found that by changing the strength of the magnetic field they were able to change the color of the iron oxide solution – similar to adjusting the color of a television screen image.

When the strength of the magnetic field is changed, it alters the arrangement of the spherical iron oxide particles in solu

The researches inadvertently discovered that they can write and erase on the surface of liquids - the method that could one day be applied to high-density data storage, making templates for etching silicon chips (photolithography) and a variety of other materials applications.
Peter Licence at the University of Nottingham, UK, and his colleagues were using mass spectrometry (MS) as part of their ultra-high-vacuum research on liquids that contain only ions - ionic liquids. The experiment was carried out at -85oC when the ionic liquid of interest - 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium ethylsulfate is in a frozen state. The chemists noticed that the particle beam from the spectrometer created a pattern of charge on the surface of a frozen ionic liquid. When ionic liquids solidify they loose their conductivity and become insulators, but when the ion beam bombards the solid sample surface it knocks electrons from the material, leaving positively charged lines that frozen liquid cannot dissipate.
Despite the combined efforts of Jesus (See: Jesus's Match.com Profile) and our beloved president, the terror alert level has once again been raised to orange. About two dozen terrorists, with alleged ties to al-Qaeda, were stopped in Heathrow carrying enough gatorade to bring down a Boeing 747! Now the Department of Homeland Security has issued a list of items not allowed in airline carry-on:All sports drinks and containers with liquids (with the exception of baby bottles and lactating women)Hairsprays, hair gels and flammable hair extensionsElectric toothbrushes and other battery operated vibrating instruments (sorry ladies, but you have to leave the rabbit at home)Toiletry items including toothpaste, mouthwash, concentrated hydrochloric acid and French percussion grenades. NO LIQUIDS ALLOWEDHere is a quote from a reader of the Vancouver 24 Hours Newspaper under the column "What's On Your Mind?". Thought it was funny yet scary at the same time due to the issue of how far suicide bombers will go to harming others.Quote: "Now if no liquids are allowed on flights, what about breast implants? Better still, how would they enforce that restriction? Keene Alexander via email
