Looks can be deceiving, and at first glance you might assume these cats don’t have it, but let the joint play before you make your assessments. Based out of Los Angeles, the soul/funk duo Chester French were signed to Star Trak/Interscope records in the Spring of 2007 by Pharrell Williams himself. ‘Fall Back’ also isn’t [...]
I find it amusing that during times of strive, and blatant injustices such as the Sean Bell verdict, BET allows the “consciousness” rappers to speak and bring forth their assessments. But as soon as the case becomes yesteryears news in a few months, its back to makin’ it rain on these hoes. Regardless Nas, Talib [...]

Here arrives Talib Kweli debuting his fourth single Hostile Gospel Pt. 1 of off his album “Eardrum” which is in stores now. First and most definitely foremost you have to respect the brutha for taking it back to the motherland. But he wasn’t playing that touristy weak sauce that Ludacriss played out in the past. [...]

I'm about 20 hours late on this, but just in case you didn't see the five million sites that probably posted this yesterday when it dropped, here is the Mick Boogie/Talib Kweli mixtape, MCEO. I have not listened to it yet (I was in an old school mood last night), but it contains original tracks from Kweli and his Blacksmith label.
Also, a little "Making Of...." video to go along with it
If you thought Mick was done after the acclaimed release of “Busta Rhymes + J Dilla = Dillagence” think again. This new mixtape (or as Mick Boogie puts it, a mini album) features brand spanking new, exclusive Talib Kweli songs in plentiful, not to mention ample appearances from the Blacksmith Movement. Mick also mentions that [...]
Back up in this bitch for the evening session of HHR. Yo, got to say HBO on Demand is definitely the shit mane. Well after thorough scrutiny of “Hi-Teknology 3“, (in stores 12/11/07) I have firmly asserted that “Hi-Teknology” > “Hi-Teknology 2” > “Hi-Teknology 3“, yes folks his solo projects have progressively worsened, not a good look. Don’t get it twisted though, I still have much faith in the brotha, because after listing to this instant classic, its evident that Tek still has it.
My biggest issue with his most recent work (which has to do with Tek’s creative inclinations), is his attempt to create some sort of juxtaposition, (similar to my coined phrase “NerdwithSwag”) in his choice of featured artists, just think substance vs. senselessness. On one hand you have this absolutely banger from Tek, Kwa’ & Dion (who has next), with meaning and a message, that’ll evoke in any fan of real Hip-Hop a serious yearning for a “Reflection Eternal” part deux. Then on the other hand you have tracks such
This brotha Kwa’ cannot do any wrong this year, the remix to his single ‘Hot Thing’ features the legend Luther (not the little Luther…) Jean Grae and Neo. “EarDrum” is in stores now… Oh yea, you gotta love that reference to The Floaters in the beginning of the joint too…

This would be the remix to N.O.R.E’s official single ‘Set it off’ which is produced by and featuring Swizz Beatz, but it doesn’t take a brain surgeon to come to that conclusion. Seriously, Swizz Beats needs to reinvent himself once again, becuase his productions are becoming more and more monotonous and un-diligent it appears. But other then that the song is aight, everyone comes so so on this joint, nothing spectacular here… N.O.R.E.’s “Noreality” is in stores now.

New music from DJ Statik Selektah, featuring Term, Talib and Con and while ‘Epress yourself’ seems like one of those nostalgic oldie by goodies tracks that should never be remixed, you might just change you opinion after hearing the track. I sincerely believe these brotha’s authentic and common love for music is why this remix didn’t fail…

Talib Kweli held another album release party for Eardrum last night at Lotus in NYC. Diddy, Danity Kane, Michael Bivins, and the MTB4 boys were all in attendance. Too bad Diddy and his crew took all the spotlight. I heard Michael Bivins will be managing the new MTB4 boys...that's a good look for him but I don't know about the boys. RCheck out Aubrey pretending to get her diva on...meantime YBF reports D.Woods & Yung Joc are the new hot couple. The pair was spotted getting real cozy and enjoying each other's company they took their party elsewhere...hmmm. Diddy, Beyonce, Tina Knowles and Uncle Russ attended the Magic Convention in Vegas.Somebody please feed Rich Boy some sandwiches. Janet Jackson was spotted at the US Open yesterday looking extra thin...you never know with Janet. One minute it's chubby Penny the next she's skinny Penny. Either she's still got it!
Clinton Sparks had to use his signature motto when titling his latest free.99 mixtape featuring Kwa’. This mixtape features ‘The level ft. Although it rips off those cool ass HP computer ads, still pretty dope!! Also, why does Kweli constantly go with the psuedo-love & party songs? It hasn't worked (check the sales numbers), so why not go back to what you do best - being a lyrical creature!! But whatever, still diggin' this track......
First we had the brotha Com, and next up is Talib on AOL’s 16 bars. Considering its Talib spittin’ and if you know what the brotha is capable of, I’d say its a luke warm 16… Watch it after the jump. (more…)

In lieu of UGK dropping their album Underground Kingz on August 7th, 2007, I’m posting up another track from their album. Go cop their album, matter fact, go buy one for your crib, one for your ride, one for your work, and one to keep wrapped up ya digg?
UGK spitin’ over a soulful beat with my favorite MC, thats what im talking about. UGK takes the beat from Raheem’s ‘Guess who loves you more‘ for this track and with the help of Talib Kweli speak on a rare commodity that you don’t come across that often in America. The non-groupies, the non-gold diggers, the uplifting women, the down ass chicks and queens alike. ‘Real Woman’ is a confirmed track off of UGK’s upcoming and self titled album “Underground Kingz” in stores August 7th…
P.S. And in other UGK news, Pimp C withdrawls his previous statements regarding Atlanta’s “southerness” on his myspace blog, and if you want to preview the entire “Underground Kingz” album, head over to MTV.com.

From the stay tuned for some great show coming up department... Talib Kweli @ Emo's on August 8th! And at the show, DJ Chaps... it'll be a night to remember... tix are $10... get them here.So Friday at work we had "bring your kids to work" day... it was fun seeing everyone's procreations... life is so wierd... so i started having this discussion with a few people... if you think about it... if we, as in humans, do nothing else in life our main purpose is to procreate... to pass on our genes... don'tcha think?More info:Talib Kweli (born Talib Kweli Greene in Brooklyn, New York City on October 3, 1975) is an American MC from Brooklyn, New York. He is one of the best-known rappers in alternative hip hop, and is frequently critically acclaimed, despite not having seen significant commercial success. His name in Arabic means "student", his last name in Swahili means "true". Talib and fellow rapper artist Mos Def purchased Nkiru, which is Brooklyn's oldest black-owned bookstore, and con
Dr. West drops some knowlege with the help of Talib on this track which is off of Cornell West’s upcoming album,“Never Forget: A Journey of Revelations” .Considering the man is a 54 year old professor at Princeton you really can’t knock the track nor his intentions when it comes to this song, his agenda is where it should be, and the content is on point, these brothars are telling it how it is, how it should be told… Judging by the collaborations throughout the album, it does seem like it’ll be a pretty solid piece of work, I know I’am goning to check it out.
Here is the tracklisting for “Never Forget: A Journey of Revelations” out August 14th on Hidden Beach Recordings..
Track listing:
1) “Bushonomics,” featuring Talib Kweli
2) “America,” featuring Black Thought, Rah Digga, Iriz & Lucky Witherspoon

The third single to Talib’s upcoming album “EarDrum”, produced by Will.I.am, and its a banger, definitely a funky track just in time for summer. The brotha should of dropped this as his first single and not even released that joint ‘Listen‘ (but I’m sure apple chipped him off for that.) “Eardrum” drops July 24, 2007…
Trivia Question: What song did Talib’s partner in crime Mos Def drop a few years back that used the exact same sample in this track? (whoever gets this knows their hip-hop and has a good ear…)

“Success is truly longevity… Honesty is what really sells music…”
Hot 97’s Peter Rosenburg sat down with Talib Kweli and chopped it up about DJing (apparently the brotha Talib is multifaceted) and his upcoming album “EarDrum” dropping July 24, 2007 (next monday). Talib says “EarDrum” features, jean grey, kanye, nora jones, not to mention UGK. Also Peter asks Talib how does he feel about Jigga’s verse in ‘Moment of Clarity‘ (”if skills sold, truth be told lyrically I’d Be Talib Kweli”). Unfortunately the brotha Talib beats around the bush and never really answers the question, it seems like hes afraid of something if you as me. We know what Talib really wanted to say though, “Yea Jigga was a sell out for that…”.
