Knight Rider Driving Its Way Back to NBC…and My Heart
I grew up watching Michael Knight and KITT fight the bad guys. But it was a much simpler time in those days when the heroes and good guys were obvious and the bad guys were even more obvious. It seems like that’s changed over the years as the line between “good and evil” has blurred. That’s why [...]

First NBC is creating the American version of Top Gear and now the remake of Knight Rider?
Wait a minute, right now I am having a hard time trying to imagine just what the American version of Top Gear is going to look like, I mean I am a huge fan of the UK Top Gear that is airs weekly on BBC America, the show has three hosts and it works, but its more comedy than anything else. These three guys are not afraid to tell you what they really think of the vehicles they are test driving and that would including test driving the Chevrolet Corvette that in their minds is a good track car, but not a daily driver and the Shelby GT500 which didn’t impress them much because of the Suspension, it just wasn’t there. In the end they pointed out that the Roush Mustang that Jeremy Clarkson test drove, he would rather purchase that as it was better overall. The point is, NBC isn’t going to

      NBC greenlights Knight Rider
The Knight Rider TV movie was not good. The updated, Shelby Mustang-based KITT looked undeniably cool (when not in Ugly... er... Attack Mode, at least), but the acting was wooden and the writing was a horror show. Still, the ending completely set up a potential ongoing story.Today comes word that the ratings were apparently good enough for the suits to give a thumbs-up for a new weekly series starting this Fall. Early reports suggest a Friday night timeslot is in the works, but that's subject to change; all will be known on Wednesday when NBC presents its early upfronts. We'll assume that at the very least, stars Justin Breuning (Mike Traceur) and Deanna Russo (Mike Traceur's Girlfriend) will return to fill our flatscreens with emotionless line reading. And since voicing KITT should be a re

      Knight Rider (2008)
They filmed the movie, and got Will Arnett to do the voice of KITT, now a black 550 hp Ford Shelby GT500KR Mustang.Ford is so gung-ho, they want ads up the wazoo relating Knight Rider and Ford vehicles. So cool, right? Anybody voicing KITT will probably get a piece of that. But guess what? Will Arnett has been voicing commercials for GMC Trucks for years! And GMC was none to thrilled to hear that their voice was crossing over to the dark side. So he's all, "Bail?" And they're all like, "Bail."Enter Val Kilmer, the new voice of KITT. I've read that the crew is now rushing to get his dialogue done. I guess they're a bit behind. Two weeks left to broadcast! I like Will Arnett. But I think Val Kilmer is great. It will be neat hearing him in a new film.

      Justin Bruening / Knight Rider
I can remember Knight Rider from when I was a kid, it was a great program, so lets hope the new series will be good.  Its got Justin in it, so it won't be too bad, even if its just for the eye candy.   "All My Children" hunk Justin Bruening is set as the lead in NBC's two-hour backdoor pilot "Knight Rider," a "Transformers"-inspired sequel to the 1980s series, which is slated to air as a movie later in the season. Bruening will play the son of Michael Knight, the character played by David Hasselhoff in the original series. And like father, like son, the choice of Bruening closely resembles Hasselhoff's casting a quarter-century ago. Like Bruening, Hasselhoff was a soap star ("The Young & the Restless") with few other credits when he landed "Knight Rider." He was almost the same age as Bruening, who is 28. Bruening also follows in the footsteps of fellow "Children" alum Josh Duhamel, who ma

      Knight Rider returns
"I don't know what you're talking about Michael, I was always a Ford..."NBC have confirmed details of a new Knight Rider series, which will kick off with a feature-length episode next February. The latest incarnation of KITT will be a suitably menacing Ford Mustang GT500, while 'the Hoff' will return in the role of an older Micheal Knight, though the main character will be his 'long-lost son.'Hard to say at this stage just how good of a TV show it will be, but the producers would do well to follow in the footsteps of Stephen Spielberg and Micheal Bay's Transformers, which was all the better for not taking itself too seriously.

Knight Rider is back in February: KITT to be played by Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR
NBC have finally announced that the cult 80's show Knight Rider will return to our screens for a new series. The show will return in February 17th 2008, there are to be a number of changes to the show but the two major ones is that David Hasselhoff will play an old Michael Knight but the big news is that KITT will be played by a Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR instead of the old Firebird, the voice to KITT will be played by Will Arnett. According to Auto Blog the new series of KITT will have three different cars that they will use for different scenes in the show, the first is a 540-hp standard version which is used for all the normal scenes, then there will be a high-speed version which has body amour for the KITT Attack mode, and finally we have the Remote version of KITT. The cool thing with the new KITT is that nanotechnology allows the car to change both its shape and color. Written by Peter for Product ReviewsIn Sections: Autos, TV Shows, News

Knight Rider will return to TV on February 17 at 9 p.m. ET. I never missed an episode of the original series and even watched Knight Rider 2000 and Team Knight Rider. I am very excited for this updated mini movie and possible series. The concept is being updated but there will still be an intelligent car and a rugged young man behind the wheel. Looks like Ford is a sponsor as KITT is updated to be a Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR (KR for Knight Rider). It looks bad ass too. The car will be able to shape shift and change colors because of nanotechnology. It will be great.Basically the story is about Mike Tracer, the son of Michael Knight. The Hoff will appear in the mini movie too! William Daniels is not going to be the voice of KITT but instead Will Arnet of Arrested Development will provide the voice for the super smart car.TV Squad has photos of the new cast and the car.Join the Blog Rush.

"No Micheal, I'm not doing it for the money..."Hurrah! My favourite 1980s TV show, Knight Rider, is set to make a return to the small screen, according to Variety magazine. Movie director Doug Liman is said to be working on a two-hour pilot, which, if successful, will lead to a full series in 2008-09. It seems unlikely that the Hoff will be involved at all, with far more interest likely to centre around what model of car will be the basis for the new KITT.

NBC is feeling the heat of only having Heroes to draw viewers all damn week so they’re bringing back the David Hasselhoff early 80s powerhouse Knight Rider. From Variety: NBC is bringing back “Knight Rider,” tapping Doug Liman to produce a “Transformers”-inspired reworking of the 1980s hit action-drama series about a man and his indestructible supercar. Peacock is readying a two-hour backdoor pilot for the project, with tentative plans to air it as a telepic later this season. Liman is open to the idea of directing, assuming his feature sked allows. If the telepic clicks, a new-model “Knight Rider” could be on the air as early as next fall. I recently discovered that a local consignment car company has in their show room a genuine K.I.T.T. from the Knight Rider television series. I loved Knight Rider as a kid. It was a border line obsession. But what is funny to me now is that I realize David Hasselhoff is a terrible actor and a 1982 Pontiac Trans Am is a pretty terrible car. None the less Knight Rider amazed and entertained me with a talking car that was jam-packed with gadgets it was really hard not to like the show. And now I have my chance to own the genuine artifact of my childhood affection. So what does a black 1982 Pontiac Trans Am in full K.I.T.T. regalia go for? According to Kassabian Motors it should fetch in the neighborhood of $150,000. I have to believe that if it sells for that price it might be the most expensive ‘82 Pontiac ever sold. For that matter it might be the most expensive ‘82 anything ever sold. Here is Kassabian’s description of the car: **Own a piece of Television history!**

One topic that TTAC has steered clear of is the constant liveblogging of announcements about Knight Rider. I realize that retro-1980s stuff is cool for some people, and Knight Rider is nominally about a car with gadgets. But seriously, who cares? It's not previewing some heretofore unseen production model, and it's got all the same boring action as modern action films with fake car-chase scenes so over the top they're just mundane. How many times can we watch a car leap off a bridge, enter orbit, fix a satellite, re-enter the atmosphere, stop at Taco Bell and then land on a Persian rug? The Knight Rider debut had 13 million viewers, which is comparatively pretty high for fiction shows (but a fraction of what American Idol gets), but much like initial car interest, new TV shows
