I personally can not decide which one to get so i’m gonna save up for both, they both look very good, to me on different levels but as these are the two most tracked Shooters for playstation 3 that will be 100% exclusive, this a good question to be ask. Will you give in and pay $59.99 for Haze next month OR will you wait 4 months and play for Killzone 2?

The authors from the Official PlayStation magazine have been in England recently giving Killzone 2 a run for it’s money.
When I finally put the pad down it’s with relief, excitement…and caution. What’s currently most impressive about Killzone 2 is the technology, which is genuinely a notch ahead of anything being done on consoles right now.
Now obviously we cannot expect the official magazine to be unbiased but that is quite some claim. So far Killzone 2 has consistently wowed everyone who has experienced it and if it truly does live up to its growing reputation it is a sure fire system seller.
The complaints so far have been worries about bad AI, however these have been brushed off as purely due to the game being demonstrated on a very easy AI level.

Guerilla Games showed off Killzone 2 A.I. gameplay in a PlayStation 3 demo at the Leipzig Games Convention 2007 a few days ago. In the demo a developer extensively talks about making the Killzone world more realistic and detailed.
When Killzone 2 lead visual artist Roy Postma was asked about how the PS3 technology has helped them achieve this realism, he answered: “There are a lot of things that have changed and improved, but the part that affected us the most is the sheer amount of detail that’s possible now. This has had a tremendous impact on designing and building the game world–not just time-wise, but also in terms of creativity and technical engineering. In the High Definition era, there’s no hiding behind low resolutions or simplified 3D models. Not only do we have to create the best-looking designs we can, we have to make sure they work realistically as well.”

The BBC recently screened a fairly brief developer walkthrough for Killzone 2 the speculated “killer” game title for the PS3. In the video they showcase the graphics and the thought processes during the creation of the game. Theres also a bit of commentary about “making the best first person shooter”. After watching I can’t help but feel throughly unimpressed, KZ2 seems on the same level as gears of war for the most part, and this is supposed to be “The best FPS”? A long, explosive new Killzone 2 video has finally been released from E3 2007, and unlike the one from the actual Sony Press Conference, this video goes on longer all the way until the end of the demo! Killzone is definitely looking like a winner. Although I’m not quite sure if I’m ready to call it a Halo 3-killer just yet. It doesn’t look like it has any real unique game mechanics.

The new Killzone was simply a tour-de-force of graphical quality, and it really showed off what the new systems (in this case the Playstation 3) would be capable of.
Turned out later on that the initial trailer, which was suspicious in the first place, was not actually the PS3 hardware itself, but rather a CG rendered trailer that was acting as a “target” for what the development team WANTED their new Killzone 2 to look like. It was NOT actual in-game footage, despite Sony’s increasing insistence that it was. (Do you all remember the sony employee who got fire for speaking their mind ?)
And now, for very real proof, we have a direct trailer-to-trailer comparison of the new, in-game PS3 trailer shown at E3 2007 with the E3 2006 rendered PS3 trailer. The difference is clear when put side-by-side.

Guerrilla, dopo il primo video presentato al E3 2005, adesso, al E3 2007, diffonde un nuovo trailer di Killzone 2 che non presenta piú immagini prerenderizzate ma offre esattamente la stessa grafica e risoluzione che caratterizzará il gioco stesso.
Questo video ci presenta i le forze contro le truppe del pianeta Helgast, obiettivo di conquista. Non sono ancora chiare le modalitá e i dettagli del gioco, nonché i personaggi che é possibile interpretare oltre al giá noto veterano Sev.
Per adesso godetevi il trailer di Killzone 2, altri aggiornamenti arriveranno prima possibile…

Han pasado más de dos años desde la beta-demo-engaño de Killzone 2 que hizo que los hombres de poca fe como nosotros volvieramos a creer en esa esperanza de que los videojuegos, algún día, sería como la vida misma. Dos años después, unas pocas horas antes de que se levante la veda de ese gran espectáculo llamado E3, tenemos ante nosotros la primera prueba de que toda la expectación creada era infundada… de momento. Guerrilla Games tiene pensado hacer una presentación oficial justo después de la conferencia de Microsoft. Pero el diario USA Today se ha adelantado al resto de medios mostrando la primera imagen del título fuerte de Sony de cara a las navidades: Killzone 2. Juzgad vosotros mismos, sin alzar mucho la voz, porque en unas horas lo veremos en movimiento. Hasta entonces prometo que no me meteré con él.

I’m sure everyone remembers the Killzone fiasco where Sony tried to pass of a CG trailer as in-game graphics. They took a lot of heat for that.
But this year, a Killzone dev says that what they’ll show this year of the game will hopefully shut up even the most ardent critics.
This is the direct quote from Test Lead and QA Manager Sebastian Downie: “I am sure there are a hundred developers around the globe feeling the same way right now though. Everyone wants their game to play look and sound perfectly when the public first get to see it. If you are working on an AAA Next Gen beast of a game or something for mobile phones you want to make a good impression on people. And if you have the baggage that we have we have to give it that extra little bit. Hopefully it will all go brilliantly and we’ll shut up even some of the most ardent critics.”
