Hello! My name is Kiley and I own a small business named "Cherry Blossoms". My business consists of hair accessories for infants and children.I established Cherry Blossoms in 2006 when my baby girl was born. I sought high quality unique hair accessories that were both beautiful, functional, and affordable, with no success.I began fabricating my own designs with distribution amongst friends and fami
Fingerprints EP ain't new, however i got reasons to post these acustic live tracks. First, my cat jumped out of window, and had a tough fight with street cats today. Luckily, I heard his screams "Miaawoo mia!" (Help Me!), then I jumped to help him. Finally Louie was saved and he's sleeping on my...

I decided to write my review of Under the Blacklight - the highly recommended new release from Los Angeles' Rilo Kiley in narrative form. Rilo Kiley plays a sold out show at the Avalon here in Boston tonight. I was driving home from work listening to Rilo Kiley's new record and it finally became clear "Under the Blacklight" is one of the finest releases of 2007. Rilo Kiley in 2007 - Better than EverJenny Lewis has only improved - perhaps "sharpened" is a better adjective, due to her sojourn with the Watson Twins on last year's "Rabbit Fur Coat" album. Due to that experience and perhaps tearing away -if only temporarily, from her Rilo Kiley creative partner Blake Sennett - Lewis had some more room to grow and improve. Both Lewis and Rilo Kiley are better for that briefest of deviations. The fans are the real winners. There always is some resistance to change and I anticipate that the new album may actually be rejected by some longterm fans. All I can say is that change is good!Rilo K
Day 2 and Friday night kicked off in exactly the laid-back-kind-of way I liked it too. Eskimo & Sons played the opening set at the Towne Lounge offering up their multi-layered compositions that seem to totter on the edge of collapse. The saving grace, as always, is the inter-play between vocalists Dhani and Danielle which truly is the icing on the cake. Ths is how rock music ought to be. Watch the video here. [The Towne Lounge apparently has no lighting so things are grainy but worth it just to listen.]
Although I’m very familiar with Jenny Lewis [does that sound wrong?] as I’ve spent plenty of time with her last solo album where she paired up with the Watson Twins, I have to confess to not having heard Rilo Kiley [clearly I’ve moved further away from alt rock than I thought.] after tonight’s set I can see why. Without the magnetic personality of Jenny Lewis this band would be nowhere; rather plodding, pedestrian songs ably performed sure, but again, take
In an interview with Incendiary magazine in 2006, Rilo Kiley's frontwoman Jenny Lewis spoke about "selling out":"I try not to covet the music that I love, I’ve done that in the past, where something becomes popular and then suddenly I don’t want to go to the shows anymore. I think selling out is a lewd point when the music stays the same. So if the music is pure, then why not offer it out to the people and give them something better than, you know, Fall Out Boy or other crap that’s on the radio."Rilo Kiley's new album, Under The Blacklight, puts Jenny's answer to the test. Having moved to a big label, the new CD is unabashedly poppy and commercial. I love Rilo Kiley, I thought the previous album, More Adventurous, was a work of beauty. And now there was this '80s referencing Jenny-as-Debby-Harry gig, one on which only two tracks sound like traditional Rilo Kiley. In my review of the album, I asked: "Can there be an accommodation with old and new fans? Will the old fanbase buy
Three pretty fantastic videos for you guys today:************************************First up comes Feist performing "1234" on Letterman. If it was just Feist up there, it would be a pretty decent performance. What makes it pretty freakin' awesome though is the indie all-star team she has performing back-up vocals. Accompanying Leslie on stage are folks from Broken Social Scene, The National, Grizzly Bear, The New Pornographers, Mates Of State, And Nicole Atkins. Just fantastic.*************************************Video the second: the video for the newest Rilo Kiley single "Silver Lining". It's actually kinda creepy, Jenny Lewis still manages to look ridiculously cute. Still not sure if I like the new record, but this song is pretty alright, I guess.**************************************The last, but certainly not least, video is of Okkervil River performing their great track "Our Life is Not a Movie or Maybe" on Conan. Of special note: how much does Conan love Okkervil River? A ton
Admittedly, I'm not a huge fan of the new Rilo Kiley album Under the Blacklight. However, I do believe in giving things a fair chance, and the album is starting to grow on me (slowly), and Jenny Lewis is just so darn cute, so, here it is.You can stream it for free and in its entirety from here. Thanks to whokilledthemixtape and donewaiting for the collective heads-up.donewaiting does a remarkable job of enumerating the reasons why I'm not completey enamoured with the new album, in case you're interested.EDIT: It's now been taken down, but you can still hear "Moneymaker" and "Silver Lining" via their Myspace.

Are they alternative-country rockers or alternative rock crooners? That was the conundrum following Rilo Kiley’s 2002 release, The Execution of Things, and with More Adventurous, the band’s first record with major label support, we have our answer. Jolted by the divinely pure vocals of Jenny Lewis and Blake Sennett's howling guitar on prospective indie anthems like "Portions for Foxes," the Los Angeles foursome has two fists through the earth in their quest to depart the underground. It's obvious from the opening smack-talk sing-a-long "It's a Hit" that Lewis is the centerpiece of this 11-song pop consignment (leaving the capable Sennett to sing only the acoustic low-fi "Ripchord"), and the unabashed charisma that is her trademark infiltrates throughout—from rockers ("Love and War") to ballads ("Absence of God") to pop ("Accidntel Deth") to Dusty Springfield soul ("I Never"). And while the production is polished to radio-friendly, it fails to dull the charming accessibility of
This might be the best record since 'Figure 8' by Elliott Smith, and is definitely the first time in a long time that I felt like I was listening to a band trying to tell me something that mattered. I've gotten a few of their other recordings (Jenny's solo, too) but I'm almost afraid to listen to anything else by them, I want to always love them as much as I do right now, un-jaded and awestruck.
