      Kenyan Monkeys Love The Ladies
Further proof Darwin was right: Kenyan officials are not sure how to handle a troop of rude monkeys that's been making lewd gestures at women, London's Daily Telegraph reports. "Can the [tourism] minister deploy game rangers … to deal with the monkey menace?" pleaded local representative Paul Muite in Kenya's national parliament last month, to accompanying laughter. "These creatures have clearly shown that they have no respect for women."  Gichuki Kabukuru of the Kenya Wildlife Service told the Telegraph that monkeys and baboons commonly harass women, gesturing at them and touching their own private parts. "Even in our camps," he explained, "when men are out on patrol and the monkeys see women and children, they will become very naughty and make lewd signs at them." Bookmark to:

Kenyan Catholics cut ties with pro-abortion groups
Another example of the endless amount of harm done by the Catholic Church, this time from Kenya: In a Press statement issued by Catholic Bishops of Kenya at the Kenya Institute of Education, the church said it would have nothing in common with any lobby group associated with pro-abortion activities. "If a thief is stealing and you stand far watching, does that position absolve you from the sin of stealing?" asked Archbishop John Njue, the Kenya Episcopal Conference chairman. He said the church supported the stand by the Vatican calling for a boycott of Amnesty International operations because of its pro-abortion activities. "Abortion, whether legal or not kills babies; damages women, harms families, degrades the medical profession, weakens nations and destroys churches. That is why the common sense of history has always condemned it," the prelate said. Kaiser honored by Kenyan government
By Brandon Stahl Published March 1, 2006Fergus Falls Daily Journal An Underwood native was given a lifetime achievement award by a Kenyan rights group for his work in the African country - work that, ironically, may have led to his death at the hands of the Kenyan government.Father John Anthony Kaiser, a member of the St. Cloud Diocese who spent 36 years as a missionary to Kenya, was found dead in August 2004 from a shotgun wound. The FBI and the Kenyan Criminal Investigation Division ruled Kaiser's death a suicide, but his family has long believed that he was murdered for speaking out against what he believed was then a corrupt and cruel Kenyan government.During his time in Kenya, Kaiser was instrumental in helpin

      Kaiser receives Kenyan honor
By Frank LeePublished February 27. 2006St. Cloud TimesThe Rev. John Kaiser recently received Kenya's highest human rights honor from the very same government he fought against — and some say died at the hands of."It's ironic that he did receive this award from a government-sanctioned body," said his niece, Mary Weaver of Fergus Falls.Kaiser, a member of the Diocese of St. Cloud, was found dead five years ago along a busy highway between Naivasha and Nairobi with a gunshot wound to the head. The 67-year-old's death was ruled a suicide by the FBI and the Kenyan Criminal Investigation Division, but there is an ongoing judicial inquiry in Nairobi into his death. The Perham native was an outspoken critic of the ethnic cleansing and distribution of land in the East African country under the regime of former President Daniel arap Moi."Many people told John to cool it. He knew that his life was in jeopardy," said the Rev. William Vos, former director of the St. Cloud Mission Office of the D

Kenyan Runner Breaks World Record in Dubai
Kenyan runner Sammy Wanjiru has broken the world record in the half marathon at a race in the United Arab Emirates. Wanjiru won the Ras Al-Khaimah International Half Marathon over a strong field in Dubai in a time of 58 minutes and 53 seconds, beating the old mark by two seconds. The 20-year-old thus reclaims the record from Ethiopian Haile Gebrselassie. When he was officially considered a junior, Wanjiru set the half marathon mark of 59 minutes and 16 seconds in early 2005 in Rotterdam. In Friday's race, Wanjiru ran against world champion Fabiano Joseph of Tanzania and Robert Cheruiyot, winner of the 2006 Boston and Chicago Marathons, plus a host of other top African runners. Kenyan Patrick Makau was second, 20 seconds back. Another 30 seconds back in third place was Ethiopian Deriba Merga. The women's half marathon winner was Ethiopian Berhane Adere in 70 minutes and 58 seconds. She finished four seconds ahead of compatriot Teyiba Erkesse, who was four seconds ahead of another Eth

Kenyan Tourism Tip #1: Bring Spare Tires, and Spare Cash
(Written Tuesday, February 13, 2007) It seems that I may have brought some of the bad ju-ju from Muhuru Bay back to Kiminini with me. My flight to safety can be described only as hellacious. My trip got off to a good enough start. I caught the bus from Muhuru Bay a little after 7 a.m. Monday. My escort was already on the bus, and I was able to link up with him easily enough. Soon, though, the games began. And in Africa every game ends with someone handing over a big wad of cash. Although it is difficult to tell, Kenya does have transportation laws. These laws restrict vehicle speed, passenger numbers, etc. I have yet to run across a public transportation employee who abides by these rules. The bus from Muhuru Bay can seat approximately 60 people. At one point, the bus driver had an extra 25 people standing in the aisle. Highly illegal behavior. So, as we rolled out on to the main road to Kisumu, the bus driver began to restrict the number of extra people he accepted. From Migori to
