Before tonight's game, manager Joe Girardi said "there's no situation we've talked (about) as of right now" that would keep the Yankees from starting Igawa again Wednesday at Tampa Bay. But that was before tonight's awful performance. Baseball rules require an optioned player, such as Kennedy, to spend 10 days in the minors before returning (unless he replaces a player put on the disabled list). If you watched Ian Kennedy in his start the other day vs the Indians you were probably not very comfortable watching; I know I wasn't. I couldn't quite figure out why I was so squirmy, so I went to MLB.com and looked through his pitch-by-pitch - what I found was quite amazing and additional reason for optimism.What made the start feel uncomfortable was the fact that Ian could not throw any of his secondary pitches for a called strike. Spent most of the day, yesterday at Kennedy Space Center. It was the space program in the 1960’s and early 70’s that got me interested in math and science in the first place (okay, the original Star Trek series had some influence as well). If you ever have the opportunity to visit, it’s well worth the $$$. Unfortunately, due to the latest schedule update, it looks like I’m going to miss the STS-122 launch today.

Major League pitcher Joe Kennedy died at his in laws home in Tampa, FL on friday. After going to bed early he woke up at 1:15 am and collapsed. He was immediately rushed to Brandon Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
