Fog disrupts life in Kashmir Valley
Srinagar, Dec .20: Kashmir is reeling under a Cold Wave as temperatures dipped several degrees below normal in the valley.A thick mantle of fog covered the city on Wednesday morning, severely affecting movement of traffic, as visibility was reduced to barely a few meters.Weather officials said the fog is a sequel to western disturbances."The fog phenomenon according to our climatology comes about whenever the western disturbance passes through the hills or plains, following which three four days later, the fog sets in. This is natural because as soon as western disturbance passes through an area, the temperature dips several degrees below normal and frost sets on the ground. So, when the next day sun rises and temperature rises, we get to see shallow fog," said L.C. Rao, Director of the Meteorological Department.
