Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Sums Up Beijing Boycott Best!
In Monday’s LA Times, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar wrote a must-read piece about the history of Olympic boycotting comparing the 1968 Olympics to today’s boycott talks of the 2008 Beijing Olympics some 40 years later.Kareem says best what PreraceJitters.com has been trying to express for months now on this website. The games are in Beijing at this point, and it is best to engage China rather than isolate them. The United States should use this opportunity to build a bridge to improve life for Chinese citizens and the lives of those whom Chinese policies affect. The Basketball Hall of Fame member best writes about the struggle of African Americans at the time of 1968 Olympics in Mexico City—which coincided with the height of the Vietnam War. Jets Claim DE Kareem Brown Off Waivers
According to Mike Reiss of the Boston Globe, the New York Jets have claimed DE Kareem Brown off waivers from the Patriots. The report states that the Ravens and 49ers also had placed a claim on Brown, but the Jets won the claim due to their worst record amongst the three teams. Brown was a fourth-round draft choice by the Patriots this past April. He has not played in a game this season and was expected to be signed to the Patriots practice squad if he cleared waivers. Here is his scouting report via Frank Coyle of DraftInsiders.com. The good: Brown is a strong, wide-bodied tackle with good size, mobility and power that translates well to the playing field. He has good initial quickness that allows him to penetrate the backfield and fill the holes against the run. He has very large, long arms and is a solid physical specimen. He is a well-built lineman with natural skills to rank him among the upper echelon of prospects. The bad: He has been inconsistent on the field. Early in his care

‘Insulting’ blog lands Egyptian in jail Last Updated: Thursday, February 22, 2007 | 12:10 PM ET CBC News An Egyptian court sentenced a blogger to four years in prison on Thursday for writing online entries that insulted Islam and the president. It was Egypt’s first prosecution of a blogger. In a brief, five-minute session in the Mediterranean city of Alexandria, a judge handed down the verdict to convict 22-year-old Abdel Karrem Nabil on charges of “insulting Islam” and inciting sedition, as well as the charge of insulting President Hosni Mubarak. Prosecutors accused Nabil of criticizing his former university, an Islamic institution. They noted Nabil had called the Al-Azhar University “the university of terrorism” on his blog, condemning it for suppressing free thought. As the verdict was read Thursday, Nabil, wearing a grey T-shirt, gave no reaction from the defendant’s pen. Guards immediately escorted him to a prison truck an

Free Kareem - the blogger sentenced to prison - the video
Egyptian Government: A freedom and peaceful march song against President Mubarak's totalitarian regime, against police brutality in Egypt, against corruption and a whole bunch of sweet details that are hardly speakable. This song is also a tribute to Ayman Nour, imprisoned for being an opposition candidate and to 'Kareem', a blogger sentenced on Friday 23rd of February 2007, to 4 years... including 1 year for criticizing President Mubarak. I'm sorry but there's something more important that came to my view now, more important than my personal problems.First I'm sorry that I'm a Middle Eastern, this is the first time I say it but now I'm sure of it.When I was surfing a bit on the web, I stumbled on a strange title: "A blogger has been sentenced to three years for 'insulting' Islam and one year for 'insulting' President Mubarak".Oh my god, not long ago, we heard people here in Lebanon swearing and cursing the Christ and the Cross, everyday we see people burning the star of David in Egypt, isn't Judaism a respected religion in Egypt.I don't blame Islam, I blame Muslims, fanatics and stupids.Do you call this respect: "Al Azhar allow enrolment of Coptic students under the condition that they memorise the Qur’an", this is stupid, shallow and lame propaganda, do you think the "Holy Qur'an" needs propaganda? What do you think the lowest level of human beings would say? let me give you a hint: "I was hoping that he w

We shouldn't be leading relations with Egypt if this is how they're going to treat those who disagree with Islam. Suleiman, whose support site can be found here, has just been convicted for his "crime" and sentenced to four years in prison (H/T: Michelle Malkin). He needs all the support he can get now to be freed.
