When I hear the term, "Media", the first thing that comes to my mind is a news reporter interviewing a helpless calamity affected villager, asking him all the useless questions that one would never even have imagined.
Since the time media has been given complete autonomy, we have forgotten the good old days of the news-reader reading out the news from his news-room occasionally going to the corres
UPDATE, AUGUST 5, 2008: This recent article again shows that one can't seek to accommodate bullies, as to do so costs individual and organizational credibility, and bespeaks the bankruptcy of any Christian denomination or organization when it seeks to sacrifice the cause of "justice" for the desire for "unity" with reactionary or any other kind of bullies. Unless "grace" trumps "legalism," any ch

Tonight, in Duisburg, Turkey finished their Euro 2008 previous matches with a 2-0 victory over Finland.Middlesbrough midfielder Tuncay Sanli opened the match score in the 15th minute and Fenerbahce’s Semih Senturk closed it in the 43th minute during the second half.I couldn’t watch the match on TV so I can’t tell you so much. If you watched it, please let me know if Turkey could, for example
Its a common phenomenon these days to sign a bond agreement before joining any company or organization especially IT organizations. Now, Is it justified? Don't you think that its going against the candidate's freedom. Everyone has the right to take his or her own decision. The companies also know about this.
But then what makes them to go for a bond policy? Should you sign such agreement?
A 17-year-old Iraqi girl was murdered by her father after she fell in love with a British soldier she met while working on an aid program in Basra.
Rand Abdel-Qader was stamped upon, suffocated and stabbed by her father, then given an unceremonious burial to emphasize her disgrace. Police released her father without charge two hours after his arrest.
The pair, whose relationship was innocent, only ever met while working at the aid station. The soldier was helping deliver relief to displaced families as part of his regimental duties. Ms. Abdel-Qader was a volunteer worker.
On the day her father was told of their friendship by a friend, he accused her of having an affair with a British soldier and killed her in front of his wife and their sons.
A total of 47 young women died in “honor
There are a lot of rumors swirling around Felipe Massa and his contract with Ferrari. Currently Massa is under contract with Ferrari until the end of 2010, but rumors say this is a bit of a question considering his poor start with no points.
Talk is weather Massa will be with Ferrari in 2009. [...]

In the light of Lin Dan's recent outburst over the unfair line calls in the recently concluded Korean Open, how much is too far when protesting linecalls? Famous badass Tennis player John McEnroe was famous for throwing his tennis racquets and shouting at umpires while protesting unfair linecalls. His famous catchphrase: 'You cannot be serious' has frequently landed him in trouble with the tennis authorities. In the case of badminton on the other hand, we have the famous incident where Taufik Hidayat walked out of the stadium after several unfair linecalls during the finals of the Hong Kong Open 2006. Although one cannot blame these players for protesting, how far is considered too far? Should badminton players be allowed to express their dissatisfaction freely, till the extent of

A frequent reader recently emailed me the following question:I don't have much free time but I would like to do some deeper studying in the areas of "Justification" and the Catholic view of the atonement. I've read a great many articles on the two subjects but would like to go deeper. I would like to go deeper in Catholic Theology in general, but specifically in these two areas. Can you recommend some books that are not too scholarly, but not a easy, popular read as well?Thank you for your question. Just off the top of my head, here are three books that I would recommend:How Do I Get to Heaven? by Robert SungenisThe Salvation Controversy by Jimmy AkinTheology and Sanity by Frank SheedI'm sure there are many other books that would be helpful as well. Perhaps my readers can suggest some more (hint, hint). At any rate, those three should get you started.I enjoy your blog and appreciate the work you do, it has helped me form a "Catholic Mind", for that I am indebted to you and many othe
We’ve always been proud of our clean human rights record and our ability to stand up for the little guy in any fight. But here’s something that, in the words of ACT MP Rodney Hide, “does away with the fundamental rights of every New Zealander.”
Protests against anti-terror law amendment
Today, hundreds of protesters will descend on Parliament to voice their opposition to anti-terrorism legislation passed yesterday. The hikoi has made its way from Ruatoki, in the Bay of Plenty, the site of police raids on so-called ‘terror suspects’ (those arrested have since faced firearms charges, but all terror charges have since been dropped). While keeping the issue of civil liberty alive, the protesters are too late to halt the passing of the Suppression of Terrorism Act amendment. The legislation passed its third reading yesterday, 108 votes to 13, with the backing of Labour and National. The Greens, ACT and the Maori Party all opposed the legislation.

Dead Man's View Across the Duck Pond. Everyone accepts death but I doubt anyone accepts bad medical treatment and humiliation prior to death. Papworth NHS Trust has always been the centre of clinical excellence. As such it should behave in a way compatible with that title. There is no doubt Papworth NHS Trust used to do some good work for some ill people but their reputation has now got to their head. Indeed, these days they consider themselves the best in the field, so much so that they do not have to take criticism. Papworth NHS Trust has never been able to accept criticism or fault. They also lack transparency because it is all about trading on the reputation of the past. The hospital has this attitude as do the staff. Infact, they think nothing of telling untruths to cover their misdemeanors. That in a nutshell is Papworth NHS Trust. It is much like the Picture of Dorian Gray. They pride themselves in their vanity. The critique below is a number of issues raised by four doctors in
The UF police officers involved in the controversial arrest and Tasering incident of student Andrew Meyer (left) last month are back on duty today, after an FDLE investigation found the officers' use of force against Meyer was justified.
UF President Bernie Machen announced the reinstatement late this morning, when he also posted the 17-page FDLE summary on his Web site, www.president.ufl.edu
Meyer was arrested Sept. 17 during during a town hall forum on campus for U.S. Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass. Officers stunned Meyer with a Taser after he began yelling during the forum, refused to sit down when officers asked him, and then flailed around as officers tried to handcuff him.
The full 300-page report was delivered to UF officials Oct. 19 in two large binders. It also includes many hours of taped interviews.
A full review of the document to remove private information will take another week at least, but will be put online, Machen said in an open letter to students a
So yesterday my old boss instant messaged me out of the blue. She was always like a mother to me and I really loved working with her. However here is how the conversation started: MA says: Hey, send me your blog site again so that I can see your Hawaiian pictures. I didn't get to look at them before. Aimée says: http://newsfromthewhitehome.blogspot.com/ Aimée says: I don't put very much on there unfortunately so it hasn't been updated in awhile Aimée says: how are you? MA says: I am good. I went to the site and your pictures are great. You look way too thin. Are you losing weight? Your trip looks wonderful.one of the photos she would have been referring to me looking "way too thin" Now after I read that last line I felt like she had just punched me in the face. For me that statement would come across EXACTLY the same way as if she had said it the opposite way, “You look way too fat. Are you gaining weight?” Had anyone said that to most people in America yo
About one-quarter of young American Muslims believe to some extent that suicide bombings can be justified to defend Islam, while nearly 80 percent of all U.S. Muslims reject such attacks, a survey showed on Tuesday
This according to a recent poll. This is kind of disturbing. The survey showed 25% support for suicide bombings by 18 to 30 year old AMERICAN Muslims. 80% of all US Muslims condemn this type of attack, so where are the young Muslims learning this from?
If the 18 to 30 year old demographic has 25% support for suicide bombings by AMERICAN Muslims, what is the percentage of support for terrorist activity around the world?
A couple of years ago I was on a project with a coworker installing a WAN and VoIP phone system for a client with multiple offices. Their offices were all in mountain communities and the buildings were usually very old. This necessitated an incredible amount of physical labor just finding places to hang hardware then mounting it. Near the conclusion of this seemingly endless project me and my coworker were talking and wondering why our company had 2 guys in their 40-50s doing this sort of labor and the 20 year old techs were doing much easier but less technical tasks. The hardware couldnt be configured by the younger techs as they just didnt have the knowledge we did. So instead of dividing the task with them installing it and us configuring it everything was just put on the two of us to do. And honestly it beat the hell out of both of us. I was 48 at the time (Im 51 now) and he was a couple of years older. This was the first time I really started realizing I just couldn't kee
Albuquerque Journal18 May 2007RE: “HOW CAN Anyone Support This War” letter
I support this war, and I believe the majority of Americans are very wrong in opposing it. We have been under attack by Muslims for the past 25 years as follows:
November 1979, Iranians attacked and seized the American Embassy in Tehran.
Shortly after the Tehran experience, Americans began to be kidnapped and killed
Yesterday's Italian soccer riots where 18 people had to be hospitalized, combined with an almost endless series of fights, deaths and human suffering connected to soccer that has occurred during the last twenty or so years has finally brought me to this point: Soccer is no longer justified as a spectator sport. I know soccer is big business, and I know I'll probably get my behind chewed on for saying this, but here it is. If you want to keep employing teams and players and play games and tournaments, make them spectator free and broadcast via PPW. The betting can go on like before, and fans can still watch the games. But never again should thousands of supporters be allowed to try to kill each other in arenas. Never again should innocent citizens have their property vandalized by enraged fans of a losing team. Never again should tax payers have to pick up the bill for the hundreds of police officers required to keep the gangs apart. Stop it now!
Justin Timberlake - JustifiedReleased: November, 05, 2002Record Label: JiveAlbum ReviewWith his debut solo album, Justified, Justin Timberlake borrows from Michael Jackson, from the Thriller-era getup and poses to the sharply modernized spin on the classic Off the Wall sound. To be sure, the sound of the Neptunes productions which dominate Justified is the best thing about the album; they have a lush, sexy, stylish feel that is better, more romantic than most modern R&B. Timberlake is a technically skilled vocalist, with a smooth falsetto. The songs are pretty on the surface -- apart from some flop Timbaland productions (which he redeems with the slinky funk of "Right for Me"), the sound of Justified works well.
