New 550-bed Jurong hospital by 2015: Khaw
April 28, 2008 New 550-bed Jurong hospital by 2015: Khaw Next door will be 200-bed hospital for step-down care By Salma Khalik A NEW 550-bed hospital in Jurong will open by 2015, said Health Minister Khaw Boon Wan yesterday, almost a decade later than originally planned. The long-promised hospital was put on hold in favour of Khoo Teck Puat Hospital in Yishun, which is slated to open in 2010 and provide much-needed beds for the north. Mr Khaw told the media yesterday the tender for the Jurong hospital could be delayed until 2010 because of sky-high construction costs. With several major projects going on right now, including the two integrated resorts, demand for labour and supplies is red-hot. The building binge has bumped up the cost of the Yishun hospital by about 25 per cent - from $4

Jurong could be next suburban hot spot
April 13, 2008 Jurong could be next suburban hot spot Swanky new facilities at Jurong Lake District will turn area into top commercial hub By Jessica Cheam The property market might have slowed in recent months, but for home hunters seeking good-value, long-term investments, there is one suburban estate screaming for attention: Jurong. The Housing Board (HDB) town in the western region of Singapore might conjure up images of sprawling factories and sleepy suburbia, but in 10 to 15 years' time, it will undergo a transformation that could propel the estate to the forefront of the suburban property market, say industry experts. Last week, National Development Minister Mah Bow Tan unveiled an ambitious blueprint to transform Jurong into Singapore's only lakeside destination: the Jurong Lake D

In an ambitious plan unveiled yesterday, a large swathe of Jurong will be redeveloped and rebranded the Jurong Lake District. The 350ha area affected is similar in size to Marina Bay, and will boast all the elements of a vibrant mini-metropolis. Jurong Monkey God
This is a normal neighbourhood housing estate. But it had aroused many curious eyes here. Many people who want to inherit some wealth come here to get numbers. Others just come here to take a look. These are two pictures which I had received through my emails from one of my friends. This is called ‘Jurong Monkey God’, as what the title of the email stated. This place is located in Jurong West(if I am not wrong, otherwise, it must be Jurong East). I had not gone there to see, and I would never go. My second brother said someone must have carved the ‘monkey god’ there. Even expert could not give us a good answer when interviewed. Such is life. Many people can do so many funny things all because of money. People ’switch’ religion when the particular religion give them more benefits (such as striking lotteries). Some people ‘believe’ in a religion because the religion offer them a way for ‘praying for money’, ‘pr

Review: Siam Kitchen at Jurong Point
I went to Siam Kitchen for dinner. I had a nice experience in Great World City and expected the same at Jurong Point. Sadly,  no. First, they served the wrong food. We ordered kway teow and noodles but not rice. I wonder whose rice was it. After that, the glass noodle arrived. One was supposed to be seafood, the other, vegetarian. They served both vegetarian. They should be grateful that my friend is not one to kick a huge fuss and demanded a refund. They even served the vegetables with prawns when we had specifically stated vegetarian. I was starting to wonder what exactly was wrong in the order form. There was also prata served to us when we didn’t even order it. When we finally called for the bill, there was a delay. Then they explained about a wrong printing. I’m seriously starting to wonder what was wrong with this branch. © WishBoNe for A Mind of My Own, 2007. | Permalink | No comment This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attri

Today, I went there with my mom (she's here for a visit, and I get to be a tourist guide!) and we had a great time. If not for the very hot and humid weather, it could have been perfect. There's a panoramic monorail, called Panorail, that goes around the park. Room for Rent at Jurong East
[Wednesday, 18 April, 2007]It was another relaxing night again. I had some games of Condition Zero with my elder brother and then caught the soccer match between Manchester United and Sheffield Wednesday United, which the champion scored two goals against nil. I went to bed at 5am.I was waked up by phone calls again and when I finally got up, I was very disappointed to see the shares price dropping badly. I was not sure how much longer I could hold anymore.I gave a call to Grace, Kaven’s banker, but she sounded like I should not be calling her in place of Kaven to get the address of the law firm. I knew my responsible as an agent but she seemed so unprofessional. In the end, she told me she would get the lawyer to call Kaven instead and I was glad to put down the phone. I was quite furious of her attitude but later on when I told Kaven about it, he said the lawyer had called him the day before but he did not tell me.Afterwards, Grace from ERA called me regarding the Lorong Ah Soo fla

The Great Fun at Jurong East Swimming Complex
[Saturday, 15 April, 2007]I was enjoying my early morning playing Condition Zero with my elder brother. After catching the Man Utd match against Watford (4-1), we continued the game until 6am.I waked up at 11am and slowly packed up. I took bus 196 to Clementi and realised everyone was late again. Thus, I went to Mrs Ng’s house alone. It was crowded with many friends and relatives that I felt so out of place immediately with all the unfamiliar faces. However, I got to meet Carol, Mrs Ng’s daughter’s friend, who gave me a lobang for job. Sichun arrived soon and followed by others. However, I had to leave soon for the swimming outing. When I was walking to Clementi MRT, Firman had already arrived. We met up at Chinese Garden MRT. It started to pour but soon stopped. As I was chatting with Firman, Kwang Han messaged me that he was behind me. Tze Siang arrived next, followed by Gilbert and Jielin.
