I confess, I am a car junkie. It may not be evident in this site (yet) but I have been fascinated with cars since puberty. There is something about the automobile that stirs up the adrenaline in me, driving me into a frenzy at the thought of driving one of those amazing works of art. And when I finally got my hands on one of these things, it was pure pleasure. In fact, I couldn’t wait to

We all agree that Katie-Price is a breast augmentation junkie with various upgrades and downsizes to her credit. Following her is Jodie Marsh who despite her one-time claims to preferring natural breasts went ahead and got herself a G-normous pair of breast implants. And from recent behavior, Bianca Gascoigne seems to have joined the ‘Boob Job Club’. The signs are certainly all there. These women are all British and television personalities in their own right. A craving for attention and making it to the headlines everyday is another thread that binds them. They have all had a breast augmentation to further their careers and till date Katie-Price and Bianca have not been satisfied with their respective breast implants. For all you know it may just be a matter of time till when

With the release today of his first big Hollywood movie, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Russell Brand plumbs the depths

I am so impressed with Shannon's talent. I really was clueless as to what specifically I wanted and what she designed is so beautiful and so “me”. It's completely different than anything I've seen. Shannon listened to everything I suggested and incorporated them beautifully. I'm so glad that I hired her!If you're looking for a blog designer I would highly recommend Shannon! She was so easy to work with, her rates are very reasonable, and she incorporated everything I said I wanted and MORE!She took the liberty of changing the Tip Junkie girl's dress and I absolutely lo

How many of us hear the phrase, “you are such a tech junkie?” Recently it is a phrase that I have heard quite a bit. Honestly, I take great pride in finally hitting that point in other’s eyes. It made me think “what is a tech junkie?” And are those of us who have [...]
Junkie XL's new full-length artist album 'Booming Back At You' was released today on Nettwerk Records. The album consists of 12 tracks that fit nicely in the current electro sound. The album starts off with "Booming Right At You", a funky electro house track that includes a sample from Stetsasonic and reminds me of the Freestylers.Next up is "Cities In Dust" featuring vocals from Lauren Rocket. This song was originally written and performed by Siouxsie & The Banshees. Junkie XL's take is full on electro with a punk / rock edge to it. I think people that like Chicks on Speed will really dig this song. See the end of this post for a couple of videos of Junkie XL working on remixes of this song. The fourth song is called "Stratosphere". It is an instrumental track, that has a nice electro

It’s interesting to see how veteran electronic music artists are responding to the new wave of rock-informed (or supposedly rock-informed) acts like Justice, and the looming presence of the reaffirmed, re-ascendant, rock transcendent Daft Punk. While few artists working in this milieu ever find the sunshine beyond Daft Punk’s long shadow, Junkie XL [...]

The NY Times had an interesting article yesterday, Friends Say Drugs Played Only Bit Part for Obama, which contained this: In more than three dozen interviews, friends, classmates and mentors from his high school and Occidental recalled Mr. Obama as being grounded, motivated and poised, someone who did not appear to be grappling with any drug problems and seemed to dabble only with marijuana. The article ended with this quote, from an Obama college friend, “I would never say that he was a druggie, and there were plenty there,” she said. “He was too cool for all that.”Talk about racism!George W. Bush was long rumored to have been more than a casual user of cocaine and had battles with alcohol, but I don’t recall any article being written that talked about interviewing more than 3
If you ever want a really good pedicure, go to a very upscale spa in your area. They are much cleaner than the usual cheesy nail place around the corner. You know the place. A land where quick dry only costs a dollar and somehow you leave paying $70 dollars when you only intended to spend 10. You gotta watch out for these people. Most of them speak no English and barely sanitize the cuticle cutters. Once my mother told me she saw someone folding the dirty wet towels used to wipe feet of and putting them back in the "hot towel cabbie". Lovely.I too used to go to these places until I got the warts (on my feet). If you have ever gotten warts on your feet you know how painful they can be. I got 18 on one foot and 5 on the other. It was an infestation that took more than 6 months to resolve. Now

"Childhood is what you spend the REST of your life trying to overcome."-- from the movie Hope Floats An adult's childhood usually keeps flashing before his/her mind's eye. As years go by, you can't help but reaching out to the child you used to be. It is inescapable.. we carry our childhoods with us to the grave. Thinking about it, I find the above quote to be the truest thing ever said about childhood. Growing up in the third world is not exactly happy. Being a female child in a conservative society sets limits to how childish you are allowed to be. Our generation joins the same pool of memories. There was not much variety then. We all watched the same TV channels (only 2 back then). We all went to Alexandria for summer vacations. We all went to governmental or old private schools. We all saw the Egyptian national team playing in the World Cup when "heaven's justice found its way to Balermo Stadium."Parents in the third world take it for granted that kids will find their way. I've just checked my blog just now and found out someone, who puts a screen name as Jakarta Casual, has left a comment about my writing in early October. The writing was talking about football, about how I never understand why men in general are so crazy about this game, and about me offering a solution for a truce between men and his girl. When men think that shoes and handbags are stupid hobby and boring, so do I think about football in general.Judging by his blog it seems like he's a true believer of football or anything to do with it, and I apparently touched his soft spots and he counter-wrote my writing. I think it's hilarious, and I quote verbatim here (he quoted my 8 rules and left comments on each):Tuesday, October 16, 2007 A woman trying to get her head round football! This post made me smile. I don't normally go off about ather blogs unless they have a relevance to the main topic here but things are a bit quiet. This blog is from an Indonesian woman living in Aberdeen (wh

Queensland's Premier Anna Bligh is talking about a new programme that this mob have come up with called the "Mixup project" ...
And Liberal Member for Currumbin Jan Stuckey has this to say about it...
"Queensland Health, by funding this program, is condoning practices of drug addicts and teaching them how to instruct others by offering cash incentives - this left-wing philosophy is grossly irresponsible."
So what's this "Mixup" business all about then?

Often compared to the druggy psychedelic pop of the Velvet Underground, the Dandy Warhols do possess more than just a passing resemblance to Lou Reed and company at times, but elements of such modern rockers as Love and Rockets and Ride can be detected in their sound as well. Formed in Portland, OR, during 1994, the Dandy Warhols consist of members Courtney Taylor (vocals, guitar), Zia McCabe (keyboards), Peter Holmstrom (guitar), and Eric Hedford (drums), who signed on with the independent label Tim/Kerr shortly after their formation. In 1995 came the release of the quartet's debut release, Dandy's Rule OK?, and while other rock bands may be a bit hesitant to spell out their influences, the Dandy Warhols decided to openly advertise it, as the album contained such song titles as "Lou Weed" and "Ride." Capitol Records signed the group the same year, but the Dandy's new label rejected a second album they submitted (claiming it didn't have any "hits"). Disappointed but undeterred, the

We’re not entirely sure why we’ve been on a rampage against these junkie idiots that continue to plague Hollywood, but when one tries to take themselves out it almost seems like they’re doing the world a favor. Owen Wilson is the latest in an extremely long list of people that we were initially empathetic towards but are now turning the cold shoulder to. From NYPost:
Wilson was hooked on heroin and cocaine, struggling with depression and hanging out with the wrong crowd in the months before his attempted suicide, according to a bombshell new report.
Wilson’s drug use was so frequent, it was even the cause of his Memorial Day breakup with Kate Hudson.
And his friends are placing the blame squarely on Wilson’s newfound best buddy, British actor Steve Coogan, with whom he starred in several films, according to exclusive interviews in US Weekly magazine.
“I went through it with Steve,” Coogan’s former girlfriend, rocker Courtney Love, t

Rachael Mills rocks.Miss Mills was the 2002 Libertarian candidate for the House of Representatives in North Carolina. She is a thirty-two year old small town Southern girl who likes ballroom dancing, history, dogs, fruity martinis, Sarah Silverman, marijuana and Ron Paul. Rachael Mills is a cute, intelligent girl who loves her country, and happens to agree with me on a bunch of stuff. I think I'm in love. But sigh--she is straight (though "pinups" are listed as an interest, which is--well, interesting).Although I am certain she would have eventually made the blog anyway, today Rachael is featured because she is a self-professed Ron Paul junkie:At this time she is working on the first TV commercials for Dr. Paul. They will air on the The Daily Show in the DC area. The idea is to try and get the attention of the mainstream political reporters, who have been nice enough to choose the top tier presidential candidates for us. Unfortunately the two who have the most to offer (Mike Gravel a

Today I received an email about precautions you should take when joining and participating in forums.Generally, I subscribe to these emails in order to sift through the information for the occasional hidden gem of advice. I found the advice below to be of value, and have paraphrased the five points to make them shorter and more to the point. Here are some things you should consider before joining an online forum.1. The name of the forum has the word "Scam" in it. This should be an alarm. You cannot search to see if a forum is a "scam" when the name contains the word "scam"?2. Members are allowed to post links in the signature directly underneath all posts. People will only leave comments to steal traffic away from the forum with a link back to their site.3. The forum is a "hang out" for online marketers . Typically these fo

Verdammt !
I'm just a California-native, wife and mom of 3 kids (aged 6, 3, 1).At the end of the day when the kids are finally in bed, I like to unwind with a glass of wine in the tub by watching a little TV with Mr. TV Junkie. I have a wide interest in TV shows (some I'm too embarrassed to admit like The Hills!).Mr. TV Junkie likes Sci-Fi channel and I have come to enjoy his shows (Heroes, Battlestar Galactica, Stargate SG1 & Atlantis) and he now enjoys mine (24, American Idol, LOST, etc.).Since we added the DVR to our family, we watch more TV shows and fewer commercials. We can also watch at our leisure. Every once in awhile I see moments or hear quotes that I like about the shows.TV Shows that have story lines deep in anthology or mysteries or great writing are my favorites to blog about and I always wonder what others are thinking. I started this blog to keep track of my favorite shows and to share and chat with others of the same interest. It has also been a fun experiment to learn how blo

I guess there is. The support group is called Idols Anonymous and we meet every week in front of the television on Tuesday nights at 9:00pm.
I don't know why I'm embarrassed. There are funny auditions, quality performances, great clothes, and enough criticism to bring a tear to the
ITV News has this about the idea of helping drug addicts by providing high quality drugs for their use.
Heroin should be prescribed to more addicts in a bid to reduce crime, according to one of the country’s top police officers.
Ken Jones, president of the Association of Chief Police Officers (Acpo), called for the drug to be made available to long-term users so they did not have to commit crime to fund their habit.
The Government announced plans more than five years ago to massively expand an existing scheme which prescribes medical-grade heroin, but the number of addicts on the scheme has remained the same.
Obviously, the thrust of the story is that governments talk tough on drugs, but do nothing; frequently because they are too scared of what they imagine the public’s reaction might be if they appear to be pandering to criminal elements.
You could possibly wipe out the drug problem by using the methods outlined above and making drugs available through state operated cent

I get excited during Tuesdays because I finally have the chance to download the next Heroes episode. I’m totally guilty of being an avid watcher of practically all primetime US-television that I can be found frequently stalking both Isohunt and Mininova (preferring the former over the latter). I download it the moment it airs in the States, so I’m up-to-date with everything.
Among those series are the following:
Heroes – I can’t even stress enough how hooked I am. And together with my fellow Heroes geeks (those who happened to encounter the show and those brainwashed by me), I can talk about it for hours.
Prison Break – I’ve managed to follow the show religiously since it premiered. It is getting really good. The fact that I can’t get enough of Wentworth Miller doesn’t help.
Grey’s Anatomy – This is the one show that I can’t help but end up bawling one episode after another. I’m serious. I end up crying every d

I'm a recovering Nyquil addict. For the past two night have slept drug-free for the first time in three weeks. But things haven't been going as smoothly as I hoped. Last night I officially went to bed at 11pm and didn't fall asleep until at least 3:30. Tonight I was in bed at midnight but as you can see, no luck so far. I'm trying to keep my mind off of the darling little bottle of cherry Nyquil in the bathroom that has sleep written all over it. The cough is gone, I need to quit. Here was the battle plan for tonight -Plan A: I took a long soothing bath before bedtime to relax then eased under the blankets surrounded by my fortress of pillows. Soon I was feeling sleepy but then out of nowhere the Mighty Mouse theme song popped into my head and 45 minutes later I was still singing it in my head and tapping my feet to the beat. Curse those catchy 50's theme songs! Proceed to Plan B.Plan B: I started running through some of my self-hypnosis exercises to still my body and calm

Okay- I'll admit it- I am a coffee junkie.Do they have caffeine-aholics anonymous somewhere? I'd be a perfect candidate. I cannot go through the morning without a cup o' coffee. It's just so good. It's really, really bad, though. I actually get caffeine headaches when I haven't had that cup in the morning. To top it all off, I'm a coffee snob. Only high-end stuff for me, please. No 8 o'clock for me. They claim to be 'America's Favorite Coffee'? Pfft. I'd rather have a cup of Vermont Coffee Company or Starbuck's, at least. It features fascinating discussions on topics relevant to all Americans. I particularly enjoyed the podcast titled, I See Dead People, in which forensic anthropologist Dr. Bill Bass, the inventor of the University of Tennessee "body farm," discusses his work.
