I had the honor on Saturday of working on my first Habitat for Humanity house. What a humbling experience, my friends. We arrived early in the morning and were briefed on the job by the foreman and Habitat representative. We were told that the land we were working on had been donated by a local church, and was one lot of 50. Habitat had built the entire community. We were working on house number 48 in the neighborhood, and after two more, the community of Jubilee Heights would be complete. Jubilee—celebration, festivity…how appropriate. The Jubilee Project has confirmed the cancellation of it’s plans to host a Western Skiing Event in Park City, Utah–which was beginning a buzz along the Wasatch Front this summer.
Jubilee, a Utah Organization with a national sales team for United First Financial, wanted to involve it’s agents and generate a comrodery among it’s ranks of professionals.
“There’s not better snow on earth than Utah.” stated Lee Bradshaw, on of the Co-Founders of The Jubilee Project. “We hoped this would be an opportunity to build closer relationships among our team, while showing the beautiful winter life of this state.”

The Year of Jubilee (Leviticus 25) is one of the most radical things I’ve come across in the Bible. It’s one of those passages non-Christians should know and ask all the Christians they talk to about, and expect some sort of a response regarding it. The Year of Jubilee is many things, but one thing it is in particular is a time for all debts to be forgiven, and everyone to have a fresh start. Could you imagine this happening? It’s supposed to happen about once every 50 years, so let’s just say, oh 2009 happens to be the next Jubilee Year. What would happen if this was carried out on an Individual Level? Church? City? Country? World?
