Jumong is the name of the legendary founder of Goguryeo, King Dongmyeongseon g. The story starts with the conflict between Gojoseon, an ancient Korean kingdom, and Han Chinese forces, eventually leading to a fragmented Korean Peninsula. Hero-in-the-making Jumong (Song Il Kook, Emperor of the Sea) is born in this time of chaos and struggle in the little independent state of Buyeo. He quickly finds himself the most unlikely of princes and the victim of a rivalry with his brother Dae So (Kim Seung Soo, A Million Roses). 'Dae Jo Young' has taken the lead in the historical drama battle after the end of 'Jumong.' The KBS drama series recorded a 29.7% viewer rating on the 25th, the best since it began airing. The average being around 25%, the ratings have risen and are looking forward to breaking the 30% point. It is advancing past the SBS series 'Yeongaesomoon' which rated at20.7%, and is ranked third amongst the overall programs broadcasted throughout the week at 25.5%. The Sankei Sports reported March 19 that Fuji TV will air a special program in early April to draw viewers’ attention.The program will feature greetings from the drama’s cast as well as sketches showing filming. King Dongmyeongseong of Goguryeo (58 - 19 BCE, r. 37 - 19 BCE), also known by his birth name Jumong (주몽, 朱蒙), was the founding monarch of Goguryeo, the northernmost of the Three Kingdoms of Korea.
