Journaling filesystems come with a big promise: they free system administrators from the need to worry about disk corruption resulting from system crashes. It is, in fact, not even necessary to run a filesystem integrity checker in such situations. The real world, of course, is a little messier than that. As a recent discussion shows, it may be even messier than many of us thought, with the integr

As our regualar readers are aware, Miss Artistic is coping with depression and in an effort to help her work through it I have been researching what I can do at home to help supplement her medication and therapy.
I have picked up a multivitamin and an Omega-3-6-9 softgel. I have procured some lavender oil to [...]
Now, here's a flower about which I know absolutely nothing. Really! Except that it's a flower, and I think it's poisonous - wasn't there a movie called "White Oleander"? Anyway, I'm betting that some of you have them and love them!

Winning the conversations that you have with your inner voice is one of the main keys to getting the most out of your songwriting.
For me, writing down my thoughts (journaling) is one of the best strategies for doing that however, there needs to be some conditions attached to this exercise.
1. It has to be done every day. Make [...]

Homeschooling parents know that learning comes in a variety of ways. One way students can increase their knowledge of a subject is through journaling. Journaling is a learning tool that can be used in any class; it allows students to improve their writing skills, process information, and better understand a subject. Read more [...]
Today I would like to share some informations about XFS. Most of you probably use ext2/3 filesystem for your Linux partitions, but you should really try XFS too.
If we will look at the history of Linux filesystems, you will find, that XFS is actually the oldest journaling filesystem for Unix systems and it is very mature. The development started in 1993 by Silicon Graphics. The system was then released under GNU in the year 2000. XFS then merged into the mainline Linux 2.4 and 2.6 kernels, making it available on Linux systems. (more…)
The photo in this entry is Diva. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez.Since I began my current journal in March I have only managed to fill it halfway. Lately I have hardly been writing entries which is quite the difference from several entries a day when I began. My Moleskine is still in good shape, although it has become lonely. My pen no longer graces its pages as eagerly as it once did. I feel so bad about it.One of the reasons I don't journal as often is because I no longer have as many opportunities as I once did to do so. I have been quite busy with preparing to attend a college art class this month, blogging on a daily basis, managing my photography work, being involved in the 1001 Journals project, managing my email, attending events, and soon corresponding with pen pals.I have not given up on journaling, which has been as neglected as sketching lately. Although, I am surely at a slower pace than I want to be. I usually manage to get an entry a week now, and only one
The photo in this entry is Feather Tickle. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez.Since I started the journal I'm currently writing in, I have been able to explore more of myself than in previous journals. I began this journal with the intent to be more honest with myself in an effort to break through my typical method of writing. I knew if I wanted different results from my writing, I needed to take a different approach. Nearly 100 pages later, I'm really glad I did.Although I have done a lot of self exploration in journaling in the past, this new approach involves being more raw and personal than I have ever been. I'm actually more comfortable with more things in my life, and I have a boost of confidence. I've been realizing some deep aspects about myself and my life as well. I guess if you dig deep enough, there's always something to find. Previously, I would only scratch the surface in my efforts to learn more about myself and my world. There are two things that I remain
Collages and journaling are symbiotic. My newest blog site that I think is truly wonderful is called "Treats & Treasures of a Journal Keeper". Artist Marieke Berghuis makes collage journals. They are wonderful. I only wish I could commit all my little bits of paper and photos and ticket stubs to a journal. I am afraid. Yes, it's true ... fear rules my ability to create art. Well, at least in this case it does. Maybe it isn't fear but "commitment". If I commit that little scrap of paper with the beautiful flower on it to a specific page but then later decide I want to use it somewhere else?? Instead I live with piles and piles of magazines, scraps of paper, objects and all manner of other things.Anyway, visit Treats & Treasures to see some lovely journals and maybe get some inspiration.
The photo in this entry is For You. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez.Since I am not doing photography right now, I am replacing that creative task with writing. I bought myself some moleskines yesterday and started writing and writing, I filled 5 pages. Since I have so much to express, and it has been bottled up within me for so long, I decided to start journaling again. As much as I wish I could write in this blog without restraint or judgment like I would in a personal journal, I don't have that privilege. So I'm writing my heart out in my new moleskine. Moleskines are surely worth the money they sell for. I probably won't go to much into creativity as many moleskine fans do, but I love being inspired by the examples of others' journals. It is really interesting how using a moleskine can allow you to participate in a phenomenon of art and writing popularity that opens up a whole different avenue of social community.Although yesterday was my first day in my new journa

It is almost a week since we were in Narrabeen on the coast just above Sydney when I began this sketch & the next few. Which is a pity as I feel like Journaling the trip, but it is too late, I am back in New Zealand and back at work.
I have wondered what will become of my interest in sketching & art once the 1000 are done. Well here is one thing that is almost certain, I will start a Sketchblog, a sketch journal. It has begun here in a way, but it will have a different life outside of this project.

I guess most of us had seen layouts with journaling that's in the shape of a circle. Recently, I've also done one layout using this technique. The title of the layout is "So Sweet!" in my family gallery. The journaling is as below. To do this, just typed your journals using Microsoft Words and then apply the WordArt tool to it. You can choose which ever WordArt you liked and later alter the shape of it by clicking the WordArt shape button. Choose the shape circle in that option and automatically, your journaling would change its shape. Isn't this amazing what normal Microsoft Office softwares could do for you.
By Catherine Franz Whether you keep a separate spiritual journal or just want to add your spiritual postings in your regular journal, you will want to read this. Personal journaling supports our development and growth. But spiritual journaling goes deeper. Spiritual writing is a reflection of our soul. Like personal journaling it too is a tool for self-discovery, aids concentration, is a safety valve for emotions, a training ground for improving thought to paper processing, and builds self-esteem and confidence.
You can also see this on The Whole Mom(Preface: I know this is a long one, but please, take the time to read it)I write regularly in my journal. I take that back-I used to write regularly in my journal. This past year, I have gone from being a faithful, detailed, everyday journal keeper to writing a sporadic, intermittent mix of half coherent fragments from the day. When I wrote on a regular basis, I could easily fill a two hundred page hard-bound journal within a month or less. These days, it takes me a disappointing four months to finish a book with the same amount of pages. In the new journal I recently started, I write half sentences, ideas that go nowhere, fragments of events that I wanted to record, all left hanging in mid-sentences.These days, I find I put most of my journaling energy into the Mama Says blog. That, in a sense, has become my journal. However, I am not completely satisfied with this. I don't want it to become my journal. A journal, to me, is something that is pe
