Rizal dedicated this poem to Josephine Bracken, an Irish
woman who went to Dapitan accompanying a man
seeking Rizal’s services as an ophthamologist.
To Josephine
Josephine, Josephine
Who to these shores have come
Looking for a nest, a home,
Like a wandering swallow;
If your fate is taking you
To Japan, China or Shanghai,
Don’t forget that on these shores
A heart for you beats high.

Please pray for the eternal repose of the soul of my Aunt Josie. She passed away last August 2 at the age of 45, still very young and beautiful. She left a husband and 3 lovely children. I regret that I'd rarely visited her. Now she's gone; and I've missed her.If you want to use the comment area to put your prayer, please feel free to do so. But, publishing of the comment will take a while as it
John Feldmann, Sänger und Gitarrist von Goldfinger, seines Zeichens aber auch A&R von Warner Bros. Nachdem er ja schon bei The Used und Story of the Year [...]

Josephine WallJosephine was born in Farnham, Surrey, England in 1947. Educated at Farnham and Parkstone Grammar Schools, her family moved to Poole, Dorset when she was 14. Her paintings are mainly fantasies, influenced and inspired by the illustrative talents of Arthur Rackam, the surrealism of artists such as Magritte and Dali, and the romanticism of the pre-Raphaelites, which combined with her own imaginative ideas has led to a wide and varied range of work. Josephine is also an accomplished sculptor and has created a number of unique figurines. Using natural stone found locally, various modelling materials and semi-precious stones, she creates models that once painted, challenge the viewer to find where the stone ends and the figure begins. An increasing demand for character windows, led her to experiment in this field using self adhesive lead and vitreous paint, to reproduce traditional lead-lights and many of her own designs. Due to her individualistic, textured use of acrylic med
How I ran into this book is a story in itself: I was making a web search of
Finnish conductors, when my eye caught the phrase "Finnish conductor Aleksi
Kullio". I was shocked to know that there is a Finnish professional conductor
around whose name I don't know, and especially with such a funny last name! I
of course had to follow the... Read Book Review: The Dewey Decimal System of Love by Josephine Carr
Are you wondering what "Josephine's Kitchen" is? Curious aren't you?
Okay, I shan't beat around the bush. Josephine's Kitchen is neither a new restaurant, cafe nor stall. It's just Josephine's Kitchen, literally.
Let me explain. My new "mummy" at work is called Josephine (she's my new mummy but not someone new in the office), and apparently she cooks. Quite well in fact. And where does she cook at? Her kitchen of cause. So that's how "Josephine's Kitchen" came about!
I'm lame. I know.
Anyway. I told her that I'd blog about the dishes she cooked for me. So yes, that's what I'm doing now.
Now to introduce you to the first dish...

John Alvin Ray (January 10, 1927–February 24, 1990) was an American singer, songwriter and pianist. He was one of the most popular American singers of his day, and is considered by many people to be the forerunner of what would become rock 'n' roll.Ray was born in Hopewell (near Dallas), Oregon, and spent part of his childhood on a farm, eventually moving to Portland, Oregon. He is often correctly said to be of American Indian origin, due to the claims of a publicity agent. His great-grandmother was full blooded Indian & his great-grandfather was George Kirby Gay of Berkley, Gloucestershire, England. He became deaf in his right ear at age 12 due to an accident as a Boy Scout involving a blanket toss, when he fell on the ground hitting his ear, and would often perform wearing a mauve hearing aid. A later operation left him almost completely deaf in both ears.Ray first attracted attention while performing at the Flame Showbar in Detroit, an R&B nightclub where he was the only white pe

Inspired by Sheila457's beautiful skirt review, I have some questions about using quilting cottons for skirts.
Are there any general guidelines to follow when choosing quilting cottons for skirts? And I'm assuming I should prewash & dry at least once on hot, but should I do more? And do quilting cotton skirts wear well without slips, or should I underline them with self-fabric? I've never underlined anything, but I guess it's just a matter of cutting doubles of the panels and then treating them as one. (?)
Also, I've made skirts with embroidered linen, but linen seems to have a more substantial hand than plain cotton. Are quilting cotton skirts pretty thin? Maybe I could/should wear a slip?
Any advice greatly appreciated. :)Last post by Irene Q at Sat 03 May 2008 09:13:23 AM Total pos
Okay, no sooner did I finish my last entry on diet pills then I received an email from a woman named Josephine who tells me she was over 300 pounds and her doctor prescribed Phentermine. Well apparently it worked for her because she's now a healthy 160. Of course she supplemented them with a h (more)
