In 1983 I took a trip to Turkey sponsored by the Overseas Private Investment Corporation, OPIC. It was a government sponsored trip to seek investment opportunities in Turkey. My last night I spent in Izmir having dinner with my interpreter and a business owner interested in doing business in America. They ordered for me and [...]

One day at the end of April we heard news that Superbad actor Jonah Hill was in talks to appear in Transformers 2. However, a few days later it was reported that he was no longer in talks. I was happy about this because I wasn’t too keen on him being in Transformers 2, and [...]
Eric Bana, Jason Schwartzman and Jonah Hill have joined the ensemble of "Funny People," which will be co-financed by Universal Pictures and Columbia Pictures, with Universal distributing worldwide next summer.
Yesterday, I fantasized about McCain running on a unity NeoCon ticket, a ticket that would be a political windfall for the Libertarian Party. Today, NRO's Jonah Goldberg calls for the very same thing:Meanwhile, a national-unity ticket would, among other things, expose Obama’s fraudulent claims to be a post-partisan uniter and reformer. The party-line, left-wing Democrat has done almost nothing i

The Superbad actor Jonah Hill who in the picture below looks a little rough and should have a shave is [...]
Before Johnny Depp was in Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, he was in 21 Jump Street. Remember that series?
That was back when Johnny Depp was nothing but a poster boy and not known yet as a great talent that he is now.
I should be one of the talking heads in VH1’s I Love the 80s.

Nahum vs. JonahJohn ShuckFirst Presbyterian ChurchElizabethton, TennesseeApril 20, 2008An oracle concerning Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum of Elkosh. A jealous and avenging God is the Lord, the Lord is avenging and wrathful;the Lord takes vengeance on his adversaries and rages against his enemies. The Lord is slow to anger but great in power, and the Lord will by no means clear the guilty.--Nahum 1:1-3When God saw what they did, how they turned from their evil ways, God changed his mind about the calamity that he had said he would bring upon them; and he did not do it. 42But this was very displeasing to Jonah, and he became angry. He prayed to the Lord and said, ‘O Lord! Is not this what I said while I was still in my own country? That is why I fled to Tarshish at the beg
At the age of 51 Cannablist Bar-Jona dies in prison while serving his 130 year term! He was sentenced for kidnapping, raping, strangling and kiliing a Montana boy in 1996. Jona murdered a 10 year old boy and cut him and fed him to the neighbor! He was later arreststed for impersonating a police officer and a search of his home turned up body remains and evidence of sexual assault. The cause of death is not back yet and they also found a recipe handwritten with human as an ingredient! This is a crazy story and one less dangerous lost soul off the street forever!
Jonah’s one of those easy books to read – four chapters with a beginning, middle, end and moral. As with Esther, some see this as evidence of fiction, but again, a storytelling style is hardly a conclusive indication of whether or not a story is true.God tells Jonah to tell the evil people of Nineveh to repent. Eventually, Jonah goes there and tells them that they are going to be destroyed.
In his Evolution of Religious Bigotry article on Fitna, the Dutch anti-Koran movie, and people who place Darwin fish symbols on their cars, Jonah Goldberg makes two points:
1. That it's rude for people to put anti-anything symbols on their cars.
2. That people who do so are cowardly because they'd never offend the religion whose adherents would actually harm them, and hypocritical because they condemn the nice religion.
Some thoughts:
1. I always thought the Darwin fish were in bad taste and hypocritical as well as an unnecessary disturber of the public peace. The Christian fish itself is inoffensive- a positive message that only implies that non-believers will go to Hell. People who'd use the Darwin bumper sticker (I know such people.) would counter that Christianity is a wort
Jonah Hill of Superbad and Knocked Up fame, has something to tell Andy Samberg. He has fallen love with Andy's father. They have kissed and even bl ... Here HT to Matt for this one. It's an absolutely classical video clip, don't miss it!
If you didn’t catch last night’s episode of Saturday Night Live, you missed a very uncomfortable scene with guest star Jonah Hill (Superbad) and Andy Samberg’s ‘father’. This clip definitely rivals anything we’ve seen between Jimmy Kimmel and Ben Affleck. Tags: andy amberg, jonah hill, late night, nbc, saturday night live, snl, video,

In the book of Jonah, the ideas of “going up” and “going down” are significant and often indicate the state of Jonah’s obedience to God’s divine call. When the word of the LORD comes to Jonah at the beginning of the book, God commands Jonah to “Arise” (~Wq) and “cry out against” the great city of Nineveh (Jon 1:2). The reason that God gives his prophet this particular command is because the distress or wickedness of the city had “come up” (hl[) before the LORD. Because the distress of Nineveh had “come up” before the LORD, he commands his prophet to “get up” and cry out against the city. Jonah responds to this divine imperative by “rising up” (~q'Y"w:), but only so that he can “flee to Tarshish from the presence of the LORD” (1:3).After rising up to flee from God’s call, Jonah begins to go down away from the LORD’s presence. He first goes down (dry) to Joppa, and then he “goes down” (dry) into a ship that is just about to leave for Tars

Check out this video as Superbad’s Jonah Hill flips out on an interviewer after the questions get a little pointed. However, do take it as a joke because it is one. The interviewer is Edgar Wright - director of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz.
Still definitely worth the watch though. Superbad opens this weekend!

I just read Johah Bloom’s June 18th Advertising Age article “Why the iPhone Will Be a Big Success.” It is not a bad article, but with all the sea changes in our industry you might think that the Editor of Advertising Age would find a more compelling topic to address. Talking about the iPhone naysayers and forecasting iPhone’s success isn’t the “going out on a limb” type of commentary I expect from Mr. Bloom. I hope Jonah gets back to the topics that draw us to his column such as advocating for a change agent at the 4A’s, discussing consumer-created ads and advocating for a tighter relationship between marketing and PR.
Nitpicker:
Dear Jonah,
You’ve made it clear that you do not intend to pay off the $1000 wager you made with Juan Cole two years ago. You told Editor and Publisher that Jeff Cohen, founder of the Fairness & Accuracy in Reporting, (and, presumably, the rest of the bloggers who’ve been bugging you about the bet) know that “Cole never took the bet, but he’s trying to muddy the waters. Indeed, I’ve admitted that Cole would have won. I’ve written that the Iraq War was a mistake.” And you have. Kudos (although I think your statement before the war that “The United States needs to go to war with Iraq because it needs to go to war with someone in the region and Iraq makes the most sense” demands something more than a simple apology. A year in a hairshirt, perhaps? Six months as a lunch lady at the Camp Anaconda chow hall? People are, after all, dying over there.)
Still, you’re right that Cole didn’t officially take the bet,
Welcome to another edition of Meet the Guys Monday! Today features .. Jonah! (say hello to Jonah!) Isn't he the absolute cutest? N has a friend who lives in Canada, and we used to ship each other Christmas presents (before a child bankrupted us!) and one year, at Clintons or some other major greetings card shop, I fell in love with this adorable polar bear! I couldn't believe how much I coveted his scarf with the blue stars and the furry little balls at the ends. And his fur and paws are so soft, I wanted him. But at the time, N gave a reasonable sounding argument against buying one for ourselves and we walked out of the shop with just the one polar bear as a gift for Canada-girl. I felt a bit down. I fall in love very easily with stuffed animals, and this was love-at-first sight for me, I didn't walk away easily. Christmas came around, and I could tell N had some fun surprise for me... What he likes to do (but I try not to count on it!) is he'll spread my gifts (this happens at b
