Jerry Falwell - JK Rowling - Madeleine McCann - Simon Cowell - NJ Brushfire - Life in General
I haven’t written much in way of an update in a while and mainly it is due to anxiety and depression issues rearing their ugly heads yet again.  The main effect is that I am not sleeping through the night, even if I take a sleep aid.  I wake up repeatedly all night long and when my alarm goes off (all too early) I am quite simply emotionally physically and spiritually weary.  Additionally I am feeling overwhelmed and overworked and pulled in a few too many directions and am moody and irritable as a result. Mr. Grumpy (aka The PopPop aka My Dad) has been …. well …. particularly grumpy lately.  GamerDude has been in a lot of pain due to coming complely off his daily pain med regimin and as of last night has developed some kind of stomach virus just for shits and giggles.  MissAngst is particularly Angsty.  PrincessNibbles is just fine though …. at least SOMEBODY is happy. Other than that I have been catching up on TV viewing as I am on break from college

Jerry Falwell Extrañado Con Lo Caliente Que Es El Cielo
Jerry Falwell: Dealing With the Devil
The Rev. Jerry Falwell’s death will elicit scores of eulogies on the good the televangelist did, even while acknowledging some hurtful actions, such as blaming gays and civil libertarians for 9/11. But there is another little-known chapter of Falwell’s career: his collaboration with a Korean cult leader bent on transforming the United States into a theocracy. Like other prominent Republican

      Jerry Falwell Now in Hell
The nuns taught me never to speak ill of the dead, so originally I thought it best to remain silent on this one.But to be honest, and at the risk of offending those who invariably arise to decry those who take pleasure in the death of a fellow human being, I think it fair to say the world is a better place with Jerry Falwell no longer a part of it.He went out the same way he lived--fat and disgusting.Perhaps God finally got tired of having the guy speak for him. Some of Falwell's more thought provoking ideas:"AIDS is not just God's punishment for homosexuals; it is God's punishment for the society that tolerates homosexuals."And the 9-11 attach was the avenging hand of the Lord on America:"Feminists…gays, lesbians, the ACLU and People for American Way helped this happen."Actually, if circumstances had been a little different, Osama bin Laden and Falwell could have been good buds. They are actually soul mates.Let us pause and listen to this man of the Lord:Couldn't you just hear J

      The Death Of Jerry Falwell
Founder Of Moral Majority DiesNote: While being sympathetic "abstractly" to a few of Rev. Falwell's issues and causes, we could never support him as Christians because of his heretical views. Falwell and supporters failed to realize they were just as dangerous as those groups he opposed.Jerry Falwell was ordained a Baptist minister in 1956. He immediately started his own church, the Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg, Virginia, where he was pastor until his death. He began telecasting his weekly sermons in 1968. In 1971, he founded Lynchburg Baptist College, later called Liberty University.Born and raised in America's segregated South, Falwell preached that racial segregation was the Lord's will, but dropped such overt racism from his perspective when it became unpopular to say such things aloud. Still, from his pulpit Falwell supported South African apartheid, and opposed Nelson Mandela's release from prison. In 1979, Falwell was a founder of the Moral Majority, a political ac

      God bless you, Jerry Falwell
I was shocked and saddened to hear today about the passing of Jerry Falwell. My prayers go out on behalf of Rev. Falwell's family, his church congregation at Thomas Road, and the Liberty University community. I had the chance to meet Jerry several years ago, and he struck me as a warm and caring individual who loved God and loved helping young people. I know scores of pastors and people involved in music who are doing great works and who got their start at Liberty University. He opened up the doors for Third Day to play at Liberty more times than I can count, and for that I am grateful. Yes, he was very outspoken, and yes, I often found myself throwing my hands up in the air as a result, but I know that his ultimate motive was to tell people about Jesus, even if I might have disagreed with the politics or the technique or the tone. I'm sure there will be much debate in blog circles about Falwell, but as a Christian, I mourn the loss of a brother in Christ and a mighty man of Go

      Jerry Falwell Dies
Today Jerry Falwell, founder of Moral Majority, died at age 73. I'm not going to publically cheer his death, but I will be frank about my feelings on this. In the 1980's Falwell was the face of the Christian Conservative movement. That mantle has since passed to people like James Dobson, but, in his time, Falwell did more to hurt America's civil liberties than anyone else. With his insistence on mixing fundamental Christianity with politics and his demonization of entire segments of society, Falwell's crusade seriously undermined the Constitution, tried to return our society to the Middle Ages, and helped spread "acceptable" forms of hate through his homophobia and dislike for non-Christians. I don't wish death on anyone. I know this life we have is the only one we've got, so everyone's time on Earth is precious. However, I will certainly not miss Falwell and America is better off without him. Good riddance.Black Sun Journal has more on what Falwell did to harm America.

      Jerry Falwell is dead R.I.P.
I remember watching him in the early eighties and finding his anti-communism and pro-traditional values interesting. He avoided personal scandal and I'm sure he was sincere in his beliefs and a nice man. I won't say that I agree with everything he said, especially his reported exaggerations on homosexuals; his always unwise, mostly off-putting, and often dumb, apocalyptic prognostications; and the assigning of blame for disasters, specific diseases, and such on God's anger. Anyways, he said some things that made sense and saw the cultural situation as one would see a war, connecting the dots between the anti-Christian beliefs, the left, and politics. Oh, and he was right about Tinky Winky.

      Jerry Falwell Dead at 73
By Mimi Rothschild So says CNN.  One of the most recognizeable, controversial, and influential evangelical Christians of our time, Jerry Falwell played a large role in the mobilization of modern Christianity towards political efforts.  In other words, he made religion a political platform. We at The Southern Baptist Academy would like to extend our heartfelt sympathy to the Falwell family as well as to the larger family of Christians in Lynchburg, VA.  He was surely a well-loved and highly admired man. He was not admired by all, largely due to his steadfast devotion to traditional family values and outspoken criticism of the moral relativism of the Left.  Rev. Falwell has surely made his mark on modern American Christianity.  As such, it has been said that he was a lightening rod for his beliefs.  May we all express the same moral steadfastness that this great church leader showed throughout life.

      Oh No! I'm Jerry Falwell!
I was bored tonight, and came across this test that supposedly would tell me what kind of Christian I am. And as it turns out, I am a Jerry Falwell. Jerry Falwell Christian (a.k.a. “Historicist” or “Literalist”) You view the Bible as historically accurate and divinely inspired. You go to church every Sunday, with the Good Book in a Bible cover, and Wednesday night for Bible study. You’ve read at least one of the books in the apocalyptic “Left Behind” series, prefer your iced tea very sweet, and suspect Bill Clinton has murdered somebody somewhere in Arkansas. You watch “Touched by an Angel,” even though you think it’s not Christian enough. You may watch Mother Angelica’s Eternal Word Television Network, and you adore Dr. Laura, Chuck Colson, James Dobson, and Rush Limbaugh. If you’re Catholic, you go to Latin Mass and weekly confession, though you don’t have much to confess. You think homosexuals are sinful
