I’m going to try to talk about the issue, but I’ve got to get a couple things out of the way. First, in this annual, the Outsiders fight neo-con facists. Today, the new Batman and the Outsiders is written by a neo-con (don’t know if Chuck Dixon is a facist though… probably. At least a facist sympathizer). Second, in this annual, the bad guy tries spying on the entire world with a satillete… which is something the modern Batman does (or tried to do). The lesson? I don’t know… someone already did the whole DC gives a boatload of money to Republicans article a couple years ago, so I guess it’s been done.
Anyway, back to the annual. It’s easily the best issue of the series. Barr follows the traditional team annual–setup, split the heroes into pairs, conclusion. I just received a note stating that the short film “Hollywood Jerome,” which I mentioned back on June 14, is premiering on Oct. 20 in Chicago at 1104 S. Wabash at 7 p.m. as part of the IFP/Chicago Flyover Zone Short Film Festival.The short film, which addresses urban themes and still isn’t listed on IMDb, is credited to Frey Hoffman (director, cinematographer and producer) and Malik Yusef (actor, writer, narrator and producer).The film won a $100,000 grant from the IFP/Chicago Production Fund. Hoffman was the director of photography on Kanye West’s “Jesus Walks”. Yusef is a Chicago wordsmith and a veteran of HBO’s “Def Poetry Jam”.

I’ve asked Jerome Tan to sign an affidavit as a sworn testimony that he has not participated in the selling of counterfeit goods, and he has refused so far to do so. It was previously titled “Sunnyvale”.Once you know the new title, he says it’s an “actually funny” comedy with a plot that’s not hard to guess. Today was a really enjoyable appearance on the WDVE Morning Show, as I was greeted by Penn State assistant coach and probable JoePa successor Tom Bradley, who was in-studio for the morning. Once a year, Bradley comes in to read the sports news, and since Mike Prisuta was not around, today was the day. He was a very nice, personable, down-to-earth guy. I could see why he's such a good recruiter. So I came on at about 9:20 AM and did a segment talking about JoePa's motorcycle auction, the Pirates' history of mediocre pitching, and Roger Clemens' Saturday start against the Buccos. Host Randy Baumann actually played the Paterno YouTube clip on the air, which had Bradley quietly shaking his head in disbelief.
