Huge giant jellyfish. Look at the diver, dwarf compare to the jellyfish.Encountered at Pulau Tioman, Malaysia:They are pelagic jellyfishes. Though they are big, there are harmless and has it's own sub ecosystem drifting around with it. News arrived on Wednesday (my apologies as I started writing this a couple of days ago, on the morning of the 21st Nov, but I was unable to post until now because I lost half of what I originally posted..) about the only salmon farm in Northern Ireland being wiped out by jellyfish last week. The (original) BBC article will follow with details. What is interesting is that of the online papers running this story in the UK at the moment (morning of 22nd November, not a single one has mentioned even in passing the environmental questions that really should be asked and indeed have a precedent to be asked. I will expand on this after you read one of the articles:

Maggie’s plane leaves in three hours, and a car is picking her up. For us, no awkward hugs in front of the metal detectors at the airport. Instead, I wait in the sun room like someone about to undergo day-long tests at the doctor’s. Flipping through a three-year-old National Geographic, I wonder if I’ll ever climb the Himalayas. A line of thought as grandiose as it is tenuous. Or wait—maybe not. Who’s to say I can’t enroll in rock climbing school once I flail out of this financial mess? I can hire a guide, join an expedition. I can begin again.

Jellyfish are marine invertebrates of the class Scyphozoa, and can be found in every oceans in the world. The body of an adult jellyfish consists of a bell shape producing jelly and enclosing its internal structure, from which tentacles are suspended.
