Jelly Belly & Cold Stone Join Forces to Make me Fat
In order to compensate for offering flavors like vomit, skunk spray, and rotten egg, Jelly Belly has swung all the way to the other side of the deliciousness scale with a co-branded offering along side Cold Stone Creamery. The new beans come in five flavors that any cream head will recognize: Chocolate Devotion, Birthday Cake Remix, Apple Pie a la Cold Stone, Our Strawberry Blonde, and Mint Mint

      Candy Review: Jelly Belly’s BeanBoozled
Eating is a very complicated pastime when you think about it. Depending on the situation it can be a very social thing: you could easily be sharing a dinner with friends, out for an afternoon coffee break with co-workers or hosting a potluck party with family. While it’s easy to make daily meals more social, [...]

Candy Review: Jelly Belly Smoothie Blend
Recent experiences have taught me a new golden rule of candy purchasing: candy on sale is not necessarily a good thing. Witness my purchase of a box of Jelly Belly jelly beans which cost less than a dollar - a dollar which I now wish I had back. The Smoothie Blend box consists of 5 [...]

      Jelly Belly Sours
I first encountered Jelly Belly jellybeans back in the day when I was a candy shop clerk. It was a small, old fashioned shop crammed floor to ceiling with every candy imaginable. We had a large Jelly Belly display and whenever I could, I'd sample a few. My favorite unusual flavour has got to be popcorn. Still, I'm a sucker for the sours! Although I've had Jelly Belly Sours before, I have never

Organic Chocolate and Natural Jelly Belly's
Are you sick of me talking about chocolate and candy yet? Well, there's still lots left to review.I just tried the Green & Black's Organic Dark Chocolate with Hazelnuts and Currants. The dark chocolate is yummy but I don't taste the hazelnuts and the currants are too sour for this combo. I'm not saying I wouldn't eat this chocolate if it was presented to me but it's not the one I would choose. So yes, I'm still going to finish this whole bar! (I feel justified since I ran the 15K Hot Chocolate Run this morning.)Next, exciting news! Jelly Belly now makes 10 flavors in a natural version. No artificial flavors or colors and no preservatives. They don't taste as good as my memory of regular jelly belly's (from before I developed an allergy to artificial food coloring) but hey it's natural. Strawberry is my favorite flavor and they're easy to bring on runs, just like Sport Beans. (If you're running in cold weather, they do get a little hard.) I'm waiting to see if more flav

Candy Review: Jelly Belly Licorice Bears
Jelly Belly recently sent us a free bag of their new Licorice Bears to review, and I had the pleasure of sampling the delicacy. At first blush, I thought these bears would be like the Katjes Kinder I previously reviewed and didn’t enjoy. They looked very hard, but I figured I should give it a try, at least. Luckily, looks can be deceiving. They were firm, certainly, but very easily eaten, with a texture that softened quickly and made them easy on the teeth and jaw. The flavor was nothing extraordinary; while very good, they are clearly of an American recipe and a similar flavor can be found in many current candies. They are very sweet and lack the earthiness of a molasses-sweetened licorice, yet they should still strongly appeal to those of us who grew up on traditional American licorice flavors, which are normally sweetened by corn syrup or sugar. All in all, these little bears won’t exactly usher in a new age in licorice, but they are certainly tasty. At $5 a bag, howeve

Easter Candy Review: Jelly Belly Malted Speckled Eggs
I never noticed that Jelly Belly made other candies for Easter besides their famous Jelly Beans. It was a pleasant surprise to see Foil Colored Eggs, Mellowecreme Mixes, and other Easter candies next to my favorite mixed bag of Jelly Beans. The Speckled Chocolate Malted Eggs looked especially tempting and next thing I knew I was unwrapping the bag for a taste outside the store. These are exactly as the name describes; chocolate malt balls but with a candy shell. The eggs are really pretty with the speckled shells colored white, yellow, green purple and pink. They’re quite large in size, bigger than any malt balls that I’ve ever had. I find it strange how adding a candy shell really changes the taste and dynamic of the malt balls. I don’t notice the chocolate much at all because of it. My attention is drawn more toward the shell and the interior. What surprised me is that the shell is lightly flavored depending on what color you’re eating. The white and yellow

      Jelly Belly Lollibeans Pops
Recently, Jelly Belly introduced a confection that I’ve been dying to try. Their Lollibeans Pops are lollipops (just in case the name didn’t give it away) shaped like their famous jellybeans and coming in a few of the same flavors. Among those that I’d love to try are watermelon, grape, and root beer, all of which are some of my favorite jellybean flavors. I’m disappointed they don’t have juicy pear, my all-time favorite, but I guess it would be a difficult texture to replicate in a hard candy. Unfortunately, they’re only available to “specialty retailers,” or in 96 count cases, which just isn’t going to happen. As much as I would love having boxes of lollipops taking up floor space in my apartment, I think I’d rather find another way to keep the mice happy. Attention all wannabe jellybean connoisseurs! Starting on January 22nd, Jelly Belly will run a contest where you can share your favorite Jelly Belly recipes for a chance to win a grand prize of $10,000. Instant win game pieces will also be included in specially-marked Jelly Belly bags. It’s a little early, so there’s not much info available on the contest besides what’s on the press release, but I’m wondering if they’ll allow the use of their special Harry Potter-themed Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans. See, I’ve got this great idea for Dirt, Grass, Earthworm, and Chocolate Pudding. I call it a Mud Pie.
