Politics makes for strange bedfellows. Edu-politics makes for surreal ones. Among the backers of the recently launched Education Equality Project are former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and the Rev. Al Sharpton. Launched a month ago by Sharpton and NYC Schools...
John McCain picked up another high profile endorsement, this one from the President's brother and former Governor of Florida, Jeb Bush.In a statement, Bush praised McCain as a “patriot and devoted conservative leader.” He added, “like no other candidate in the field, John McCain has made tremendous sacrifices for this nation. He is beholden to no interest other than that of the public good. He is determined and steadfast in his commitment to reducing the burden of high taxes, restoring the people’s trust in their government, and winning the war against radical Islamic extremists. It is with pride that I announce my endorsement of John McCain for president.”McCain has received some heat from conservatives who outright do not trust the Senator to represent their values (it makes yo
I have said before how petty and vindictive the left is. The following is a *perfect* example of that. Jeb Bush was nominated for an honorary degree from the University of Florida and was voted down on a 38-28 vote. When asked why one reason given was that he diluted educational resources by starting up 3 new medical colleges in the state while governor. What?! Of course he also got rid of race based admission quotas in the Florida university system too. Pretty typical behavior for self absorbed educational types. But immediately on the heels of this stick in the eye he was voted an Honorary Alumnus of the same Florida University. The difference between the two being the latter is decided by the alumnus rather than the faculty. Like I said, the left is incredibly petty and vindictive. ~RJH MSNBC story link Jeb Bush denied one honor, wins anotherGAINESVILLE, Fla. - Former Gov. This article had the following:
In deciding not to give Bush an honorary degree, some faculty members cited concerns about Bush’s educational record in respect to the university. Some said his approval of three new medical schools has diluted resources. He also has been criticized for his “One Florida” proposal, an initiative that ended race-based admissions programs at state universities
Doctors are in short supply. How do I know? Well, they're expensive which means they're in demand. I also know because many doctors in Los Angeles are from foreign countries and they obviously wouldn't go to a place where they weren't needed. And, far more people apply to medical school than can be accepted. Now, what happens when the supply of something goes up while demand remains constant? So, Jeb Bush is in a position to remedy the situation by expanding medical schools to increase supply and people complain.
And he wants to end race-based preferences. So, he's rejec
So Mr Natural Catastrophe decided to pay a visit to the Asian shores devastated by last week's tsunamis. Unlike his brother George, a master in manmade disasters, Jeb seems more interested in the destructions caused by Mother Nature. Anyway, the Governor of Florida feels like getting some international exposure. Wonder why ?Habemus papam folks ! Our Dear Compassionate Leader has found the next ruler for the Bush dynasty. Daddy Herb may call him "44" soon. Stephane MOT
