The 2nd KK Jazz Festival will be held at the newly-opened 1Borneo Hypermall on Saturday.From 6pm to midnight that evening, audiences can look forward to a thrilling night with fantastic performances by a range of talented musicians, such as SIA Jazz Syndicate, Gravity, Ian Baxter and Friends, Jazzmatazz, Greg Lyons, the ASEANA Percussion Unit, Xion Gi, and Paul Ponnudurai.

Several counters will be open in Miri in the next few days and during weekends to cater for the anticipated rush for the Miri International Jazz Festival tickets.
A counter will be open at the Coffee Bean Shell Lutong on April 22 and 24 and at Piasau Boat Club on April 25 while another counter will be open at Boulevard Hypermarket on May 1. The counters will be open from 9.30am onward.

Big news for midwestern jazz and fusion fans. Scott Henderson will be performing at the Detroit International Jazz Festival this Saturday September 1st at 6:45pm on the Chase Main Stage. This is a rare treat since Henderson doesn't come to the midwest very often. Medeski Scofield Martin & Wood will be there as well, hitting the same stage at 8:45pm. In fact, Medeski Scofield Martin & Wood will also be at the Chicago Jazz Festival the day before, Friday August 31st. I may be attending that show, not sure yet.

Cracking day out on Sunday, with most of Crewe seemingly in our neighbouring town. I even got to hear a couple of bands, from a distance! Every pub was packed and most of the streets connecting the various venues were awash with semi-drunk "music lovers". Indeed, I wonder what some of the performers make of it all, watching groups coming in and out en route to the next watering hole. Genuine Jazz aficionados must be horrified by the whole spectacle, as indeed many of the Nantwich residents must! Still, it seemed to pass off relatively peacefully - although we headed back to Crewe just after 9pm to enjoy some final drinks at home with friends without having to battle our way to a bar...
If you like Jazz (and you're in Auckland this Sat 17th Feb) there's a fantastic jazz festival on in Mission Bay. Starts around 6.30ish till late. Last years was fantastic - some amazing! talent (and good food), leave early as parking is pretty bad. Also on Sat and Sunday the Devonport Food and Wine Festival. Chet Baker image from.
