A few nights ago I was watching PBS again (no surprise by now I expect) and I caught another interesting concert event: James Taylor: One Man Band. The show was songs taken from the CD/DVD set of the same name that was released just last year. Now, I’m not a huge James [...]
One of the greatest vocalists of the last forty years lives in the Berkshire Hills of Massachusetts. James Taylor has made his creative mark on the industry for decades - but he is making some of the greatest music of his formidable career right now. Taylor appeared this summer at Tanglewood and by all accounts it was magical.Taylor's newest release - One Man Band is a profoundly intimate performance during a very special evening at Pittsfield, MA's beautiful Capitol Theatre near his home. The collection which is now available in stores contains a whopping 19-tracks (old favorites and new songs - like "Mean Old Man" - hold their own against the Taylor classics). The CD is accompanied by an impressive two-hour DVD allowing Taylor to guide audiences through live performances, photographs and decades of memories. The package is a must have - and a fantastic gift for difficult to buy for music fans during this holiday season. The set begins with a classic!James Taylor - Something In the
By CLS, So. Cal. I saw James Taylor play Saturday night in Las Vegas. His performance had zero pretense, just an honest simplicity, and the purity that for forty years has been the heart of his music. The show was wonderful and I was having a good time and then, with the opening notes of his song, "You've got a friend", I became choked up with a wave of emotion. As the strains of the music progressed, and JT's clear voice sang the words of this beautiful ballad, so many years, and events, flashed through my mind as the tears burned my eyes. Watershed moments in time passed through this song. But, surprisingly, it was the image of a little dog who had died just two days earlier, that triggered my surprise tears. My friend's dog, Roxy was a tiny dog..But she had a presence. A presence that could fill the room, a heart as big as her huge attitude, and a sublime sense of humor. Simply put, she touched everyone who knew her with her amazing spirit. She made people h
A számok:01 - With A Little Help From My Friends02 - Long Ago and Far Away03 - Something in the Way She Moves04 - Blossom05 - snuff advertisement06 - Greensleeves07 - Sunny Skies08 - Diamond Joe09 - Coca Cola jingle10 - Carolina in My Mind11 - Riding on a Railroad12 - Fire and Rain13 - Highway Song14 - Lo and Behold15 - Machinegun Kelly16 - Hey Mr. That's Me Up on the Jukebox17 - Steamroller Blues18 - Night Owl
Number 820James Taylor"Carolina"(1968)Genre:Singer / SongwriterVietnam was mayhem and chaos, it threw a country into self turmoil and rebellion, music back then in '68 was radical and loud. Then along comes James Taylor with his accoustic guitar, singing love, peace and loss, while his voice you could swear, was singing to your soul rather than your ears.In todays terms i guess its the equvillant to James Blunt and the phony terrorist war/Iraq scene. (I am starting to believe we are really in the "Matrix")For James Taylor excellent bio click this link... James Taylor (for the abridged read below)"When people use the term "singer/songwriter" (often modified by the word "sensitive") in praise or in criticism, they're thinking of James Taylor. In the early '70s, when he appeared with his introspective songs, acoustic guitar, and calm, understated singing style, he mirrored a generation's emotional exhaustion after tumultuous times. Just as Bing Crosby's reassuring voice brought the co
