Skyline of Jaipur will soon change with the new real estate developments coming on the way on the back of new norms. The state government has removed the ban restricting the height of a building to 30 metres. According to the new format, the height of the buildings can be 1.5 times the width of the road running in front of the building.
The new format will cater to the increasing demand for residential property in Jaipur. So far, the city has witnessed large horizontal growth. Since, there is a lack of open spaces in the city limits; the government has decided to increase the height of the buildings without disturbing the basic town planning, says Pratap Singh Singhavi, Rajasthan minister for urban development.
The new format allows the builders to build a 15 storey building on a 100 feet connecting road, a 22-storey building on a 120 feet road, 28 storeys on 160 feet and 40-storey building on 200-feet road. A dozen of such skyscrapers are to come in Jaipur.

At work, our team had its monthly Luncheon yesterday. Instead of going somewhere for the usual Chicken Parmagiana or Steak and Chips, someone suggested we should try an Indian restaurant for a change. Especially considering half our team are Indian.
The place recommended to us was Jaipur Curry Bar, a narrow fronted place at the top of Bourke St, opposite the Hard Rock Cafe. It's easy to spot though, with the brightly coloured beads dangling in the window - and the other two curry places right beside it.
We had a booking for 12:15, and were told to be prompt. Two of the guys went ahead early, to secure our seats.
