My girls, Caroline, 8 and Gracie 2, and I went to see the Liz Claiborne show at Dillard's in Jacksonville, Florida. We arrived very early to see where everything was set up and to get good seats. Everyone who was there was soooo nice. My girls and I were taking it all in and I looked up and saw Tim Gunn himself arriving! I did a loud, involutary gasp when I saw him. It was loud enough for all to hear and people laughed and Tim came right over to us. I introduced myself as a field reporter for BPR and he said how nice you were and how much he loved you and I agreed! I told him I'd love a picture of him with my girls later and he said, "Well, let's do it right now!" He was so nice and so genuine and so sincere. When I told him that I was "thrilled to meet you!" he said, "I'm thrille
Hi BPR! Love your website! I wanted to give you a different perspective on Tim Gunn's visit to Jacksonville, FL. I am an Operations Engineer at First Coast News in Jacksonville (and a HUGE Project Runway fan!) I was running audio for our morning show this morning where Tim Gunn appeared. My 17-year-old daughter, Christie, also is a huge fan, and came in to work with me this morning hoping to see and meet Tim. Well, not only did she get to see and meet him, but she told him her mom (me!) was the audio engineer and couldn't get down to the studio, so he said, "Well, let's go upstairs and see her!" And he did!! He trooped upstairs to the Engineering section and greeted everyone, came into the audio booth and shook my hand and we spoke for a few minutes (until I had to open a mic.) He was as

Two teams that seem to play the same way, and oddly enough have the same record, will do battle in Pittsburgh Sunday when the AFC North leading Steelers take on the wild card leading Jaguars in a key AFC battle. The Steelers have lost their last two vs the Jags, including last seasons ugly 9-0 loss on a Monday night early in the season where the Jags made a pretty big statement with their shutout win over Big Ben and the Steelers.
Now though the venue has changed, and while sometimes it’s not been pretty, the Steelers have flat out been very good at home, winning the close games (Browns, Dolphins) and even the blowouts (49′ers, Seahawks). Sunday promises to be another physical game with both teams coming out and trying to impose their will, and it will be interesting to see simply what team wants it more.
The Steelers were blown out last week in New England, but should be back to form this week, and will have active safety Troy Polamalu back in the secondary making pla

Last season, the Jacksonville Jaguars lost the season series to Houston Texans 2-0; it could possibly speak volumes on the improvement of the Texans - or maybe not. Regardless, the two teams lock up on Sunday in a key divisional matchup in which the Jaguars hope to win four in a row for the first time in 2 years.
The Texans have work to do on their running attack (85.8 yards per game - 25th overall); leading the way lately has been running back Ron Dayne (62 rushes, 179 yards, 1 touchdown). The status of starting RB Ahman Green (knee) in uncertain but is listed as questionable for this weekend. Quarterback Matt Schaub (111-of-157, 1,299 yards, 5 TD’s, 4 INT’s) is what makes this offense go. Joining him in the offesnive display is tight end Owen Daniels (24 catches, 293 yards) and wide receiver Andre Davis (13-266-1 TD). The improving defense is led by linebacker DeMeco Ryans (42 tackles, 37 solo, 1 sack), and two of the better young defensive lineman in the league tod
Jacksonville, Florida health insurance examination continuesLetters from readers......Every candidate of this years presidential election seems to be offering a program for Universal Health Care. Why does that seem to be the main topic of this years campaign? The latest report from the Census Bureau said that 16 percent of Americans do not have health care coverage, which means that 84 percent do. But, the report also stated that the 45 percent of "Americans" who do not have coverage are "noncitizens," i.e., not Americans. So, actually, about 91 percent of Americans have health care coverage. Of the remaining 9 percent, the report stated that most are young people who choose not to have coverage. Where's the crisis? Our politicians should be focusing on a plan that will cover the small number of uninsured Americans who want coverage but can't afford it. They should not try to create a new government-run program that we will all be forced to participate in at tremendous expense. SCOT

Jacksonville Florida Health Insurance program Jax Care is considering its options in a new operating environment created by two decisions in Tallahassee that could bring an end to its health plan. JaxCare, a nonprofit that offers a health plan for the working poor and is also developing a health information network through a federal grant, suspended enrollment in its health plan, effective July 1. The health plan is designed for the low-wage, working uninsured. It aims to fill the gap for employees who make too much money to qualify for state health programs but can't afford health-insurance premiums. In 2003, the city earmarked $2.5 million for JaxCare to pay for physician care, medicines and medical management for those enrolled in the health plan. Since then JaxCare has drawn down about $1.85 million, with $350,000 set aside for reserves, and provided insurance for almost 1,500 people. The city, facing a dramatic reduction in property tax revenues imposed by the state Legislature

Attention to AFC South Wide Receivers: There will be a new “KNIGHT” Watch coming to the middle of the field near you. The Jaguars have signed free agent strong safety Sammy Knight, adding a vet to the squad’s group of youngsters at the safety spot. Jacksonville will add a “Knight” to its already dynamite defense, expecting to bolster its secondary, upgrading it from “harmless” to “armored” by picking up this hard-hitting defensive back, that will have WR’s make sure they put on a hard hit when Knight roams the field, accompanied with a huge knockout that will bring the pass catcher to the turf.
Teams will keep an eye on this safety who packs more than just his gear every Sunday and receviers will know he is there when they hear his footsteps. “Smart, tough, veteran safety; he’ll get a chance to compete for a backup role,” head coach Jack Del Rio said of Knight, who at 6-foot, 205 pounds, will enter his 11t
