Since Isaiah Washington was canned from Gray’s Anatomy he has appeared numerous times venting about his situation. Now he apparently is happy that T.R. Knight was nominated for an Emmy. (Yeah right)
“Do you think he benefited from this dust up?” Billy asked Isaiah over Knight’s nomination in an interview with Access Hollywood.
“T.R. Knight is a good actor. He has been a wonderful actor from day one,” Isaiah said. “T.R. Knight, congratulations. He finally got the attention he deserved. Whether or not it serves any particular agenda that he’s nominated now, to make a point, I can’t speak on that. That’s theoretical. The speculation is over: After a controversial season, Isaiah Washington will not be returning to Grey’s Anatomy, his rep and ABC Television Studio have confirmed.
Howard Bragman, Washington’s publicist, says Washington’s option was not renewed, and released this statement from the actor: “I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it any more.”
Bragman did not elaborate on the statement, a reference to the 1976 film Network.
The cast was notified Thursday night of the final decision, which, says a source close to the situation, was a long time coming. In the end, the source says, Washington’s behavior made him a liability.

In response to mounting pressure and an earlier statement released by ABC, Grey's Anatomy star, Isaiah Washington has formally issued an apology following his remarks after the Golden Globes.
"I apologize to T.R., my colleagues, the fans of the show and especially the lesbian and gay community for using a word that is unacceptable in any context or circumstance. By repeating the word Monday night, I marred what should have been a perfect night for everyone who works on Grey's Anatomy. I can neither defend nor explain my behavior. I can also no longer deny to myself that there are issues I obviously need to examine within my own soul, and I've asked for help.
I know the power of words, especially those that demean. I realize that by using one filled with disrespect I have hurt more than T.R. and my colleagues. With one word, I've hurt everyone who has struggled for the respect so many of us take for granted. I welcome the chance to meet with leaders of the gay and lesbian

The latest news in the debacle, reports TV Guide, is Washington's dismissal of his longtime publicist Cynthia Snyder and hiring of Allen Mayer and Kelly Mullens, who reportedly specialize in crisis management. Mayer has put out fires for the likes of R. Kelly, Tommy Lee and Paula Poundstone, reports TMZ.
Meanwhile, a number of TV critics and gay media Web sites are calling on ABC to fire the "Grey's Anatomy" star for using the word "faggot" in reference to gay co-star T.R. Knight, reports the Los Angeles Times. Activist groups are also wondering aloud why the show's African American creator, Shonda Rhimes, has not done more to diffuse the situation.

This seems like a stupid public relations move that diminishes the seriousness of seeking treatment for the abuses of alcohol and drugs and such. Through Halle Berry's disastrous marriage to Eric Benet, we learned about the "need" for treatment for sexual addiction to women other than his wife. Mama would have a name for that -- and the Scriptures to back her up! Not to mention something to knock him in the head or whip his butt! There are legitimate reasons to seek treatment, but too often these folks in the public eye seem to equate "I'm going into therapy" with cleaning up their public images.
