Track Zimbabwe Human Rights using the Interweb
Matt Wardman has followed up on my post, Mugabe, al-Qaida links alleged and very helpfully reviewed Zimbabwean information sources from my list. NB: these are all 'civil society' sources, there's also a host of expat media sources. Here's the media sources which Robb Ellis (aka 'the bearded man') uses:All Africa News (Zimbabwe)Financial GazetteJan Lamprecht's 'African Crisis' SiteIRIN News (Zimbab

      Killing Time On The Interweb

Waffle iron takes you to the interweb
There's no end to incorporating interweb humor into your daily intake, and breakfast is no exception. Bringing a new meaning to "finger food", the typewriter iron features minimal modification for morning waffles. The appliance was created by Chris Dimino for a School of Visual Arts exhibit. While many of us computer addicts claim we could eat off of our collected keyboard crumbs, this one may be more filling. So butter up that (key)board and satisfy yourself with some syrup spillage, as this is the only one that won't have a sticky shift key the next day.tags technorati : iron keyboard typewriter waffle

      Interweb art penetrates public space
Proposing to join the real world with the "www" to create a psycho-geographic experience, Ideas On Air wants to rename streets with Net-Art web addresses. Equipped with paper and glue, the high-tech experiment would paste street plates with web addresses."It’d be better to cover the streets (maybe, comfortably by the taxi) with a pc equipped of wireless device to watch the websites. Anyway, you’d also walk on the streets watching at the Net-Art web address and subsequently to see the relative websites."tags technorati : digital metro urban www

      an interweb rumor worth attention?
yeah, there have been tons of rumors over the past few years of the impending resignation of darth, excuse me, dick cheney. usually, someone quasi-sane as myself would disregard these interweb rumors as wishful thinking, be they proffered by dreaming liberals or some disillusioned condi-as-vp nutjobs. but this time, it's neither of these. it's the reserved speculation of the op-ed page of the Washington Post. that makes me pay a tiny, wee bit of attention:"However beleaguered, Cheney will not resign over the president's refusal to take his advice. The only force that could drive him to that dramatic step would be that unshakable sense of loyalty to Bush, who desperately now needs a vice president in stable physical, emotional and political health. That is the equation you want to be watching." it's also made the far-right bush apologists at Newsmax bring up the old condi switcheroo again. anyway, it's probably near impossible the the vp will step down, but with the president's a

      Interweb continues inside jokes
Continuing the interweb snickering for those in-the-know, Sean Hubbard adds to the existing 'web' of common experiences. As seen last month in various image-stricken pockets of New York, the broken-image icon is now making a debut on stamps, or at least that's the hope. Inspired by the urbanscaping, Hubbard went DIY, creating stickers for the icon and eventually moving them to his mail. It's a shame that this comes after Valentine's Day, as I'm sure this could've generated a few VDay 2.0 e-cards between fellow interwebers.[via]
