If you can still remember, I have posted about my daughter’s communication problem. I was worried because she is already 3 years old; however, she wasn’t talking yet. She could read sentences, but she was not communicating with us. As a mother, I was and always am worried about her development. In order to alleviate my worries, I came up with an idea to send her to a daycare center. I thought

As always, it’s these odd conjunctions of things that don’t go together that catches the eye. In this case, molecular and sociology. The actual article1 is much more mundane and true to the correct science jargon, and included in a special section of the most recent Nature on “Proteins to Proteomes.” It’s also a nice article that examines a broad array of topics in molecular biology.
Of greater interest and with a slightly less catchy title, is another article on the section: Reaching for high-hanging fruit in drug discovery at protein-protein interfaces2. The abstract: (more…)

The overall employee and employer interaction exceeds the usual human to human interactions because of illustrative as well as hidden stakes of both parties. Each party certainly protects his / her own interest that will ultimately result in survival of their respective interest. However, the stakes are not equal; employees can find a new job and easily adapt to the new duties. On the other hand, the organizational consequences of the employer are slightly more complex. The mere complexity in replacing particular employee and respective cost alone tips the employer and employee relationship toward employee benefits. Nevertheless, it is important to emphasize that there are many factors that can the sting / advantage out of the dynamic. Employers can correct this equation by increasing the stakes of employees from a job to actual stakeholders by offering incentives that would increase the organizational value as well as employee wealth. Ultimately, regardless of the interactions or
During my daily wander through my Google reader I went of on a tangent and ended up discovering some super-cool, interactive technology.
To backtrack a little…I saw a mention of the upcoming ‘leweb3’ conference taking place on December 07 in one of the world's most appealing cities (well in my opinion at least)...Paris!
Whilst checking out the official website www.leweb3.com I spotted that vpod.tv - a French ‘video publishing on demand’ site, which encourages users to create their own TV channels, was an organisational partner and clicked off in that direction.
Once I had watched a few “arb” clips which were listed in the ‘most rated section’, I finally found a clip which I rated and decided to go forth and share my findings - a crucial element in the viral marketing process.

We like nothing better here at e-Potpourri than chairs and seating furnishings that serve not only what is, ultimately a fairly mundane function, but that do so in either a particularly innovative or overtly unique way – preferably both – and this dual chair known as the Tete-a-Tete Rocker most certainly ticks both boxes.
Designed by Laurie Beckerman, the Tete-a-Tete Rocker offers a face to face single solution seating solution for those unafraid of social interaction and we don’t doubt will prove to coax conversation from any two individual seated.
And, as if to underline the connection between individuals promoted – if not overtly enforced – by this novel seating, the Tete-a-Tete is also rockable, further enhancing interaction.
Measuring in at 2’ 6” in height by 5’ 0” in length by 3’ 6” in width, the Tete-a-Tete Rocker is manufactured by Evans & Paul – a certified fabricator of Dupont Corian.
Pricing is available on enquiry from Laurie Beckerman Design.

Berkshire is running this experimental launch with their friends from UK-based Exact Editions. Taking and giving information from surrounding ecosystems, an installation creates awareness among users of their immediate environment. Called HouseSwarming, the "environment-sensing device" was created for an Art Center presentation. Designed by Jenna Didier, Oliver Hess and Marcos Lutyens, their site for the display explains how it works:"During the day, the “swarm” of green ambiguous forms, both biomorphic and geometric, accentuates the South Campus’s main entry. At twilight, the swarm comes to life, telling visitors and passersby about the current air quality around the building. Electronic sensors perceive air contaminants – such as tobacco, benzene, carbon monoxide, even perfume – and separately inform the outside and inside swarms, which sets off signals. These signals are interpreted as changes to the natural rhythm that the network has established based on the number and distribution of nodes connected to the cable net. What does securing a business deal, establishing a friendship, or chatting online, have in common? They may be actions of different nature, but these actions involve social interaction.Interaction takes place in one-to-one or group conversations. As long as there is a verbal communication between different parties, the act of interacting will be present. Sadly, some instances associated with interacting can consequently turn into a discriminative issue. Let us view the sociological perspectives that encompass interaction among people.Functionalist PerspectiveFunctionalist perspective talks about whether an intentional or unintentional action taken by someone or a group of people can benefit or destroy the well being of the society, globally or within the nation. Interaction between people can serve as a function or dysfunction. An example that depicts the interaction becoming a function is when two or groups of people of different racial backgrounds are sharing ideas or giving suggestio

ITIL Service Support Process Interaction DiagramI have been putting ITIL V2 Service Support info here for some time, sabotaging the fact that V3 is out there for more then a month. In the meantime I visited a local ITSMF conference with ITIL V3 presented by Vernon Lloyd and David Wheeldon. I got the books with nautilus, peas, starfish X-ray design covers. They are stashed near my bedpost, efficiently putting me to sleep almost every night for some time. Besides, much is said about V3 recently on the Net and I was constantly lacking time for V3, since I had to prepare for my ITIL Service Manager exam. Now I will have some spare time to dedicate to V3, and I will put here my observations in near future, while I am still fresh with ITIL ITSM data.To wrap this Service Support series of articles I am giving you my CMAP diagram of process interaction, very simplified and adjusted to my level of complexity tolerance.Mind mapping is nice and all, it works for some people more then for the other
Comtaste Consulting have an interesting post on creating an ObjectManager to improve the Flex interaction with AJAX (Asynchronous Javascript And XML) or JavaScript where they evoke different issues and limits to access Flex from JavaScript. In the post, Francesco recommended using Flex Ajax Bridge, which is included in Adobe LiveCycle Data Services 2.5, allowing to make your ActionScript classes available to JavaScript without any additional coding.
While the functionalities offered by the External Interface class of the Flash Player can solve the easiest cases of ActionScript/JavaScript interaction, it is advisable to use the FABridge (Flex Ajax Bridge) in the most complex situations, in presence of user-defined classes or when we should define an interface to make JavaScript dialog with ActionScript and vice-versa.
There is still a problem you could face in both cases (with FABridge or ExternalInterface), if you try to access Flex component just after html(link) onload event is fir

Have a look at the Keepon Interaction Robot , Hideki Kozima developed it and Marek Michalowski gave it intelligence. It looks simple at first until you realize that it has two color cameras, a microphone and an amazing range of motion.
Video after the jump.
“Keepon has a yellow snowman-like body. The upper part (the “head”) has two eyes, each of which is a color CCD camera with a wide-angle lens (120 degrees horizontally), and a nose, which is actually a microphone. The lower part (the “belly”) has a small gimbal and four wires, by which the body is manipulated like a marionette; four motors and two circuit boards (a PID controller and a motor driver) are installed in the black cylinder. Since the body is made of silicone rubber and its inside is relatively hollow, Keepon’s head and belly deform whenever it changes posture and when someone touches it.
This simple body has four degrees of freedom: nodding (tilt) within +/-40 degrees, shaking (pan

Then these might just be for you. I’m mentioning these glasses for two reasons. First off they are in line with something many people have been waiting for for some time now. Bringing us one step closer to a personal portable theater system the glasses replicate the viewing experience of sitting 2meters away from a 35″ TV.
They also can plug into an iPod, Zune, or any other device with composite outs. Yeah, they’re a bit pricey and won’t turn up in your local retailers (except maybe Sharper Image) but there are certainly some gadget junkies out there who’ll enjoy them.
