This precondition is evidenced by any of the following: a) light, disrupted sleep that one is still fatigued upon waking up, b) not being able to sleep, even if exhausted, c) lack of sleeping hours. Although this circumstance is usually temporary, insomnia may be categorized based on the duration of time it has affected the patient. * Transient Insomnia - This condition remains only for a few days. InsomniaInsomnia is a condition in which you have trouble falling or staying asleep. While insomnia can be a sign of a physical disorder for most people it is an effect of bad habits, stress, tension and anxiety.Insomnia also can limit the energy you have to spend with friends or family. Insomnia can be mild to severe depending on how often it occurs and for how long. Insomnia that lasts for less time is known as short-term or acute insomnia. Insomniacs have been known to complain about being unable to close their eyes or "rest their mind" for more than a few minutes at a time. This is where Hypnotherapy and Self-Hypnosis can really help the insomniac as it allows you to quiet your mind and relax your body. An anxious mind suddenly relaxed is a great feeling and allows for increased quality
In addition to being a risk factor for a depressive episode, persistent insomnia may perpetuate the illness in some elderly patients, and especially in those receiving standard care for depression in primary care settings, according to a study published in the April 1 issue of the journal SLEEP. The study, authored by Wilfred R. Pigeon, PhD, assistant professor of psychiatry at the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, New York, focused on 1,801 elderly patients (60 years of age or older) with major depressive disorder and/or dysthymia who completed a prior clinical trial for treating depression called Project IMPACT. Dr Pigeon's study assigned those same subjects to an insomnia status group: persistent, intermediate, and no insomnia, based on insomnia scores at both baselin

The study, conducted by Jules Angst, MD, of Zurich University Psychiatric Hospital in Switzerland, focused on 591 young adults, whose psychiatric, physical, and sleep symptoms were assessed with six interviews spanning 20 years. Four duration-based subtypes of insomnia were distinguished: one-month insomnia associated with significant distress, two-to-three-week insomnia, recurrent brief insomnia, and occasional brief insomnia. According to the results, the annual prevalence of one-month insomnia increased gradually over time, with a cumulative prevalence rate of 20 percent and a greater than two-fold risk among women. Usually there are reasons, however, however strange and seemingly unrelated they may be. One of these reasons can be stress. Todays modern world can be full of stress, from that which comes to us from our careers, and that imposed on us from our families or financial situations. Much of this stress however, is

In search of refreshing sleep in spite of arthritis pain. For people with arthritis, pain and sleep disturbance can form a vicious circle. The solution may be better pain management paired with improved sleep habits. If arthritis is standing between you and a good night's sleep, you're not alone. 72% of people with arthritis have trouble falling asleep, wake up frequently during the night, or awaken too early and can't get back to sleep. They get less than the seven to nine hours that most people need to feel refreshed, and not enough of the deep sleep that restores energy. Getting regular, restful sleep is important for everyone, but the stakes are higher for people with arthritis. A well rested brain sends an inhibitory message to the body to keep pain in check. Insomnia is a condition many people suffer with. People with insomnia lack the ability to get a sufficient amount of sleep. People with insomnia either can not fall asleep easily, have a hard time remaining asleep, or awakening too early.
Causes of insomnia may be linked to anxiety, overeating, too much caffeine, or constipation to name a few.
Here are some home remedies found to possibly help people with insomnia.
Drink a glass of milk sweetened with honey each night at bedtime.
Eat lettuce or prepare a drink by boiling lettuce seeds in water.
Take about two teaspoons of honey with a large glass of water.
I have suffered from insomnia for my entire life. From the time I learned to walk, until age 6, I was a sleepwalker. The sleepwalking gave way to chronic insomnia. It’s one of those things I have just gotten used to. On average I get about 5-6 hours of sleep a night, but that is often restless sleep punctuated by occasional night terrors. When I am in production, I will sometimes get only 3-4 hours sleep. I flat-out refuse to take sleeping pills, but I am always welcome to new, external techniques to help me sleep.
Scent to Sleep promises an end to insomnia with their linen sprays. I tried out the Luscious Lavender scent (it is also available in Decadent Green Apple Vanilla). I have long been aware of the relaxing properties of lavender, but often find the scent to be overwhelming. The Luscious Lavender spray does not suffer from this. It is mild, blended with peppermint oil, and not overpowering.
It smelled nice, but I don’t think it is going to cure my insomnia

Progressive muscle relaxation is a technique that is used to tighten a certain group of muscles and then induce a relaxation stage afterwards that can reduce the overall tension in your body as you progress through the process. Individually, they are known to be contributing factors towards sleep deprivation that people experience today. But together, a person can just imagine the impact and discomfort that they can make.
Insomnia is a symptom not a separate disorder. A complaint of this needs a clinician to inquire further to disclose the underlying etiology of the complainant. I woke up at 3.30am today. An annoyance, sure, but usually not a problem. Except that this time I couldn't get back to sleep. At all. At about 5 I resorted to a session on the internet in the hope of tiredness setting in and did manage to doze a bit after that, but my alarm goes off at 6 so I wasn't exactly rested. I don't manage to haul myself out of bed for 45 minutes at the best of times, and I really didn't want to get up this morning. Left work at about 3.30 this afternoon because I was falling asleep at my desk but I couldn't even manage a catch up doze when I got home. By: Elmo Kandel When you think of insomnia you're thinking of someone who can't sleep for a reasonable amount of time. A typical complaint from an insomniac is not being able to close their eyes or rest their mind for over a few minutes at a time. There are many reasons for this ranging from anxiety to bipolar disorder. Yet sometimes there's no real causes and can just happen for any given reason, but too much activity and physical pain can be causes for someone not to be sleeping at night.Finding the underlying causes is key to finding a cure for this problem. It's also been found that not eating has contributed to someone not sleeping. There are 3 types of insomnia and they are transient insomnia which lasts anywhere from a single night to several weeks, acute insomnia is the inability to sleep well for a single period of 3 weeks to up to 6 months, and chronic is deemed the most serious where it's happening nightly for at least a month or longer. There are options to treat insomn
By: Dexter Dickinson Everyone has an occasional night of bad sleep. For most people, insomnia lasts only a few days and goes away without treatment. However, factors such as stress can cause a higher level of insomnia that may last for several weeks or longer. This kind of insomnia may not go away on its own, and can lead to both short- and long-term health problems if left untreated.Insomnia is becoming an increasingly common complaint which currently affects more than a third of all adults."Until last year I would have done almost anything to solve my sleep problems. For most of my life I had been 'one of those persons' cursed with insomnia and troubled sleep." says Yan Muckle, an author of two books and numerous health-related feature magazine articles who developed the SleepTracks Sleep Optimization Program™. Insomnia is the perception by patients that their sleep is inadequate or abnormal. Insomnia may affect as many as 69% of adult primary care patients. The incidence of sleep problems increases with age. Younger persons are apt to have trouble falling asleep, whereas older persons tend to have prolonged awakenings during the night.
Causes of insomnia
Situational stress concerning job loss or problems often disrupt sleep. Patients under stress may experience interference with sleep onset and early morning awakening. Attempting to sleep in a new place, changes in time zones, or changing bedtimes due to shift work may interfere with sleep.
Drugs associated with insomnia include antihypertensives, caffeine, diuretics, oral contraceptives, phenytoin, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, protriptyline, corticosteroids, stimulants, theophylline, and thyroid hormone.

Lately I have been noticing a problem Eli has been having. I will call it Toddler Insomnia because I am not sure what else it could be. Eli goes to be around 7:30 - 8pm each night and has been waking up at 2:48am each morning for quite some time. Usually all you have to do is go into his room, give him a kiss and tell him to go sleepy and he does, but lately it has gotten to the point that he is fully awake, playing with toys in his bed and calling for either Jodi or I.
We go in, which is probably the wrong thing to do. He is literally fully awake and ready for the day. I sing songs with him, tell him stories until I see that he is getting tired. I give him a kiss, tell him to have sweet dreams and leave his room. Usually within five or ten minutes he is fast asleep again, of course, this tends to give Daddy insomnia and I watch Jodi sleep until 5am when I finally doze off. Then I get up at 6:30 and have to be a zombie all day.
So I am wondering what can be the cause of this behavior.

Hyperthyroidism can be described as acute diseases which can be easily characterized by sudden weight gain and feeling of constant fatigue. This is a kind of disease which mostly affects people in their old age. However it has also been observed that a larger ratio of women is more prone to be suffering from hyperthyroidism rather than men.
It is a startling fact to know that even after thousands of women are diagnosed with hyperthyroidism every year, very few of them are actually aware of what the disease is about, where the thyroid glands are located in their anatomy and the exact cause of their malfunctioning. Thyroid is one of the principle components which are responsible for the regulation of metabolism in the endocrine system. This gland is situated at the base of the throat. Hyperthyroidism is a kind of thyroid disease which occurs when the antibodies present in a human’s body start attacking the thyroid gland and cause it to secrete excessive amount of hormones. photo by MontanaRavenLately at my house we have been going to bed earlier because getting up earlier in the cold, dark mornings of fall seems so impossible. Tonight we turned the lights off at 10:00 which is pretty early, especially for a Friday night! However my mind was tired and I LOVE sleeping so I don't mind. The last little while I have been having problems falling asleep. This has never been the case before. I used to be able to fall asleep anywhere at any time of day. Lately, when I lay down to fall asleep, I feel like I have restless leg syndrome, only its in my legs and my neck and my arms, etc. I can't get comfortable and after 30 seconds in one position I desperately have to rotate because my body is just itching to move. Previously this behavior would continue for a couple hours until sleep finally came over me, but its a horrible battle. Tonight, I got so tired of it I just got out of bed and decided to do something more productive until I got really tired.I was doing re

The rate of occurrence of insomnia which is another sleep disorder is about 9%. It is classified under the category known to be habitual sleeplessness. The most important criteria is the difficulty in sleeping. At the same time there also persists difficulty in staying asleep. There would be absence of sleep for the entire night for many days and could even range to about one month or more. Insomnia itself can be considered to be the symptom of any underlying cause. The duration could vary such as days, weeks, months or even years. The symptoms related to insomnia are substance abuse, worry, stress, anxiety, sedentary lifestyle, psychological problems, behavioral or environment factors and nutritional deficiency.Due to fatigue, accidents or even reduced productivity could result i
Insomnia symptoms are not distinctive, though the chances of occurrence are high if you experience all or most of them at the same time. Feeling tired and sleepy during the day is an important and possible sign of insomnia. This can also happen after an especially stressful day, or if you have had an especially calorific lunch. However, you should suspect that something is wrong, if you notice a pattern of tiredness right from the moment of awakening, on a regular basis. You should know that high blood sugar or a hormonal deficiency can also produce similar symptoms, so do not jump to a conclusion about insomnia without checking things with your doctor.Your partner or spouse can provide hints of your possible insomnia, by telling your doctor and you about your sleep behavior. Loud snoring, repeated awakening, and restlessness, could be signs of insomnia, of which you are not fully aware once you get out of bed. However, you will know if you lie awake for any length of time, or if you ha
I would hate to have phone sex with someone I didn't know for fear they might have a heart attack during said p-sex. If I didn't know their address, what would I say, "Cough your address and I'll call 911?"There's no way I could just hang up and say, "Good luck ta'ya." If they died. Oy vey, the guilt would kill me. I suppose if it was post orgasm, it would diminish the guilt. I'm just speculating. Reaching? Semantics...
I think I've not had a good night's sleep for the past few months. I tend to wake up in the middle of the night and knowing its only 3 am. Could it be signs of depression?According to Michael Perlis, director of University of Rochester Sleep & Neurophysiology Research Laboratory, "Insomnia can be a major contribution to depression." In his first 1st study of 147 healthy elderly people, women who woke up often during the night were about 6 times more likely to become depressed than those who slept well. For the 2nd study, 1221 elderly people being treated with depression, those with insomnia were about 12 times more likely to still be depressed 6 months later than those who slept well. The researchers are still conducting whether treating insomnia, could also treat depression. In the meantime, if you are worried about persistent sleeping problems, like I do, consult your doctor.
I have heard from many of my known people that at times they tend to suffer many nights with without sleep. I read this article in Today News Paper (Free daily in Singapore) and here is it for you to know. Insomnia is the cause for this and the factors are irregular bedtimes or changes in one's lifestyle.Remove underlying causes. The main approach to treat insomnia is to remove the underlying cause. Hence, assessment of insomnia needs to be thorough so that all possible causes both physical and psychological are uncovered. Medical treatments can vary depending on the condition. Some physical ailments can be treated with medication. Others may require surgery.Relax. Try relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, muscle relaxation, meditation, listening to soothing music and stopping work-related activities two hours before bedtime.Review the sleep habits and conditions that promote sleep. Have a regular sleeping and rising time, avoid naps during the day and keep your bedroom peacef

Tuition
Today Valerie came to my house for tuition. For a few days I was sick and had not done much work. Last Friday, Valerie’s mother called me. She wanted me to give tuition to her daughter. I accepted her request only if Valerie comes to my house.
This is a picture of Cebest, another picture that I had found in one of my CDs.
Cebest
Last night, I had a rather good dream. I dreamed of hugging Cebest. Cebest was on my body. I could not remember the details. However, I remember the moment I saw him, it was so surprised and so real, and so nice. Nevertheless, it was a weird dream. I dreamed of my ex-boss too. I did not like that. If that part was not in my dream, then dreaming of Cebest would be a sweet dream last night.

No it’s not a new dark Flash. It’s 1.16 AM in the UK and I’m still awake.
This is not due to any great plan but in fact because a house further down the street has a mains operated alarm that has been going off constantly for the last 3 hours. Our erstwhile Police force refuse to come out because no one is in danger and the council only operate office ours.
The owner is AWOL.
Which is a good thing because if I catch them…
Anyway here’s a dog with a possessed leg. Why? Just because:
Insomniacs may not only toss and turn all night -- their symptoms may be worsened by a constant need to get up and urinate, Danish researchers reported on Wednesday.
Tests on 20 people who were deliberately deprived of sleep produced more urine at night, and it was saltier than usual, the researchers said. The effects were much stronger in men than in women.

Insomnia's effects may depend on just when a person prefers to hit the sack.According to new research, "night owls" suffer more from insomnia than those who try and get their z's earlier on.AdvertisementNight owls also tended to be more concerned about their insomnia than the early-to-bed folks, despite the fact that they actually spent relatively more time in bed and got more sleep overall, the researchers found."We suspected that there may be more severe symptoms among night owl insomniacs," said the lead author, Jason C. Ong, an instructor of psychiatry in the Sleep Disorders Clinic at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California."But we also found they exhibited much more distress about their sleep, in terms of attitude. They felt they needed eight hours of sleep, and they're not getting it, and that was associated with feelings of depression and irritability and that kind of thing."Ong and his colleagues published their findings in the April 15 issue of the Journal of Clinical
Insomnia is basically a sleep disorder. It is characterized by an inability to sleep or remain asleep for a sufficient period. People that suffer from insomnia are named insomniacs and they usually complain of not being able to close their eyes or "Rest their mind" for more than some minutes a day. There are many reasons as to why Insomnia happens. It can be caused by stress, anxiety, fear, herbs, caffeine, depression, medications or bipolar disorder. It can also appear sometimes for no apparent reason. Even physical pain or an overactive mind can be causes for insomnia. What is "special" is that in order to cure insomnia you have to see what causes it. There are three main types of Insomnia: 1. Transient insomnia - lasts from one night to a few weeks. Most people occasionally suffer from transient insomnia due to such causes as jet lag or short-term anxiety. If this form of insomnia continues to occur from time to time, the insomnia is classified as intermittent. 2. Acute insomnia
Bouts with Insomnia will always be dreaded but for some people like famous singer and American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson, it can also serve as a beneficial issue despite having to sacrifice much needed sleep.
But while it is good to note down or push through with whatever is in anyone’s mind, the matter of worrying if it is indeed worth writing down or would be a hit in Clarkson’s case is something she has to deal with when it comes to newly composed songs for potential release.
She says, “The moment a song comes to me, I have to get it out. That’s why I have a hard time sleeping, because a lot of those times are at night.” – Kelly Clarkson, Kelly Clarson Suffers With Insomnia, FemaleFirst.co.uk
