Vi este anime há dois dias com muita curiosidade por ter lido que o argumento tinha semelhanças óbvias com INLAND EMPIRE.
Não desapontou, parece estarmos perante um resumo do filme do David Lynch, versão anime, com a mesma confusão entre realidade e sonho, a perda de identidade... É quase irresistivel explicar os mistérios de INLAND EMPIRE à luz de Perfect Blue. Vale bem a pena ver.

GAINESVILLE, FL-Orlando-based Inland American Lodging Corp. has acquired the 248-room University of Florida Hilton Hotel. The hotel was acquired from Cornerstone Real Estate Advisors LLC. The acquisition price was not released, but the property is valued at more than $20 million, according to public records. Inland American Lodging Corp. is a subsidiary of Oak Brook, IL-based Inland American Real Estate Trust Inc. The hotel will remain a Hilton property and will be managed by Memphis-based Davidson Hotel Co. “Investors were attracted to the Hilton’s overall quality, extensive conference center facilities and the consistent demand base generated by its University of Florida orientation,” says Molinaro Koger senior vice president Ali Baheri. Washington, DC-based Molinaro Koger represented Cornerstone Real Estate Advisors.

There are usually two schools of thought when it comes to director David Lynch. There’s the attitude that he’s out of his fucking mind and everything he does has no purpose. And then there’s the other side which believes Lynch to be a genius. Count me in as one of the latter.
Available since last Tuesday (or Wednesday depending on where you live) is Lynch’s latest effort, Inland Empire and I can see where the argument for the former comes from. I think that some people watch a film like this and hate Lynch because he makes you feel dumb. But the beauty in a film like this is the mystery of the meaning. I can’t really say what Empire is about but I’ll echo Lynch: “It’s about a woman in trouble”. Oh if it were only that simple.

Eraserhead’den “olgusal gerçeklik”i dıştalayan anlatı yapısını, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me’den maksimum düzeyde seyreden cinsel nevrotizmi, Lost Highway’den bilinçaltı aşırılıklarını ve nihayet Mulholland Drive’dan Amerikan Mitosu’nu ödünç alarak denetimli kamera açıları ve uçlardaki karakterleriyle senteze ulaştıran auteur David Lynch, alışılageldik çizgisinin hem içinde, hem de dışında.

Inland Empire’ın Lynchville’in hem yeni bir halkası / özeti / toplamı ve hem de devamı (uzantısı, tamamlayıcısı) olduğunu söylemiştim. Bu yazıda niçin böyle düşündüğümü açmaya çalışacağım. Inland Empire’daki fabrika ve nükleer enerji imaları olasılıkla Eraserhead’e birer gönderme. “Olmayan şeyleri gören” kişilerden bahsedilmesi de bu olasılığı artıran başat etken. Gerçekten de Eraserhead’in uzamı savaşın neredeyse tamamıyla yok ettiği bir izbelikler toplamıdır. Yıkıntılar, “varlıkla yokluk arası bir varoluşun topografyasını” çıkartmak için idealdir. Inland Empire’ın hemen başında Hollywood’a yapılan “kesme” akla direkt olarak Mulholland Drive’ı getiriyor. Bu “kesme”nin tıpatıp aynısını Mulholland Drive’da da izlemiştik.
