STARTING OFF RIGHT: ARTIST JEREMY FISHERI'm sure that Jeremy Fisher has heard many a comparison to great artists of the past. The one that springs to mind the most easily is probably Simon & Garfunkel. This being said, that pair was never this upbeat. He's also somewhat a troubadour like Dylan, but isn't that the requisite comparison? These types of comparisons and similarities come easy when there's such strong evidence of talent. Fisher released the "Goodbye Blue Monday" album last September and it's been a steady drive forward for him ever since. There's the brand new video for the single Cigarette that is just emerging now. It's not an endorsement of nicotine, but rather a tale involving romance, a kind of dependence, infatuation and surrender. This one has it all. Here's the amazi
Hey ATOMIC fans. Here's my first post since last December.
I'm starting to get a little itch to get back and rock out with you on this blog.
I recorded this jam the other day when I was getting back to some of my Indie Rock roots. What I mean is just playing experimental but melodic guitar. Kind of like with a creative edge.
I don't know if you'll dig it or not.
Can't put my finger on what it sounds like or what bands influenced it, so I just called it "Indie Rock Roots."

I found this list compilation from OMG Lists! and have to say I found it refreshing and agreed with majority of the list. Every one knows Beyonce is hot, Rihanna is hot, Gwen, Jessica Simpson, ect. But, I think it is about time to acknowledge new pretty faces of the less mainstream scene.8- Joanna NewsomWhen most people think of musical instruments, they tend to envision things like guitars, drums and pianos. But not a lot of people will think of the harp. Pay some attention to the beautiful Joanna Newsom, however, and the harp will suddenly look a whole lot more enticing. The lovely Ms. Newsom owns a fragile sounding voice that still somehow manages to convey a sense of strength; she's ridiculously easy on the eyes as well.7- Kori GardnerThe only thing that could potentially keep Kori Gar
Sasha Frere-Jones recently laid into the indie rock genre for turning its back on musical miscegenation, the often immoral borrowings of black culture by white musicians that gave rock and roll its original, signature sound. On the current music made popular by Wilco and The Decemberists among others:
How did rhythm come to be discounted in an art form that was born as a celebration of rhythm’s possibilities? Where is the impulse to reach out to an audience—to entertain? I can imagine James Brown writing dull material. I can even imagine the Meters wearing out their fans by playing a little too long. But I can’t imagine any of these musicians retreating inward and settling for the lassitude and monotony that so many indie acts seem to confuse with authenticity and significance.
I agree with him. I don’t like indie rock, and its lack of life and syncopation certainly is one of the reasons, among others. Sasha thinks that the current indie rock phenomenon has diverged from th

School of Fish were started as an acoustic duo in Los Angeles. The pair of Josh Clayton-Felt and Michael Ward were signed to a record deal by Capitol Records in 1990. They appeared together through the region and would later add bass and drums - which helped nail down their trademark sound in time for the band's 1991 release of their self-entitled album. School of FIsh reached as high as #6 on the U.S. charts with the cogent track "Three Strange Days" which some indie rock radio stations still play today. The band followed up the album with a less successful record, "Human Cannonball" and the band ultimately split up. The track that made them famous was a true snapshot of the band and the time.Remembering School of FishDebut Album 1991School Of Fish - Three Strange DaysSchool of Fish signer Josh Clayton-FeltAftermath: Josh Clayton-Felt went on to have a considerable measure of commercial success as a solo artist. "Now there are a few ways you can give in to musical obsession. You can give insuddenly and briefly – such as when, over a course of a few weeks or months, youfind yourself hooked on a particular album (especially a debut album or abreakout album) and start talking up the artist to everyone you know; but then, after seeing a boring live performance or hearing someone you don't respect gushabout the music, you just as suddenly denounce the artist as being annoying orunoriginal.Or you can give in sporadically. This might happen if you aredealing unfamiliar real-world concerns, such as a new job or mouth to feed, whenyou have neither the time nor the energy to satisfy the rigors of a full-blownobsession; it might also be that your passion peaked years ago and is only atthe edges of your synapses now. But the mania is merely in remission, it isstill there, waiting to flare up: a release of a new bootleg, an anniversary ofa hero's death, a reunion tour, a simpatico comment by a bartender
Distributor ADA and top indie labels are teaming to create a series of compilations modeled after the very successful "NOW That's What I Call Music" series. However, sources tell Billboard.com the series is "still in the super-early discussion phase," particularly regarding other labels that may opt to release one of the albums in the future.According to Entertainment Weekly, Vice Records, which declined comment to Billboard.com, will release volume one, being eyed for July. No formal deal is in place but "Matador has expressed interest in putting out volume two, and Sub Pop has shown interest in volume three," according to EW.A Sub Pop source says the label was asked by ADA for permission to include a Shins song on the compilation, which it granted. But any discussion of Sub Pop releasing one of the albums down the road is "putting the cart before the horse," the source says.According to the report, the yet-untitled series will feature artists such as Bloc Party, the Shins, Bright Ey

First Anniversary Of Modern Music Blog
A year passed either well or badly. This week of last year, i made a decision
to share my musical thought with the world. Fortunately, i still continue my mission and i'll continue as far as i can.
Thus far, i took my pencil and started to write down this year's the most amazing indie rock albums. I listened them once more to consider their impression on me.

Today, I went to the I COUNT event in Trafalgar Square with a few friends, which is campaining against climate change. At the event were people like Simon Anstell, Miranda Richardson and even RAZORLIGHT played a short set!I had a really good day, but as I was looking around the crowd of about 10, 000 people, I couldn't help but notice how many teenage girls there were there wearing skinny jeans, Converse sneakers and oversized jumpers/sweater dresses. Also, an extraordinary amount of them were dressed 'indie' style, sort of, not really following a fashion trend, but following the 'indie' fashion trend if you get my meaning. So as we were rocking along to RAZORLIGHT and some people called Crocodile Style (a samba-esque band) I was contomplating the whole trend fiasco, and basically, what I was wondering is, can you ever really NOT be following a trend. If you try to dress different and with you own style, you are following the trend of people who have tried to create their own st
