It seems as if spending on such surgery had previously been recession-proof. Perhaps it fell under the heading of consumer necessities. Now cosmetic surgeons are feeling the economic pain. “Seharusnya pesawat take off pukul 10.00 WIB, tapi karena fuel indicator mengalami trouble, maka pesawat batal berangkat,” ujar staf humas Garuda Indonesia Singgih Handoyo kepada detikcom, Senin (10/12/2007).
Menurut Singgih, Garuda telah mengalihkan penumpang ke penerbangan lain. Sebanyak 50 penumpang dialihkan ke Merpati Airlines dengan nomor penerbangan MZ 730 yang terbang pada pukul 11.00 WIB.

Lifehacker's recent System Tray Show and Tell got me feeling really self-conscious about the things that show up on my computer's SysTray. While there are several items that I don't mind keeping an eye on there are a couple of Windows processes that I really don't think need constant monitoring. A perfect example of this is the Windows Local Area Connection icon that sits with a perpetual red X because my laptop is hooked up with WiFi.
Why do I need to see this icon if I never use the wired connection?
I did a little playing around and managed to find two ways to hide the icon. One doesn't appear to work all the time so I'll provide both just to be safe.

I have found the NASDAQ/NYSE ratio a good indicator to find the market momentum. When the ratio is upwards, the NASDAQ is outperforming and the market is in a bullish mode. Do we really need to type the "www." prefix to every single website we wish to visit? Last time I checked, I didn't have any site hosted on my Intranet with the name "google.co.uk", so it's extremely important that I tell my browser it should begin it's DNS search on the World Wide Web. That sounds logical, but searching your Intranet before it finds a DNS on the Internet is not a big deal, it takes a mere nanosecond to look at your Intranet to see if "google.co.uk" exists and most browsers just look straight into the Intranet to begin with anyway, regardless of whether you have typed the "www." prefix or not.
Why don't we start auto-truncating the "www." from all websites, so the 95% of society who never knew what it stood for in the first place can chill out and stop typing it. We should adopt a new practice: shred the "www." prefix.

Imagitronics from Japan shared his latest creation with us in the Hacked Gadgets forum. It’s a USB Controlled Traffic Light Status Indicator which he built to show the number of running applications at a glance.
“I retrofitted this generic “Blinking Traffic Light” with a USB module and wrote a simple Mac application to monitor my computer usage and reflect the results in by changing the stoplight.
This project was born out of the frustration after being constantly interrupted by people who could not tell that I was already busy. The alpha version of the software detects the number of running applications on the computer using Cocoa’s NSDistributedNotificationCenter and updates the light based on a user-defined threshold.”

This gadget has not yet hit the market but I think it’s kinda cool.
Some might question the need to monitor your heart rate while working on your computer but hey, nothing quite like adding a new, glowing, nifty gadget to your desk!
The heartbeat indicator mouse uses sensors inside the mouse so that when your thurm or palm touches it, heart rate information is sent to the little display panel.
This could actually be of benefit to many of you that have stressful jobs or for those who don’t even realise you are getting all wound up over something you are working on. It will let you know that it’s time to get away from your desk and maybe go for a walk or just chill out in the staff room.
The information can even be sent to your hospital or health carer, especially handy if you have a medical condition that requires monitoring.
It would be cool if you could have this information sent to a website so you can get graphs, etc on a long term basis.
