Como regalo anticipado de navidad, ayer me llegó el dvd "Look alive" de Incubus. Aún recordaba la emoción del concierto que vi en octubre en Argentina y al escuchar los temas y ver las imágenes del dvd, no dejaba de sentir algo parecido. Lo mejor de todo, es que si bien ese concierto en el Luna Park me había dejado con sabor a poco por la ausencia de varios de mis temas favoritos, "Look Alive" incluye gran parte de las canciones de "Light grenades" (mi disco preferido de Incubus, junto a "Morning view") entre ellas predilectas mías como "Quicksand", "Love hurts", "Oil and water" y sobre todo "Paper shoes" que es la canción que más me gusta del reciente disco de la banda. Además de los 17 temas que conforman el dvd ("Anna molly", "Dig", "Megalomaniac", "A kiss to send us off", "Rogues", "Pistola" y "Sick sad litle world") hay metraje detrás de escenario, tomas en estudio, en sala de ensayo e incluso algo de mate

"Incubus" es un grupo californiano de rock alternativo con más de 15 años de experiencia a sus espaldas. Recuerdo que conseguí su discografía completa unos meses antes del festival BilbaoBBKLive 07, (Metallica, Incubus, Biok, The (I) Noise Conspiracy... etc) cuando ya había adquirido la entrada, la cual aguardaba en un cajón esperando ansiosa ser partida por la mitad. Escuché algunas canciones que me ayudaron a conocer el estilo del grupo, pero no llegaron a gustarme del todo. Había algo que no me convencía en su sonido, como si algo no encajase correctamente. Las canciones pasaron una buena temporada en mi iPod siendo ignoradas completamente, hasta que un día me di cuenta de que faltaba un álbum en mi colección. Ese álbum era "Light Grenades", el último plástico de Incubus publicado en 2006 que hasta entonces desconocía. El próximo 27 de noviembre será cuando Brandon Boyd y compañía den a conocer su nuevo DVD, que llevará el nombre de "Look Alive", título que se refiere a una de las mejores canciones de esta banda californiana, y que no se incluyó en su último álbum "Light Grenades". El material de este DVD estará conformado por dos discos, en donde mostrarán algunas de sus últimas presentaciones, así como material grabado por ellos mismos mientras se encontraban de gira. Durante varias generaciones siempre hubo grupos que marcaron, y que de alguna manera estuvieron presentes a pesar del constante cambio de la escena del rock y del contraste con el que se manejaba en años anteriores. Un ejemplo de esto es Incubus, por lo menos aquí en el norte de esta gran ciudad siempre fueron ídolos considerados, y marcaron con especial armonía el estilo de esta juventud. Este hecho hizo que en Diciembre de 2005 tanta gente fuera a verlos en su primera presentación en tierras aztecas, y que por cierto fue un concierto inolvidable para muchos de nosotros. Pero en esta su segunda presentación algo que nos llamó la atención especialmente, fue que les dieran un lapso de tiempo muy corto para tocar. Sin embargo, disfrutamos mucho de sus temas que nos hicieron recordar viejos tiempos a finales de los 90`s como "Pardon Me”, "Stellar" y "Vitamin", entre otros. Finalmente los vi.Anoche disfruté en vivo de mi banda favorita del momento en un show realizado en el Luna Park de Buenos Aires.El show duró una hora y media, en la que el quinteto interpretó 17 temas, entre ellos "Wish you were here", "Anna-Molly", "Drive", "Kiss to send us off", "Stellar", "Are you in", "Megalomaniac", "Dig" y "Nice to know you" que fue el que abrió el show.Faltaron muchos de mis temas favoritos, lo que me dejó algo de sabor a poco: "Paper shoes", "Agoraphobia", "Oil and water", "Pardon me", "Talk shows on mute", "Southern girl" y otros.No pongo fotos ahora porque no tengo como bajarlas, pero prometo hacerlo una vez de vuelta en La Paz y contarte un poquito más sobre la experiencia de haber visto a Incubus en vivo.Bueno, al final todo valió la pena, y ahora me espera Soda Stereo el sábado 20. Desde abril que ando contando los días para ver en vivo a una de mis bandas favoritas de los últimos años: Incubus. La primera semana de mayo, la banda californiana debía presentarse en concierto en Latinoamérica, pero debido al sindrome del tunel carpiano que afecta al guitarrista Mike Einziger las fechas fueron pospuestas para octubre y ahora resta solo un mes para disfrutar de ese show. Son nueve conciertos los que brindará Incubus en tierras latinas, dos en Chile, uno en Argentina, tres en Brasil y tres en México y como – obviamente- no vienen a Bolivia, tuve que escoger entre Santiago y Buenos Aires para poder verlos. Al final, debido a la cantidad de conciertos en la mira, me animé por Baires y el día 11 de octubre estaré en primera fila en el histórico Luna Park y si todo sale bien, veré a Soda Stereo el 20 de octubre y el 24 a 30 Seconds To Mars. Desde siempre me ha gustado demasiado esta banda y su música, del último disco esta canción en particular es mi favorita. The 'I dig Incubus' contest has ended last week, when the members of the band announced the winners. The contest consisted in making a videoclip for the song 'Dig', from their last album 'Light Grenades'. About 100 videos from 18 countries were sent and only 5 finalists were selected and from those 5, the band would choose their favorite one (which was going to be the official video) and the fans would choose their favorite one too. Incubus, the multi-platinum recording band have released their sixth studio album "Light Grenades". It was said from their myspace page that the Light Grenades album was produced by renowned producer Brendan O'Brien (Pearl Jam, Bob Dylan, Rage Against The Machine, STP) and was highly anticipated.
